Cahill may have been okay for a short term fix but he's 34 in December, wanted a 2 year deal and pretty hefty wages (which is a serious issue for us right now). Plus he may or may not have wanted to stay in London. Wanyama is way over the hill with injuries and isn't worth a punt. No denying we're weak in other areas but we badly needed a striker. When Ings was injured last season, we were hopelessly lacking up front.

Not really, we've been capable of clangers at home to average teams since time immemorial. We lost at home to Cardiff under Poch, Swansea under Koeman and Bristol City when we got promoted under Adkins. All four of those teams are better than Sheff U, Brighton, Burnley and probably Wolves.

We've played Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea and Bournemouth. I'll start making statements like that after we've played Brighton, Norwich and Newcastle. 7 points from 4 games away to our rivals is decent whoever you are.
