The point is that taking a panenka is somehow perceived as trying to be too cocky and that one saved is worse than any other penalty saved or missed. It isn't.

This isn't Saints specific but having a panenka saved is not an embarrassing situation. I'd much rather a player did that than smash it wide or over the bar, where there's literally a zero percent chance of scoring.
