  1. Or stick him in charge of Everton and see how he too will struggle without a reliable goal scorer in the squad.
  2. We had Austin, J Rod, Long, Redmond, Boufal and Tadic all competing for 3 spots. With young players like Sims and Hesketh also hoping to play, that's enough bodies. The fact that they didn't perform isn't Reed's fault. There should have been enough goals from those players. PR is PR. Every player signed by anyone gets 'bigged' up. They can hardly sign Redmond and say, "he's a bit crap, he got relegated and TBH he was just cheap." As a replacement for Juanmi, he's been pretty decent. The whole Fonte thing in January I agree was daft. He dropped a clanger there, selling our captain without a replacement.
  3. Fair point, although I can't see who would be particularly embarrassed. It's not as if we undermined him or didn't support him in the transfer market. Boufal, Hojbjerg and Redmond all looked like decent enough signings when we made them, then when we were struggling for goals we splashed out quite a lot on Gabbi in January. I don't think Les or anyone else has reason to be embarrassed, it just wasn't working so we acted accordingly. Sensible business IMO.
  4. Not really, nothing he achieves at Leicester will change what he did at Southampton. If he does go there and play exciting, attacking football it will just leave many of us wondering why he was the complete opposite at Saints. It's the same as people saying MP under-performing means it was wrong to sack Puel. It wasn't, it just means we may have appointed the wrong successor.
  5. I wasn't including him. His particular brand of tripe is usually just made up for the sake of an argument, he'll say anything for attention.
  6. I think this is a bit of a strawman argument actually, I haven't met anyone who actually wanted Puel out because of his interviews. Sure they were dull but nobody really cares about them anyway. Poch conducted all of his in Spanish, I don't remember the clamour for him to be sacked when we were playing 'muy bien'. Post match interviews are pretty much a checklist of the same dosen, standard clichés anyway. I'm surprised anyone bothers listening to them.
  7. I never said that but we've had some very easy fixtures and are still only 10th in the League. We will need to improve just to stay where we are. We've only played 3 teams in the top half so far, they were all at home and we managed to get 1 point from 9 available.
  8. Watford and Newcastle look better than us so far and I can't see Everton, West Ham, Stoke and Leicester staying this bad all season. Burnley, Brighton and Huddersfield look well drilled too, there's no guarantee we will be above them either.
  9. Oh Lovren What a weekend
  10. Both Everton goals were gifts too.
  11. Gueye off... just gets better and better for Koeman.
  12. Those mythical 'must play if fit' clauses which no club would obviously ever agree to. Boruc left because Forster was obviously brought in as a long term #1 and he wanted first team football.
  13. His frustration is understandable but I agree with you. Especially when he's just scored his first goal in almost a year. Still, if he scores a few more like that, he can drop his shorts and wave his todger in MP's face for all I care.
  14. How's this for a line up? - - - - - Forster Cedric - Yoshi - Virgil - Bertrand - - - - - - - Romeu - - - Lemina - - - - Boufal - Davis - - - - - - - - - Tadic - - - - - - - Gabbi Boufal seem's to enjoy running at people, so why not have him and Lemina pushing up from central midfield.
  15. I think we will be bottom half but as usual there is some tripe in the league who will probably bail us out.
  16. Fair play, that was a cracking individual goal. Let's hope he can follow it up with some more decent performances.
  17. It's about so much more than where you finish. You could look at last years table and say we were 4 places from a Champions League places and 4 places ahead of 12th place, so we're halfway in-between in terms of quality. The difference being we were 30 points from one of those positions and 2 points from the other.
  18. It is getting a bit 'Earth Song' out there.
  19. There were high points, I'm not disputing that. Inter (2nd half) and Sparta at home, both cracking. EFL Cup semis - Excellent EFL Final - I'm undecided personally. We were the better team but not as clinical and lost it from sloppy defending. Overall though, looking at our league campaign - 17 goals in 19 games is pretty poor. Against Leicester, Palace and Burnley we looked good and scored nine goals, albeit against substandard opposition. Take those games away and we scored 3 goals from open play in the other 16 home games and that's just awful.
  20. They're the football equivalent of a kid with ADHD and rich parents. Always buying the latest toy, ten minutes later 'I'm bored, next!'
  21. Look forward to us losing 3-0 at Palace and 3-1 at home to West Ham. You can't just pick one game as an avatar for Puel's football.
  22. Just a shame there hasn't been any Fonte hilarity.
  23. Yes, I still can't believe we beat Henry, Vieira, Pires, Campb... oh no wait we were playing against Paulista, Holding, Jenkinson and some bloke called Jeff Reine Adelaide (whoever the frig he is). If Arsenal played that team every week, they'd be bottom half. 9 of our first team players beat Arsenal's reserves, that's all that happened there. Many of them were easily as bad, IMO. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that.
  24. And? It’s like saying Leicester should have kept Ranieri or Chelsea, Mourinho because he won the league. You’re basically saying Puel was good because of 2 decent performances against Liverpool. Beating half-arsed Palace, Arsenal and Sunderland reserves really isn’t that special. I remember that Sunderland game as being absolute garbage.
  25. Ah, like when Redknapp proved how wrong we were to sack Wigley. I don’t form my opinion on anything I read here, I was at most of those games. I’d say those threads were fairly indicative of our performances overall, unless you’re suggesting the home games against Hull, Bournemouth, Stoke, Man Utd, West Brom, West Ham, Be’er Sheva, Man City, Liverpool, Sunderland, Watford and Spurs were actually good?
