Schneiderlin Joins Manchester United (Official)

There is an element of truth to it though. We all know Morgan is a far better player than Gaston but a friendly against Club America wont be the toughest game of his life. It's certainly too early to be calling him a bargain, after all we did get £25m for him. Some people talk as if it's loose change but players like Nasri, Fellaini, Bony, David Silva, Adebayor, Oscar and Lukaku have gone for a similar figures recently. -
So sad. RIP Jules

Players Who Never Should Have Left Southampton
Lighthouse replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Saints
He was never ours and he wanted to stay. Infact as I recall he was openly in the Dutch media shouting come and get me in 2009 but we didn't. Shame, with players like Neal Trotman and Chris Perry in the team, it's not as if we moved on to better things. Would have been nice to hang on to him. Surman and Skacel too, although the latter was long since disillusioned with life at Saints. A midfield with those two, Morgan and Lallana might well have taken us into the playoffs. Back to the OP. I'd say things will probably work out for Shaw and Lallana eventually. The other 3 from last summer I'm not so sure about. Chambers I can see ending up as a journeyman, he caught the first wave to hit the shore and broke to early, instead of waiting for the bigger waves behind it. Beattie was having a poor season anyway, it's doubtful he'd have done any better for us than he did at Everton. When the goals of Camera, Crouch and Phillips couldn't paper over the cracks (read gaping chasms) in our defence, I think we'd still have gone down with him. -
Can't say it bothers me in the slightest but I guess it's down to personal taste.

Good to see he can fill the naff tats void left by Danny Fox.

Closed doors friendly against Brighton today.....

Mystery trialist maybe. -
Given our wage bill is towards the bottom end of the Premier League I really don't see how that would be the case. I can't see us needing to plug losses of £40m a year with player sales.
-
Yep. That's probably good for £10m of Sterling's fee.
-
Sterling has got double the shelf life of Schneiderlin and £30m for Shaw still makes him one of the most expensive full backs ever. £49m is overpriced for Sterling but when you go after the top players, prices go up exponentially. Just look at Bale and Di Maria.
-
Neither of those players are that good that someone will come in and offer £25m for them. Baines has probably been as good for Everton as Bertrand has been for us. He makes the headlines with a few decent free kicks but is hardly a superstar. Besides Everton have almost as many players to bigger clubs as we have.
-
We aren't weak. Name one team below us who have hung on to a player as good as Morgan or Lallana.
-
I just didn't understand his policy of signing large amounts of crap. I think we got relegated with 40 senior players on the books, which can't have looked good on the wage bill. How we ended up there instead of 25 decent players I don't know. Yahia, Nilsson, Jakobsson, Van Damme, Davenport, Bernard, McCann. How did we end up signing such dross? Even Crouch, who turned out well in the end, was only signed as a cheap bargain who Villa didn't want.

Works for me. At least it's clearly legible.
