Because he was cheap, Championship quality squad filler, in keeping with our transfer strategy. No different to Wood, Archer, BBD, Sugawara, Taylor, Lallana and Cornet.
-
I’m not sure it’s the club who are fixated with Bazunu.
-
He’ll try anything to get into that Euro96 squad.
-
No matter how certain you think you are of a certain result, you can never actually be certain when it comes to Spurs…

Like I said, we’ll see what summer brings. He could probably do alright in the Championship but then again so should Archer and Armstrong. I think the £25-30m other PL clubs will pay for a 15+ goal a season striker could be better spent elsewhere.
-
He’s scored two headers, which is a fairly tepid return for a striker who’s 9ft 4in, and tapped in a couple of rebounds off the keeper/post. The fact that people are actually bigging up a striker with four goals by April, one ahead of Jan Bednarek, just shows how ridiculously low saints fans expectations have fallen. If I’m wrong then we’ll be entertaining bids from other PL clubs in summer, possibly from those just promoted, however I suspect I’m not and we won’t be.
-
Slightly misleading phrasing of that stat, it’s either 2 goals in 9 starts or 4 goals in 23 apps. He could do alright in the champ next season but he is not a PL standard player.
-
And yet Adam Armstrong looked like Luis Suarez running around with the ball and even the much cheaper Sam Edozie popped up with six goals IIRC. Sully hasn’t done it for three different managers now, even dropping down a division.
-
I don’t know but Sully did sweet Fanny Adams last season.

The player you’ve just compared to Manning and Smallbone has been playing PL football for 13 season and made around 250 top flight appearances for clubs including Liverpool. Whilst his fitness has often been questioned, when he is fit he is a far, far, far better player than Manning and Smallbone will ever be. I think people underestimate just how substandard most of our players are. Palace may have some PL dross but many of our players are midtable Championship standard.
-
I’m really scratching my head trying to think of a single player that statement applies to. Pretty much the entire team has been substandard and out of their depth since the season started. Ramsdale and Fernandes have been fairly consistently the only two who look like they belong in the PL, without looking anything special. As for signing an entirely new team, there’s no need for such dramatics and it isn’t going to happen. These players will be far more at home in the Championship and results are going to reflect that.
-
If we can do it, so can anyone else. The gulf between PL and the Championship is getting wider, teams like Spurs and Man U are getting shuffled down to 13/14th, whilst Bournemouth are having the season of their lives and could easily finish bottom half. We were a decent team last year, basically matching automatic promotion form after a dodgy start. If some team scrapes into sixth, then flukes the playoffs one year, they could be on the wrong end of 5/6-0 every week.
-
Yes, considerably. Never in a million years would players like Manning, Archer or Smallbone get into Palace’s match day squad, let one start.
-
He looks like a Swedish, female biathlon skier.

Right now they deserve our support more than ever. It's tough enough being sent out against teams overwhelmingly better than you every week, without your own fans turning on you. It's the decision makers who left us rudderless in the summer transfer window who deserve our ire.

It's not pedantic it's a fundamental issue in this conflict. There is clearly a collective attitude among some that 'Israel' is just one entity but Palestinians can be absolved of any wrongdoing by refering to Hamas as a separate entity. If you walk around any UK city waving an Israeli flag, you wont get people telling you, "I understand your support for the Israeli people but not necessarily their military," you will get told, "you're scum, look at what Israel does to innocent Palestinians." There are clearly double standards in play here, which contribute to the subconscious animosity towards all Israelis.
-
You say that like it'll just happen, as if a player who looked poor against QPR at the bottom of the Championship will do anything at all against PL defences. Jamie White was a promising teenager, thrown into a Championship team, struggled and ended up playing for Totton.
-
I haven't got the faintest clue where you're getting that impression from, or how he ended up at Strasbourg when any other PL club could have picked him up for £10m, played him a bit and stuck a £100m price tag on him in summer.
-
It’s interesting how people who are so keen to point out the different between Hamas and Palestinians are quite happy to lump ‘Israel’ together under the moniker of ‘Israel’. Why not ‘Netanyahu/Israeli government’ or ‘the IDF’?

I had exactly the same thought about Nathaniel Clyne whilst watching the Palace game yesterday. Astonishingly, Phil Jones has also only just turned 33. I could have sworn he was about 22, playing for Blackburn about 18 years ago but apparently not. Still, at least Saints future is looking bright. It's only three years until we can sign all three of them and say they're great lads to have in the dressing room.

Neither Martin, nor Juric, nor apparently Strasbourg's manager seems to have shown much interest in him and he looked a long way off being a decent Championship player last season. Will he be a decent player one day? Sure, maybe, who knows but there's no reason at all to think he'd have brought anything to our squad this season or that his value would have gone up just from keeping him around. If anything, with very little game time, he'd have probably left on a free when his contract expired. Rather like Tella, I've no idea why people get so upset about a player who did nothing here leaving for a decent fee.
-
We were very fortunate the SP game wasn’t about 5-1. I think they had something like 20 shots and 10 on target.

Let's get another one out of the way then.
