  1. In the Northam, row GG, £30. Can't make it today, my boss wont let me come and play (it's my ST). Collect outside the ground from my mate who sits next to me. Happy new year.
  2. It is possible this accident is similar to the MD80 which crashed in Little Rock, Arkansas. The crew failed to arm the speed brake during the landing checks and failed to notice it hadn't deployed upon landing. That accident was largely attributed to stress, overload and fatigue however. The pilots were at the end of a long shift and trying to land in a severe thunderstorm in which weather conditions, including wind, were changing rapidly. It would take a high level of incompetance for that to happen in normal circumstances. Arming the speed brake is part of the landing checklist in most airlines and at least one of the pilots is supposed to confirm it has indeed deployed upon landing. I think we can rule out a reverse thrust problem too. On a 3000m uncontaminated runway it shouldn't be needed at all.
  3. Would have loved to have spent NYE in Dubai this year but my plans to move out there haven't materialised yet. Instead it's a quietish night at a friends house, not drinking because I'm on call for work at 5am tomorrow. I'm not really massive on NYE although it is as good excuse as any to have a few cheerful drinks with friends and be optimistic for the new year. Even if it is just a sequencial number assigned to some random point on the Earths orbit of the Sun.
  4. If only someone had started this thread for Delgado. He'd have got fit, scored 30 goals a season, we'd have stayed up and would now be playing in the Champions League with Lowe, Poortvliet, Clifford, Walcott, Bale, Wotte and Forecast.
  5. Vnukovo has a 3000m runway, which is plenty long enough to stop a Tu204 under normal conditions. Looking at that video it wasn't really snowing so the runway was also probably clear of any serious contamination. The aircraft went off the end at considerable speed too so it wasn't even close to stopping. My guess would be he either missed the touch down markers by about 1500m (incredibly unlikely) or some serious brake or spoiler failure which the pilots failed to go around from.
  6. This one is pretty unusual even for Russia.
  7. On a scale of 1 to 10, how old are you?
  8. Pompey coming to St Mary's was memorable, if not one of the most gutting ends to a match I've ever witnessed. When Norris' goal went in I felt like all my insides had just vanished in an instant and I was completely empty. Went mental for Billy's second goal though. Weird to think 8 months later we are in the Premier League with a realistic chance of staying up, whilst they're dangling by a thread over the League 2 trap door. Millwall away was another fantastic result. To turn around that game in the last 2 minutes after such a sh*t performance was brilliant. I was on the train home thinking 'that was our MK Dons moment'. Listening to Saints beat Coventry on 5 live, whilst at work was another brilliant moment. I was gutted I couldn't be there.
  9. I want to date more supermodels Well actually, I just want to date A supermodel Well actually, I just want to find a girlfriend Well actually, I just want to stop crying whilst I masturbate
  10. Good point, forgot about him.
  11. Anyone else noticed this? It seems quite strange given the number of players who've come through and made an impact on our team, not to mention those who've left and made a name for themselves elsewhere. I can't think of one decent CB we've brought through in the last 20 years or so. There was Lancashire a couple of years ago but he was awful and ended up at Aldershot. Maybe our scouting network is more interested in attacking players who generally seem to sell for more money.
  12. Appart from a Premier League squad from last season and as much money as we spent on Gaston to buy Adam Johnson plus an extra £15m to buy Fletcher from Wolves? But appart from that, they're a shoe string outfit.
  13. 5,000 hangovers and a sh*t game in sh*t weather don't make for a great atmosphere. Was like a library in there today.
  14. Seriously? You're not wishing for him to come back and start moving mountains in Southampton, you'd rather sell him and make some money? Is your name Rupert?
  15. I'm always wary of Fulham's home form but I think we can get something from there. I'd go with a team of Davis Clyne - Fonte - Yoshi - Shaw De Ridder - Morgan - Cork - Puncheon Gaston Lambert I'm sure I will get blasted for suggesting De Ridder but Riise isn't exactly quick these days.
  16. That was about as bad as it gets offensively. Did we have a shot on target? Lamberts free kick probably counts I suppose but other than that, dreadful. Ramirez looked like a fish up a tree out on the wing and must have been colourblind the number of times he passed straight to a Sunderland player. If Guly or SDR put in a performance like that they would get crucified on here. Lumping it up to Lambert just didn't work, the Sunderland CBs had him in there pocket all afternoon and nobody got withing the same postcode to try and win the second ball. The supply into the box was pretty much none existent for most of the game. On the subject of SDR I though he was decent when he came on. People talk about him only putting in one decent cross, that's more than Gaston, Puncheon and Mayuka put together. Besides which he made other contributions winning a couple of corners and he got 2 players booked trying to defend against him. He is a right footed player who was put on the left, crossing is always going to be difficult. He cut inside a couple of times and pulled the ball back to team mates who failed to use it. Don't get me wrong, he wasn't great but he was one of the better players today. I'd be inclined to give him more chances, rather than chucking him into a match where the whole team is sh*te, then moaning because he can't turn it around on his own.
  17. I'd quite like to try Bukovel in Ukraine one day as a completely off the beaten track kind of place. It's generally pretty empty but it's also very modern and most of it was built in the last 10 years. The problem is getting there as no British tour opperators go there, also very little English is spoken.
  18. I'm wondering if Lee would be a better option on the left, sounded like he had a decent game for the U21s the other day. Might be more suited to the role than Rod. Another alternative would be Puncheon left and Mayuka right.
  19. From anywhere. It's got to be the worst accessible international airport in Britain. Nothing but single lane roads leading up to it, you're always stuck behind some plank plodding along at 35mph (it's a 60 limit).
  20. Don't worry Turkish, you wont see me wearing any embarassing novelty clothing on Saturday. I'll just be there in my normal sequined lycra shell suit and gimp mask.
  21. A year ago yesterday as it happens. One of the best moments of last season for me.
  22. Been there, was brilliant. Loved everything about it possibly my favourite ski resort, although I don't think there was any night life. Went with my parents so never got a chance to look into it. I stood at the top of Parachute Bowl sh*tting myself for about 15 minutes before I worked up the courage to jump off.
  23. I went last year and the lift queues were dreadful. I think I may have gone in French school holiday times which didn't help but waits of 20 minutes were not uncommon. Bit of a ***** having to start planning your route back to Plagne centre at about 2 o'clock. Everyone was on the same lift up from Plagne Bellecote and the place was heaving. The lifts themselves were also old, slow and low capacity. Not a patch on other places I've been. Val D'Isere/Tignes - Brilliant all round but fairly expensive. Portes du Soleil (Les Gets, Avoriaz, Morzine) - Good variety of runs but the hills weren't that big. Night life not great (in Les Gets anyway) IMO. 3 Valleys (Courcheval, Meribel, Val Thorens) - Very good all round resort. VT Seem to do a lot of student weeks so be careful when you book. Zermatt - Found the lifts to get up to the piste a right royal pain in the arse Levi (Northern Finland) - Limited skiing on a small hill, good for beginners and snow is as reliable as a wood burning stove. My old boots it was cold there, -35 in January for a couple of days. Zell Am See/Kaprun - Good for Austrian culture and atmosphere. Also been to Geilo (small, good for beginners), Sol, Badgastein and Courmayeur but that was a bit too long ago to remember much about them. Have done a few US and Canadian resorts too. Great but not worth the long journeys and bad jet lag.
  24. I want to go but can't find anyone to go with at the moment so I may end up going alone. Val D'Isere is always decent for both ski and apres ski. Was thinking about Mayrhofen too.
