  1. Kelvin has always had his limitations as a 'keeper and I was aprehensive about having him in goal before the start of the season. I remember him drawing a lot of criticism even in League 1 for being beaten too easily at his near post and not coming for crosses. He got away with it to an extent in the lower leagues but I think the PL is slightly above his level. Had a bit of a 'mare with Sunderland too I think.
  2. Is he theirs to sell? I thought pretty much all their players were on month to month rolling contracts and could just bugger off whenever they wanted.
  3. I would say no. I'm sure in the future promoting the clubs image abroad will become a large priority. Right now we have bigger priorities like sorting out our defence and staying in the league. Bringing in Beckham wont help us and the large media circus etc. may disturb the team ethic somewhat. I doubt he will be all that good as a player either. Robert Pries was as good as Beckham on his day. He joined Villa at a similar age a couple of years ago and was hopeless. There are very few players still capable of playing at that level when they're 37. I don't see any need to try when we've got very capable young players in Lallana, Gaston and Puncheon.
  4. Nobody has asked if Skacel has signed yet. My faith in you lot has been ever so slightly restored.
  5. I knew broadband was slow in Ukraine but Jesus...
  6. Because he is a Saints player who is being linked with another club? He isn't the inbred offspring of Branfoot and his sister that we keep locked in the attic and don't talk about. Christ, the way some people are going on at him you'd think he'd been caught drowning puppies. We will have to rename this Skacel syndrome I think. "I saw a 3 minute youtube video of all the goals he scored in a year and he looked world class. Apparently he isn't world class, what a c**t!"
  7. I think he could do a decent job in the championship. The problem is he never suited our style of play and seemed on a completely different wavelength from the other players. We played with the likes of Lallana and Guly cutting in from wide and into central possitions. Steve is much more the traditional wide man, running for the by-line with chalk on his laces. Let's not demonise him as being useless. Aside from the Reading game he came on and made a big difference at home to Ipswich and at Coventry and he had a decent game on Boxing Day against Palace. He also changed the game when he came on at Cardiff but it was far too late to make a difference. There were other decent performances too, just not consistent enough to make the spot his own. Good luck to him wherever he ends up. Seems a nice lad (on twitter anyway) and clearly has some tallent.
  8. They're coming...
  9. Lambert has 83 league goals for Saints (30+21+27+5) so far. If he gets another 8 he will overtake Tommy Mulgrew and enter Saints all time top 10 league scorers.
  10. You can come and hang out on my yacht in the med, provided you bring her with you.
  11. I see Santi Cazorla was this weeks 'man of the match', "I looked at him years ago when he played for xxxxx, I've always known he was class" from 'Arry. Someone different every feckin' week from him.
  12. I think it was a good sub. Gaston was class on the ball but looked a bit off the pace and gave the ball away trying to be too clever. Davis gave us a bit more grit and helped us dominate the midfield.
  13. If Santa was a Russian oil billionaire who could bring you one gift, anything you wanted, what would you get? I quite fancy one of these; the $33m, 60kt, 118ft WallyPower motor yacht Would need a decent sized berth for it in Ocean Village too.
  14. Fantasic result and the 2 goal swing gives us a better GD than them (and Villa who got spanked 5-0 and drop into the drop zone just above us). Win the next two, Newcastle ( they just got beat by Swansea at home) and Norwich at home, we COULD be midtable.
  15. Can't pick one out of Cork, Lallana or Puncheon. Probably Punch he ripped them appart and scored. .... Actually no, Lallana took the p*ss. ... No, you were right actually Cork ran the midfield. Special mentions to Lambert, Morgan, Shaw, Clyne, Yoshi... actually I can't think of a poor performance today. Gazza in no-man's land for their goal but did little else wrong, not that we were ever really pressured.
  16. I wouldn't half mind these scores at half time. Saints winning, Villa, Reading and Pompey losing. Don't make any subs. They will want to come out and attack to get an early goal back. Just keep the ball, keep the pressure on when they have it and hit them on the counter.
  17. Anatoli Todorov, now there is a CM legend. Signed him aged 18, retired when he was 36 about 600 goals later.
  18. Mammal, not a fish FFS! Let's be honnest, we've all done that at some point in our lives.
  19. Yevhen Khacheridi. 6ft 6in brick sh*thouse CB from Dynamo Kiev. Has some limitations but I saw him boss it in the air away to Stoke City last year, something our lot can only dream of. I'd also love Yarmolenko or Konoplyanka from Ukraine but they are both attacking players with a sizeable price tag on their heads.
  20. I feel sorry for his heart problems but on the other hand he has been doing a bad impression of a footballer for about 10 years before he retired.
  21. Andrei Pereplyotkin (Or now Andrejs Pereplotkins now he has decided to be Latvian) turned up at Derby in the Poortaloo era and made no impact what so ever. Ended up at Skonto Riga when he left Saints. Awesome on CM03/04. I think players like Saga and Skacel were the victims of circumstance, more specifically Burley. The later formed a very credible left sided partnership with Bale in the brief period he played in midfield. I think missing the whole of preseason ruined his fitness though. Saganowski's goals came in fits and starts, very much a confidence player and reminded me of Beattie to an extent. Awesome on his day and scored some brilliant goals in healthy numbers when the team suited him. I certainly don't buy all the 'only playing for a contract' boolacks people come out with. For me the biggest disappointments were DMG, who ripped the youth leagues appart but couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo in the first team (and still can't with Forest). Tin Man was another (it's his birthday on 23rd December don't forget!) and McCann't are definite candidates too. Griffit, Folly, Jamie Hatch, Jamie White, Fish Mills and Jake Thompson were all good nominations from our youth team too.
  22. It's not a tattoo, it's a jungle critter looking for somewhere warm and moist to lay it's eggs.
  23. In terms of size or time?
