  1. Most of the problems in football can be sorted with a very simple rule change. You can only spend x% of your turnover on wages and only y% of your turnover on transfers. Let's say x and y added up to about 60%. That way clubs are left with 40% to spend on running costs improving their infrastructure. There's loads of benefits to it. - The big clubs still get the biggest transfer and wage budgets as their turnover is much higher. - Smaller clubs like Pompey wouldn't be allowed to spend way beyond their means to try and stay in the Prem. Everyone has to live within their means. If that doesn't give you the players to stay in the Prem, you don't deserve to be ther. - No sugar daddies bankrolling clubs like Man City and Chelsea ruining English football. - Smaller clubs have more chance of holding on to players like Walcott, AOC, Lallana etc. - Better infrastructure being developed at grounds. This means: - - Better youth set ups, more home grown tallent and a better national side. - - Fewer matches postponed as more grounds have undersoil heating, better covers, drainage etc.
  2. On my street - 3 In my local area - 1132 Not going to leave my street ever again.
  3. F ducts banned, KERS is back (although the new teams haven't got it) and there are variable rear wings which can be lowered to overtake when you're within 1s of the car infront. Could be interesting.
  4. Are you talking about the season in general or just tonights game?
  5. I'm not that excited, but you can't in all honnesty criticise Forte unless you've seen him play half a dosen games. At least see him play once before questioning his signing.
  6. We were fairly underwhelmed by signings like Harding, Antonio, Otsemobor, Seaborne and Martin in the last year or so, but they've all come in and done a pretty decent JFU. These aren't the Lowe days of making pointless signings the manager has never heard of, like Forecast, Pulis and Gasmi. We signed Forte because Adkins clearly rates him, having already managed him at a previous club. Obviously there is something about him that Adkins likes otherwise he wouldn't have bothered. That should be good enough for anyone on here, regardless of what wiki or any of the Scunny forums say.
  7. People gathered around Stoke's training ground this evening. Why? Just why would you stand there freezing your tits off. Are they expecting to sign Ronaldo or something?
  8. Lambert could of course be signing for Middlesborough, Sunderland or Hartlepool.
  9. It's simply astounding how he can just to such depressing conclusions based on absolutely nothing. Going from "Liverpool have bid £35m+ for Carroll" to "Saints wont get promoted" in one post really takes a mongumental effort.
  10. Or John Knox from Stenhousemuir.
  11. I was thinking more along the lines of 'Boring Prehistoric Hole in the Ground' to reflect the vibe of the town.
  12. They really should rename s*****horpe.
  13. Harry Redknapp on SSN reminding me of the Hispanic maid on Family Guy. "No, no. Meeser Aguero is no here."
  14. To what? If I were Mike Ashley I would take £30m and laugh my arse off for several days. I think if Newcastle sold Carroll for £30m+ they would be a tad more ambitious than a couple of million for a League 1 forward.
  15. Here's Sauber's effort. Another high nose.
  16. Wonder if anyone is having a medical at Blackpool today.
  17. Just heard from a very reliable source that Saints have had an offer for Cheltenham striker Wes Thomas accepted. The fee is apparently around £450k. This is apparently the player being unveiled at Staplewood later. Anyone know much about him? I completely made that up. Same as any of the mongs on 606, so can we please stop posting rumours from there and claiming 606 is a source. It isn't. It's a f**king rumour network where anyone can post anything.
  18. You mean Fonte who is infact pronounced 'Font'? I hope not.
  19. Personally I wouldn't want to risk Saints going under for all of that. Yes winning an FA Cup is nice, but at the end of the day it's just 1 day out. a 2-2 draw at home to an ageing Milan side is hardly exciting either. We once drew 2-2 at Highbury, easily as difficult a game, probably tougher.
  20. Contract expires in 2012. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11747_6712740,00.html
  21. I'd bet a million pounds and a testicle we don't sign Beattie. Infact if I had to bet my wedding veg on something I'd bet we don't sign anyone at all today.
  22. Such a shame that in 6 months it will be completely obsolete.
  23. I mentioned this to Baj last week. My idea was also to have a 'post of the day' box at the top of each forum. If you wanted to take it to another level, you could also have post and poster of the month, depending on who gets the most 'likes' on their posts.
  24. A home tie against Crawley if we'd beaten them. Who said we could never get to the final?
  25. I had a though on this matter whilst on the train to todays game. Let's say Saints wanted to rest some first team players for whatever reason. They should release a story on the OS like this, the morning of the match: Saints Hit by Freak Injury Crisis Southampton look to be without no less than 9 first team players for todays fixture against xxxxxx after a sudden bout of injuries to the squad. Adam Lallana is in hospital having his testicles untwisted after attempting too many step overs in training. Rickie Lambert is unwell after having too many beans on his breakfast. Richard Chaplow is busy getting a hair cut. Morgan Schneiderlin is on strike. Jose Fonte is suffering from back spasms after a particularly energetic sex session with someone elses missus. Frazer Richardson is suffering spasms after an energetic sex session with someone elses missus and Lee Barnard is away filming another remake of Mean Machine. It would be 2 fingers up to the FA/football league. Whoever. We could then challenge them to prove the players weren't legitimately injured.
