Biden's going all Sixth Sense 'I see dead peope' https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/feb/08/joe-biden-kohl-mitterrand-gaffe-age-questions

Been coming for a while, Zelensky’s ego couldn’t cope with his popularity.

Was it not Blair in 1998 who gave it juristication in UK
-
Situation is depressing. The clear wheeze of let's claim i'm a christian(yet then go back to being a good muslim) to ensure UK can't kick out a sex offender under ECHR rules The Turkey isn't a safe country according to ECHR
-
The one appearance I saw it seemed he had no understanding of defensive positioning

Lots of costly pledges, no difficult how we are going to pay for them, which is exactly why they flopped at the polls Renationalising everything. It wasn't a goal to renationalise 1 thing and show how successfully it could be run afterwards. Renationalising a parcel delivery company makes little sense & would be costly but communication union would be happy i guess. Equally renationalising energy firms doesn't actually make much sense. They're not producers and would be extremely expensive. Starmer's idea of a green energy production company is much more promising imo. Water, very costly to buy back, plus expensive maintenance that's an unsexy budget drain, which was the same problem pre privatisation when there was underinvestment. Railways are the easiest given the franchise system. Given how bad BR was, i'm not convinced it would be better than my local well run franchise but there certainly are bad franchises you can start with. Freezing pension age- cost billions Care service- govts of every stripe have been trying to get to grips with, because it costs so much Scrapping universal credit- loads of disruption, they didn't even have a replacement mapped out Free bus travel - more money Loads of council homes, every govt promises house buildings falls vastly short, & i'm guessing costly

Still the pile of twaddle it was at the time

I'm curious about the actual production vs the financial outlay equation looks.

We were 2 nil up in 3 of our last 4 home league games by 64 minute, where we ended up winning by 4 plus. You could have given players meaningful time in any of those.
-
We're playing players we splunked massive transfer fees on, that's a huge difference in motivation to play them. If anything doyle could improve his chances of playing for Saints by moving to city for a year and not playing
-
2 minutes for Dibling as the grand total for academy players in the last 3 months of championship football certainly hasn't shown us that

I think assuming trump is going to follow established norms is risky. I wouldn’t be at all shocked if trump tried to find a way to remove the term limit that was only added to constitution in 50’s if he took into his head that he wanted another go at being elected.(he probably wouldn’t succeed) Yes a lot of what he says is stupid bluster. His attempts to overturn the previous result weren’t just bluster though, hence why I said I understand people’s fears.
-
Yeah I can see the argument to this year’s approach to some degree. Edozie, bazanu, Charles etc are sadly more theargument why academy players should leave imo and go to the biggest club that’s interested.
-
sitting on a bench, what dreams are made of. If you don’t trust giving them genuine minutes in this league, in what world are you going to give them ones in the tougher league above.
-
Trump has actually used the words ‘be a dictator’ and he tried to overturn the democratic election last time round, so I can sort of understand the domestic fears of the other side.
-
Being in a squad for a cup game is not a genuine pathway.
-
Can’t say I’m surprised at Doyle news. More money, club on the up. There doesn’t really feel like much of a pathway here either still.
-
He's fantasist that's for sure. That said I do think there's a load of war hawks petrified that he'd throw a bucket of water over the Russia conflict.
-
So apparently we all need to be ready to join a 'citizen army' to fight the Ruski's. So depressing that the General Melchett school of generals is alive and well. Maybe we can use some cricket bats when nukes start flying.
-
Any chance we are going to pay up to make someone like Downes a permanent signing now?
-
JWP on penalties for West Ham now
-
Some ex nato general suggested something similar. Seemed a dangerous wheeze to me with the real intent of triggering an incident. Not least because you’d think Ukraine would make attacks from protected zones
-
Of course it is utter nonsense, unless you get Russia or its allies(china/Iran etc) to sign up, which there's zero chance of ever happening. Working in what way, if only countries already supportive of Ukraine sign up.
-
Personally don't see much rationale in signing a 30yrd old on a permanent basis. He's a useful loan player at championship level but not convinced we should be splashing money for a permanent deal if we get promoted let alone if we end up stuck in this division.

Find this nonsense about a 'peace formula' truly comical. "Ukraine pushed ahead with its peace formula to end nearly two years of war with Russia with a meeting of national security advisers from around the world in Davos on Sunday. Andriy Yermak, the Ukrainian president’s chief of staff, posted photos of the meeting’s opening and hailed a “good sign” that the number of participants in a string of conferences on Zelenskiy’s peace formula was growing; nearly half from Europe, as well as 18 from Asia and 12 from Africa. “Countries from the global south are increasingly getting involved in our work. It shows understanding that this European conflict is in fact a challenge for all humanity,”(Guardian)
