Going to go with.... that’s a weird lineup.(and hope to have to eat humble pie after the game) I wanted to see tella play but not as a LB. pretty damning indictment of small signing. Not a fan of playing 5 at the back against Liverpool, thought Ralph admitted it was wrong last time we tried it against them.
-
Yeah I think he could a very good signing (dependent on the fee). Add some leadership at the back.
-
More importantly what's his long throw in technique like?
-
Personally i think it's crazy to play 5 at the back vs liverpool as shown last time we played them and tried that. That's playing into their hands, to me 4-5-1 makes much more sense as you congest the area of the pitch they want to play in. If you don't want your fullbacks to bomb forward, tell them not to bomb forward as much.

I'd look to release Long & Forster. Possibly Stephens if his contract hasn't been extended. With Walcott either try and agree a payout or find a club to loan him to. In terms of sales (sell bednarek & elyounessi & hopefully redmond). Probably loan out djenepo as i think we'd struggle to sell him. I'd prefer not to sell JWP, unless he's got a release clause. I'd definitely keep Tella and probably keep Adam Armstrong & Diallo unless you got a good bid for them. 1) We need a keeper (i'd be looking for some in 24-26 age range, who's got some experience but still room to grow). If we're talking Irish keepers i'd the 25 yr old prefer Peacock-Farrell over the 20 year old Bazanu. Played a few games in the prem as well as having experience in both Championship and League 1) 2) We are going to need a CB, once again look to bring in someone in late twenties with some leadership ability. Would someone like Lascelles be surplus to requirements at Newcastle? 3) A youngish CDM, either on loan or with a view to replacing Romeu 4) A winger with real pace. 5) Obviously we need a striker who can score some goals, no clue who to target. 6) Some sort of fullback loan to cover the loss of Livramento.

Hope article is nonsense. We’ve spent 2 years getting rid of Gunn and waiting to get rid of forster. To then extend forster and buy a replacement Gunn would be idiotic.
-
I’m not saying tella is a necessarily a rising star. I think he’s a useful option at the least, especially given our lack of pace in the team as the Brighton game showed. I don’t really agree that he should have gone on loan this season, maybe the previous January but at that point we had a tiny squad full of injuries. Maybe in 2 years years time he’ll have lost his way in the manner of djenepo.
-
For sentimental reasons (given how shabbily he was treated) i wouldn’t have an issue with Adkins coming back. It probably wouldn’t work but when you’ve been through the likes of Hughes / pellegrino / puel you know there’s worse possibilities out there.
-
He finished 6th and 4th for Swansea despite them trying to sell anything that moved. Went to a forest team in free fall and led them into the play offs.
-
I didn’t see the palace game(but heard he was poor) but he was one of best players in the Brighton game. So many other players have had multiple bad games and get constant starts, so don’t see why a bad game should equate to a spell in the cold.
-
With Livramento out for a year you’d think he’d just be getting his head down and trying to grab the opportunity that has presented, rather than speaking out. His defending in the cup outing was very concerning so I hope that was an aberration.
-
Sorry don’t agree. The idea that clinging off the relegation precipice would somehow be taken as a grand achievement if they’d just waited till the last day to achieve it is wrong.

Mccarthy kwp lyanco salisu perraud tella Diallo Romeu jwp armstrong adams

Bringing on Romeu then was probably sensible to stop it becoming 4 or 5. What was clueless was doing nothing for 70 mins and then when he finally reacted it was the bizarre elyounessi move, which he had to fix later with the Romeu one.
-
I'd rather play something like 4-5-1.
-
He was a bit better in the first half today. Still bemused that neither him and Armstrong weren't hooked at some point during the game.
-
At this point in time attractive football is on the 'nice to have' list not the 'must have' list imo.
-
He may have promise but the last thing Saints need(if they stay in the prem) is a 20 year old with experience of playing in league 1.
-
Today was just predictable, including the head scratching let's not bother with subs despite us looking horrible. Surely it would have made more sense to have been less open, maybe go back to the 5 at the back and try and counter on Brentford. Interested to see if we see a GK change again as we're back to looking completely suspect at balls in the box.
-
Are Everton or Brentford a Wolves?
-
Weren't there people before the Villa game arguing how few of their squad would make a best combined XI.
-
Just saw Chelsea fell apart again. Not exactly heartering given we may need them to save our bacon by beating Leeds.
-
Not saying Dyche would be my preference but wouldn't be howling in outrage at the notion given how soft saints currently are. In the championship Cooper looks good(if Forest stay down). Wilder is also a decent manager.
-
Probably fitting if he goes after another 9 nil.
-
That would be atrocious. Effectively ' a we don't care if we get relegated/ don't take seriously the situation' message
