I can think of a few where he's falling over trying to get any body part in contact with the ball in order to get it over the line? Is that what you mean? 😅😛 But joking aside, he has scored some absolute beauties. I've just always felt that on instinct he knows where the goal is and will score belters - these are his best goals where he hasn't stopped to think about it. But then equally, when he has too much time to think about it, he lacks compsure / decision making and is likely to balls it up. As far as opposition defenders go, our attacking numbers pair well with Adam's pace / power - and you usually see him dominating individual defenders. A striker with good finishing who can feed off the space and knock downs that Adams creates would do very well. Which is where Armstrong has been particulary dissapointing. I think thats partly why Danny ings did so well with us.

Agree with what you and the others say re Che, always thought it harsh as to how he gets criticised by some as I see him as an important player for us, and one that gets better the more he plays - If he can sort out his composure in front of goal he'll be a very good striker for a lot of prem teams. I also think Armstrong has the potential to make it in the prem. He has pace, is two footed, and knows how to score. But for whatever reason its not worked last year. But... If we can get things clicking for those 2 (and CAMs), then in an attacking sense, the pair have all the attributes to cause a lot of problems. On that, I thought playing broja so much last season was odd. I felt Che offers more than him, and that ultimatley Armstrong is our asset and needed development time. I can therefore only assume that broja's game time was partly a marketing ploy for this summer - I.e. Game time for youbg players from top academies. But I won't be too disheartened if we do start with Adams and Armstrong, but we need additional cover (delap?) regardless.

Seems odd that we'd go down the loan with option to buy route, and then include a buy back clause for spurs. Bad news if this is the case however.
-
Consider as well that people want us to spunk £30m on broja, who scored 6 goals in 33 games last season (2000minutes).
-
Agreed. I actually really rate him for saints and think he's important to the team. His strength, hold up play, and work rate never fail to impress, and he gets amongst the goals a fair amount as well despite our poor service to him last year.

I didn't specify who he was a fan off, just that he was a football fan 😏. I think someone implied a differing meaning to that 😌. But I'm confident he is also a saints fan regardless. Lots of people have second clubs and he obviously likes saints... 😅😉. Also none of this makes any bearing on the point myself and Steve were making, which was about his showing as an journalist, nor does it have any bearing on MLG insinuation that a person's accent is reliable evidence of which team they support 😛.

Not sure what's going on here... I'm already finding myself impatient for the next signing... 😅 Also, I'm expecting 3 more in total at least! 😁🤗 Great summer so far 😎
-
Yes, 2009 for sure. Fonte, rickie, seaborne, jaihdi, Harding, papa waigo, trotman, Hammond, murty, puncheon and others. Was a total rebuild that summer from memory. Good memories though. Lee Barnard as well! Edit - and a certain west ham centre forward as well! Absolute bullet at Wembley 🤗

I'll never forgive the balding idiot for that (and many other dealings). Took us from Europe to being financially stricken and a relegation contender in his climatic 12-18months of horrendous of dealings 🤮😵😩💔
-
Well with aribo joining we've gained another one! 😛
-
Can't be, he has an America accent... 😛 😀
-
So you are saying that having an accent is Immediatley reliable evidence that someone supports a club from that region? I'm afraid that logic is rather flawed if applied to a vast tranche of football fans... Prince William in particular isn't well known for his strong brummie accent 😛
-
Surprised you've got so many confused reactions to this!? I mean I like the guy, but he's a fan who commentates and the club use him like a PR mouthpiece/mascot who gives them free press releases and publicity. Nothing at all against the guy, but pretty much all his information is because he is the BBC Radio Solent pundit for the club 😅 - we'll never know what he'd be like as a journalist outside of that role because he doesn't do it and be doesn't need to either.
-
I don't have them 🤗

Everton can't afford what we'd ask, its a non story imo.

From GrandOldTeam: "Basically, we have misspent our money on ageing players - too many managers - the introduction of a DOF position - BK stated we needed a billionaire we got one or two behind the scenes, the main unofficial money man is asset frozen due to the relations with Putin = We are skint plus walking a tightrope on the fair play rules - the deadwood is not moving much - we have sold one-star player to try to balance the books - you are correct Lampard has a tough season ahead - sad, but true ..... I am afraid its bargain basement signings - plus the odd free signing ..... & a fight to keep our star players ....." In some ways similar to the struggles saints have had in recent years - difference being we're now coming out of it whilst their troubles are just beginning.

Well he signed for Ralph after being loaned here for a year... so its unlikely he doesn't like him or rates him badly.
-
Can Everton even afford him though? They've just survived the last FFP deadline, and Moshri wants to sell so is he really going to support pumping more money into Everton that he can't recoup?
-
Well... we all knew there was going to be sales to pay for the spend. And we're still nowhere near the rumoured double figures in and out.... Still, you've got to think that we won't sell easily our second best player given Tino's injury and his remaining contract length? Also, its seems somewhat against our revised transfer strategy to sell a player for big bucks and then get held to ransom for a replacemnet.
-
A really good appointment and yet another statement of intent by the club following takeover. Feel like we're at the start of an upwards momentum curve again 😋
-
I think this is it for me. Broja might turn out to be the nuts in a few years but feels like the ship has ultimately sailed for saints - this is the downside with taking on loan deals with no option to buy. His loan generated enough interest to drive up his transfer fee and wages, and that has pushed him into quite a risky bracket for saints. The clubs looking at him have a history of overpaying on players / lower financial constraints - But if we spend all that money and he doesn't deliver accordingly it will be like Boufal, Lemina, Hoedt all over again (in terms of impacts on our financial power going forward).
-
To each their own, but personally if saints are going to spend £30m on a player, i'd rather it was someone who didn't go missing for more than half the season and had a better record than 6 goals in 2000minutes of premier league football. That is an awful lot of money for saints, and i'm far from convinced it would be best spent on Broja - it feels like a lazy link just because we want a striker and he was on loan here last season. Why do people think that because we buy him (rather than loan him), that his attitude and contribution will significantly improve to justify that kind of outlay? If he had bagged 10-15 goals then maybe...

A few other names of note on that list, and a nice message from nigel in the replies as well.
