  1. It is when you don't play them. Poch is literally point in case. Chambers, Shaw, Gallagher etc. Barely any game time at any club since he left. Relatively speaking.
  2. One of the best posts I've read this summer. Hat tipped.
  3. I heard it was near 100k from the second it was signed. Widely accepted value.
  4. good for him. A victim of circumstance at saints.
  5. We had a core team that had come up through the leagues previously. These were good players, coming into their prime, and used to winning. We supplemented that with some quality buys that were similar mentality and the best of their current level (Jayrod, Clyne) for example. In short, a squad of players all on the up. On the whole we ditched that strat the summer Poch left. And whilst Koeman built a squad of good players from what he knew, he somewhat plastered over the cracks - and we had the first signs of what was to come with peripheral signings. Since the we have been in an epic downward spiral. I can't think of one signing in the past 5 windows that matches key players from the end of our 13/14 season. This squad is crying out for players like Morgan, Lallana, Clyne, Lambert, Jayrod, Fonte, Shaw, Wanyama etc in their saints primes. Our best players left are....? I don't want to be negative, we are where we are, and this window in isolation appears goods. I'll always support players that try for the shirt, but our transfer policy post Poch/Mitchel has been an utter F'ing shambles I coined it first (although glasgow took it to new levels of trollieness), but we had positive momentum (glasgow's "momentum curve"). Now we sadly have the opposite. And its harder to get it back than it is to lose it sadly.
  6. You'd say comparing his stats for similar experience, teams, and age is meaningless.... but then put a kid down because he isn't comparable to Kane's current form, experience and age as a world class striker.... This place is getting more and more unbearable by the day. I don't know whether to laugh or cry tbh.
  7. This thread should be saved for comedy gold. We lose a pre-season friendly when we barely have the whole squad back from summer, and some within the fanbase actually start abusing players. That is some classy, intelligent, and knowledgeable fans we've got
  8. Again, so quick to write off players. .... He is very similar to Kane.... Harry Kane 10/11 - Leyton Orient (League 1) - 18 games, 5 goals. - aged 18 11/12 - Millwall (Championship) - 22 games, 7 goals - aged 19 12/13 - Norwich (Premier League) - 3 games, 0 goals - aged 20 12/13 - Leicester City (Championship) - 13 games, 2 goals - aged 21 Goals per game in = 14/56 = 0.25 14/15 - Tottenham (Premier League) - 10 games, 3 goals - aged 22 ************ 15/16 - Tottenham (Premier League) - 34 games, 21 goals Samuel Gallagher. 13/14 - Southampton (Prem) - 18 games, 1 goal - aged 17/18. 15/16 - MK Dons (Championship) - 13 games, 0 goals (Relegated) - aged 19/20 16/17 - Blackburn (Championship) - 43games, 11 goals (Relegated) - aged 20/21 - very comparable to Kane's Millwall season in terms of goals per game. 17/18 - Birmingham (Championship) - 33 games, 6 goals (Relegation scrap) - aged 21/22 - this is very comparable to Kane's Leicester season, but SGC was playing for a far worse side and being played out of position. Goals per game 18/107 = 0.17. - but distorted by SG's early saints games in the prem (at a young age) and his loan into a very poor MK dons side, also at a young age. Gallagher has had a serious injury and personal issues, plus he has played for worse sides. Despite that, his record is not significantly worse than Kane's, especially considering that Kane is regarded as one of the worlds best CF's. SG's goals per game at Blackburn and Birmingham is .224. The kid is worth a shot in the team. FYI - Shane Long (for years 14/15 + 15/16 + 16/17 + 17/18 ) 20goals in 122 league games. (0.164 per game). And I like long!
  9. He would score. For sure.
  10. Yeah, but he hasnt got it

  12. Hah, love it! The sooner he is off the books the better for me. Adds absolutely nothing to the club.
  13. I am convinced that Gallagher has what it takes and just needs a manager to have faith in him. Similar to what Kane got with Poch.
  14. Ultimately Sean Dyche has shown what a well drilled team can do. Alot of other sides are not as well bonded or drilled. They spend fortunes on players with little thought to chemistry and some of them ultimately struggle. Sadly i think Bournemouth will struggle in the coming seasons. That is not a sustainable outlay for them. In comparison i feel comfortably with Hughes and our approach this summer.
  15. I'm sorry, am I not allowed to say, "the muppets in our fanbase"? Do you not understand that phrase? I didn't call our fanbase muppets, i called those that discriminate against a particular race muppets. In spite of the obvious case that the south americans include some of the world's greatest players? Maybe you disagree with that as well? Or Fred, do you seriously think that we are different to all other clubs and include no moron fans, and that as a fanbase we are all perfect little saints? Either learn to read or don't misquote people. You make yourself look like a moron or a bell end otherwise. Sadly you do appear to be someone who takes umbridge at any imagined slight and uses it as a good enough reason to insult them on a web forum. Oh and by the way Fred, its fecking obvious to most football fans that you should approach all transfers on a player by player basis. The alternative approach would be something like west ham saying they won't sign any African players etc. Summer (and a rare decent one at that), has clearly gone on too long for you. May I suggest you stay away from the keyboard until August comes around okay?
  16. He'll be crap. He is south america. Just like Ederson. Didn't you know, all south american's are disastrous? ***** Hi Fred - also another good south american. ***** In all seriousness, this is a great upgrade for liverpool, and with Keita as well they've defo strengthened this summer. I do think they lack another striker to help Firmino (also south american, Fred), and I can't see Salah having the same seasons (although Mane is going to improve). Certainly top 3 for pool next year
  17. I got rinsed on here for moaning about us selling him for £13m. The club plants have become very obvious over this summer.
  18. I don't expect they'll sell many more than the season before etc. Just sold them a lot more rapidly.
  19. Suarez and Forlan were also utter crap. Don't worry though, the muppets in our fanbase would turn down Cavani and Messi if the opportunity to sign them arose. Because those fans are just muppets and there is no point arguing with blinkered viewpoints.
  20. The club didn't want to give him the deal he wanted, and it was his final contract so he looked elsewhere. The club turned that into a massive PR slander against him....
  21. Whether his role has changed or not, there has been a clear change in strategy. We have reverted back to signing players who've hit their glass ceiling at the club's there at, rather than squad players not wanted at other clubs. Its the policy we had in the first few seasons after promotion and characterised signings like Clyne and Jayrod. Not sure why it has changed, but it has. Maybe its the new balance between Hughes and Reed. Maybe Reed has had his wings clipped? And maybe he realised he was doing a terrible job and went back to what worked before. Either way. The club are presiding over a good window so far. Credit where it is due. And I for one am glad the strategy has been revised and improved!
  22. Quality signing for me. We've gone back to the policy in our first years in the prem. Signing promising players who are at the top of the rung below. Very interesting that this is after the rumoured reduction in powers for our previous transfer guru.
  23. Are there any highlights of the schalke match? - scratch that, found them on the official site.
  24. I thought that. Coutinho maybe? It needs a defensive midfielder as well. And Neymar would be absolutely nowhere near it. not even on the bench. He has done serious damage to his nations footballing reputation in just 5matches. Embarrassment of a player.
  25. It is a no brainer. He should be given a shot in the team just as much as Long and Austin. He has proven himself at every level he's been tested at.
