It's called putting on a show. Southampton have to look strong in the media, that they put up a fight and got a good deal. United understand that Southampton can't be seen to give up their best young talent without putting up a fight and Southampton fans would all berate the board if he went at the first bid. Now you'll all turn around and say 'glad we got that extra few million' 'the board did a good job to get them paying over the odds' when it will just be the same deal that was always agreed. Members of the media will feed the story because they have to toe the line with clubs if they want exclusives in the future.

You think saints would let him go with the first bid. This is all about making it appear as if they are squeezing more money out of United and trying to keep hold of him. The fans would be mad if they let him to straight away. It's done
-
Its a matter of time. Its all just posturing, the lallana bid will have helped saints position. Theyll have suggested that they will only sell one player and to up the bid. Will be wrapped up in the next few days
-
I don't expect anyone to believe me and you don't have to. However, the deal has been ongoing since January. United went in for him and were told not now and respected it. Between January and today both clubs have had chats, in round about ways, to make it clear: 1 if a deal could be done and 2 in what kind of price range. The player and his family and people have had discussions with the both clubs and made it clear that if United could agree a price that he would be happy to move. It is why Chelsea are actively pursuing another left back, who plays for a leading Spanish side, and City won't bid, because they know he doesn't want to go there. The reasons are 'sporting' but the money will have helped too. Of course the club will have said that no bids have been received, technically they hadn't but you must remember that United never made a 'bid' for mata.

It's a done deal and has been for a long while Will probably be for slightly more than 27m but most likely just add ons after that sum which are target based and sell on profit etc It won't be Chelsea or City either

The club will sell Shaw and maybe lallana if he pushes for it this summer, mopo would be smart to leave. If the saints then start to fall apart he looks. Genius, reputation intact
-
you can see his translator thinking '**** im going to be out of a job soon'
-
Down to you whether you believe me or not but... shaw and his family would prefer a move to united. So i think this is probably true
-
Selling Shaw wouldn't be that bad for you and I think it's actually reasonably likely. 1. Pochettino won't be too bothered, he is clearly going to leave at the end of the year and will give him a good chance to either walk out now or leave with a great reputation and blame someone else. 2. It's a position which can be replaced reasonably easily, you can easily get a LB of a similar level for half the money plus you have target coming through. 3. The chairwoman might want pochettino out and can save money by getting him to walk whilst also making some good cash. 4. It's probably paper bull**** and won't happen. 5. If Moyes will promise him the LB role, which seems to be the story, then it's an offer Shaw will have to take very seriously

Devils advocate, but if mopo goes and you sell lambert and shaw for somewhere between 30-40m for the pair then that's a pretty decent transfer kitty to tempt a new manager with and persuade the team that you can still compete. Luckily, due to your points total, if it all falls apart a bit this season then you should have until September to get the club back together and still be ok. -
United fans are very impressed with this signing!

Dennis Irwin, evra is supposed to be moving on so it makes sense to me
-
Rumouredto be moyes' top target from sources within united

Twitter is always the way forward these days, if you ever need to complain and want to be taken seriously and not fobbed off then that is the place. Companies don't like being dragged through mud in the public eye.
-
Honestly get onto them on twitter, for some reason clubs dont like being publicly shamed. Send out a tweet aimed and the club and get as many of us to retweet it as possible and I can pretty much guarantee by this time in 48 hours it will be sorted, probably with some extra compensation too. This is an absolute joke and they should be disgusted.

How far are we off a Top 6 place (fifth or sixth in all reality)?

Probably about £275m in transfer fees away -
Martinez to Everton I would imagine
-
Goodbye Europe via the fair play!
-
Ramirez looks like hes bulked up a lot
-
CB has to be the priority this summer. Hooiveld is no where near PL class and Yoshida is probably more suited to being a backup option
-
I'd like to see Mayuka/Puncheon now front 4 arent doing much
-
Typical that as soon as Shaw goes in my fantasy team he cant get a game! I guess MP is doing the sensible thing and resting him so that he doesn't burn out, he's not bee quite as good in the last few weeks and its not good for a young lad to be playing at that level so often
-
Forren is so unfit he has to wear a sports bra
-
If you could get one play in now who would it be? Realistic options

Chalobah would be a great signing but I think he's destined for the Chelsea first team unless they manage to **** that up somehow
