  1. FWIW I agree, jaidi is a character and I like him a lot, good player to have at the club as well with his experience and attitude.
  2. He's too 'english' by which I mean, not comfortable in possession and not cultured. Good ball winner but I don't think he looks good value.
  3. I agreed with his ideology in principle, but his execution was rubbish and he went too far with it.
  4. Killer was injured in the warm up at nottarf, we were able to replace him in the squad.... I can't remember what happened next though... Have a 2 hour gap in my memory...
  5. Some interesting points made on here, however, regarding the rule changes I think that cortese sees the 'homegrown' player rule as an opportunity for us to gain some ground on the top sides. If we can get ahead of the game and build a young team of lads from the academy supplemented with some good value signings such as hoiveld we could do better than our finances suggest. Lallana and Morgan count as academy products already. The academy will be vital in attracting good young talent to the club!
  6. Exactly what i was thinking, messi is making Adam look ****e tonight...
  7. If the only two options were 'a' and 'b' then a reluctant 'a' from me, but I think what will really happen is 'c' we tank them at home, go up anyway and they languish in league 1 or lower for a good few years.
  8. Indeed, even though he had a miserable time at pompey and had no reason to feel any animosity toward us... Before we started with the chanting that is.
  9. An absolute bargain if true, guaranteed prem class (top 6 prem class) who needs to rediscover his mojo, if anyone can NA can.
  10. This theo bashing is getting quite tiresome, he's a good player who has made some vital contributions for club and country in important and high profile games, he has given barca all sorts if problems. He's clearly going through a run of bad form but he is certainly not a sprinter who can't cross or shoot, that's just lazy rehashing of the opinions of knob end pundits like shearer and hanson. It would help if his fans got off his back and his manager stopped trying to turn him into a winger. This rumour seems massively unlikely, but, I wouldn't rule it out entirely especially if promoted he might be loaned out to us to rebuild his confidence
  11. Good to see no changes for tonight, no-one deserved to be dropped after sat and the subs give us plenty of different options to mix it up. Bit nervous about no sub keeper but we're clearly playing for the win, which is a good thing.
  12. People think you need pace to be a top prem striker... Not when you have a football brain like rickie. His touch, skill, awareness, movement and shooting are all top class, I think he'll do well in the prem... Hopefully with us!
  13. When there is no logic in your arguments then I am left looking for a less logical frame of reference to explain your ridiculous views.
  14. Indeed, every time I have seen him play he has worked his arse off. I hate to say it, but if he was 'white' I reckon we wouldn't be getting any of these lazy stereotypes thrown his way. He works at least as hard as Lambert and probably has as many off games...
  15. Totally agree, and to make it worse.... David batty did get to go.....
  16. Wonder if we had always intended to play 4 2 3 1 with lee on the left. Punch hasn't played in ages, don't want to push him too soon I guess, plus dc is a great finisher... You'd want a half chance to fall to him
  17. Indeed, the way Hammond played against Leicester he should consider himself lucky he made the bench. Hope we can turn it around second half, maybe a couple of early subs...
  18. Had a poor game against the skates but still could have scored the winner but for a good save, also he gets flak for abandoning his post (rightly so) but the unmarked header wasnt his fault. J He was by by no means dreadful against Leicester, he played very well with terrible service and no support, kept having to come deep in search of the ball. Still, Guly aside, it looks a strong squad so hopefully we'll grab a hold of this game in a bit!
  19. I'm pleased he said that really, I was beginning to wonder if sharp might be rubbish... But since saintneil90 also thinks Guly is rubbish we can clearly discount his opinion and look forward to watching sharp play. I think this looks like a good bit of business, proven quality, a steal at the price and still got age on his side so hopefully able to make the step up. Just goes to show that patience can sometimes pay off, I'm glad we waited to get the right man!
  20. Swansea and Norwich both seem to have built good squads without blowing loads of cash on one player, it's a model I prefer to west ham or qpr's I don't think there was anything wrong with the approach in the summer, we clearly wanted a tilt at the league but then so did lots of other teams. We could have gone **** or bust, loaded the wage bill, underperformed and be mid-table. Instead we made some shrewd signings and have ourselves in the position where we could now gamble a bit more as the risk vs return looks wholly different now. I think we'll be pursuing options but if we don't get our targets for whatever reason i'm prepared to back the judgement of both nc and na because they have both earnt it. I think we can all agree that the prolonged spat has in no way helped the club and no-one has come out of it well, we can throw around recriminations and analyse the why's and wherefores or just be grateful they've worked it out and we've got a talented player back competing in. Vital position. Last post of the day, but it's been good having a proper discussion on here for a change. Apologies for the lack of quotes, typos , bit of a faff typing long messages on my phone
  21. I can't imagine Swansea are paying big wages and they have shrewdly signed hungry players that look good value, as have naaarch. Qpr on the other probably are paying good wages... Just saying. In the summer we signed enough quality, which combined with our already decent squad propelled us to the top of the league, I still fail to see how we had a poor summer by anyone's standards, we seen to have added quality without rocking the boat and annoying the players who got us up. I will admit to not having been to a forum but the impression I got was that certain 'representatives' hogged the floor and shouted down opposing views, I won't argue this point though as I wasnt there, it is quite likely the nc was given similar information upon which he based his decision, let's face it iif he ever came and saw some of the nonsense about him on here you could understand why we he would take a different tack. On the last point I would venture that both of you are coming at it from an angle that wants to be sympathetic to punch because you are not enamoured of nc, if you're honest with yourself it's far easier to believe that punch acted like a **** (even if your only evidence were his tweets) than it is to believe he was an innocent party and the only player victimised by nc?
  22. Maybe we want to sign players who value success ahead of cash... It's not like our players are on the bread line. Maybe we're playing brinksmanship with a parbticular player who thinks he can get a better offer. Re fans forums I don't see why the club should have to open themselves up to the usual rentagobs and grandstanders. people should see this as more of a focus group exercise rather than overplaying it, most big business will occasionally have events where the ceo gets to meet customers for an informal chat, more opinions are likely to be heard and explored than in a larger event where people can feel nervous about speaking up. Of course it's unlike dune to assume the worst of nc, he took Puncheons apology for being an arse, as cast iron proof he had done nothing wrong.
  23. Excellent, so eventually all the posters with something to say will lose patience with the ****s who repeat the same sh1te across every thread, every ****ing day leaving the lunatics (and yes I do mean that literally) well and truly in charge of the asylum. Waste of ****ing bandwidth the lot of them. Just for the avoidance of doubt, you can't argue with trolls/manic depressives, you can't ignore them because other idiots quote them... So you might as well call them all c*nts and go out in a blaze of glory. I have been on here since the network54 days and I have had e-****ing-nuff!
  24. Now I like to think I am a fairly reasonable person, and I'd like to come up with a reasoned and articulate argument but what's the point, you clearly have an agenda and you will ram it down everyone's throat at any given opportunity, I would far rather have a professional like cortese in charge than someone like Wilde or crouch who gave into pressure from dickhead fans and spent stupid money gambling on promotion. We'll get the right players in, within our price range and on our terms. If it happens late in the window it'll be because they are good and their club want a good price, of course we could sign any number of squad fillers right now to appease 'fans' such as yourself who lack any kind of perspective. So, in summary, kindly f*ck. Right. Off!
