Saints Foreign Players
(not THE) Kevin Moore replied to Golac's Cunning Stunts's topic in The Saints
This! Anders was clearly a classy player and when playing for Sweden was played through the middle, and often given a free role. For all WGS's talents, he didn't know what to do with Anders and as far as I can remember he spent much of his time with us playing out wide (it's what we do with attacking CM's in this country, rather than accomodating them). -
Viafara was total w@nk APART from that memorable 2nd leg play off game. He was all effort and industry and a solid tackler but there is NO point winning the ball back if with your very next pass you give the ******* thing away again!! Idiakez was three times the player Viafara was, his trouble was he was playing on one leg by the time he signed for us and it affected both his availability and his mobility when he played. Any list that misses out Belmadi is also going to wrong, he was bloody brilliant (pretty sure he was still around at the time of the playoffs... but we went through SO many players in those few seasons I lose track so I could be wrong)!!

Maybe they were much cheaper? Not a very commercial decision to stick with a local company if they're overcharging. there are many, MANY reasons why they might have changed printers. I'd guess they'd have gone for competitive tenders and would have taken into account the financial health of potential suppliers as well as relevant experience, price, capacity, lead times... etc. etc. Obviously it would have been nice to stick with a local company but it's more important we get the best price for everything in order to remain competitive. It's a bit rich for people criticising Cortese for not being commercial (regarding advertising space) then slagging him off when he makes a commercial decision (surely done in the best interests of the club) in changing printers...

Some slightly ridiculous comments on here. I don't particulay like Nick becuase he clearly has agenda's, he's down on Kelvin and Harding to the point where he only comments when they fook up and never when they have excellent games. But this is silly, as Dell Days stated. Using the lack of advertisers as (yet another) stick to beat Cortese with is ridiculous. Cortese could be the most commercially astute man in the world but he wouldn't be able to affect the global downturn. As someone who works in marketing I can tell you that advertising revenues are down in general, and what money is being spent is not being spent in display advertising or sponsorship, because although they're good to get the brand out there they are not as effective at actually driving people to purchase your product. Asking a local business (they usually are more local for the pitchside spaces) to fork out thousands of pounds a year with no guarantee of a return on that investment is always going to be a tough thing to do in the current climate. Companies generally advertise because the MD is a fan, or to get some reflected kudos from the club, they will only do that if they can spare the cash. Sometimes Nick is right (even a stopped clock is right twice a day... and all that) but generally he uses what little influence he has to peddle his own petty agendas. Basically he doesn't like Cortese and therefore he will make whatever facts he has fit his assumptions, in this case... pitchside advertising.

Your favorite Saints goal clip...
(not THE) Kevin Moore replied to Saint-scooby's topic in The Saints
Do you know, my favourite bit about that isn't the first touch (the pass was terrible and behind him) not the first dink... nor the second... it's the shaping to wellie it then just opening up the body and rolling it into the corner... class -
Championship/ League One Play Offs
(not THE) Kevin Moore replied to SaintNeil90's topic in The Saints
I'm on Tykestv2.info... if you steal my bandwidth I'll kill you As others have said it'll be a shame that one of them has to lose, they've both been excellent, Udders have had the better chances but Bompey have carved out a couple of excellent goals -
Championship/ League One Play Offs

I turned on just in time to see the two goals priort to H/T and it's been an excellent game so far. Lovells second was a peach, and the move for the pen was also v good. -
Nathan Ellington might be worth a shout as a Pacey outlet up top, not sure what his recent form has been like but he was good a few years back. I got the 'E's' before getting bored....

It's a new contract for Adkins!!
(not THE) Kevin Moore replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Except when consistently proved wrong you'll just say that it WILL go wrong at some, unspecified, future date and that then you'll be able to say you were right all along... Quite a nice angle, because that way it doesn't matter what's happened before, or now because you KNOW for sure that it WILL go wrong and soon, very soon. This contract extension is great news! -
Worse than Olivier Bernard? Really? REALLY?
-
Am I the only one who is a bit meh about this? Benitez signed some absolute dross and this guy must have played some part in that surely? I know our ambitions are currently a few rungs below Liverpools and on the face of it he sounds good but nothing to get all moist about!!

don't anyone tell Gus 'best manager in the world innit' Poyet!!! He's already got a MASSIVE chip on his shoulder and I worry that this news might just put his back out!!! Oh and thoroughly well deserved I'd say, we all of us expected us to slip up somewhere but we relentlessly picked up the points while under extreme pressure from Huddersfield, that's down to the belief, team spirit and winning mentality instilled in the players by Adkins, and to the signings he welcomed aboard the bus in Jan.

The "Big" News - free "All Star" match on Sunday: K.O 3pm
(not THE) Kevin Moore replied to benjii's topic in The Saints
I'm going with my kids, redundancy has meant we only caught Swindon in the JPT this season, and I got a new job recently but too late to get tickets for Walsall so am really looking forward to Sunday, should be a good atmosphere. -
**** me, if even you're 'on the bus' maybe I'm worrying about nothing!! Good to have you along. I REALLY, REALLY hope we do it this weekend, the stress is killing me!
-
I don't think we can rely on Brighton, I don't think they will deliberately lose the game, or even put out a weakened side, but psycholigically I think they've lost their edge and won't be as up for it as Udders, last game at the Withdean or not. So I think (but will be listening to solent on Sat and fervently hoping otherwise) that it'll go down to the wire!!

Pretty good stuff, some belters in there... Can we nominate others for the list? CMFG away at Portman road will stay with me a long, long time... or CMFG's 40 yard lob against (Tranmere/MK dons?) in the cup... or CMFG's overhead kick against Wolves... Can you tell I have a lot of love for CMFG? ;o) Oh and Delaps overhead kick against Spuds.... screamer!!

Pitch invasion & end-of-season parties
(not THE) Kevin Moore replied to Tom8558's topic in The Saints
IF we don't go up this Fred (and many others like it) will look pretty fekking ridiculous won't it? I can see the Udders fans taking great delight in linking to any number of recent threads... there has been WAY too much chicken counting going on here since the weekend, we haven't done it YET, the time for this sort of Fred would be before the Walsall game and after (hopefully) two away wins! -
Or Oldham last year... timewasting from their very first goal kick... what a frustrating 90 minutes that was!!!
-
From listening the Brighton game on the radio (and as such I am depending on the viewpoints of the commentators) it sounded like we played 3 different formations in the game, and it was the third formation (ostensibly a 4-3-3 but probably more of a 4-2-1-3) that finally paid off for us, it's good to see a manager not only changing the personnel during the game but also radically altering the formation to exploit the oppositions weaknesses or ratchet up the pressure. For all the negativity surrounding the diamond Adkins is not averse to changing things if it's not working, the sign of the good manager IMHO.

Poyet compares us with Dagenham and Redbridge
(not THE) Kevin Moore replied to thegaffer's topic in The Saints
I had a lot of time for Poyet until I read those comments. What a prize 1 classless noob!! And the Brighton fans took issue with Adkins? Anyone who has seen us play would never accuse of being route one, yeah we can play it up when we need to (like Fonte's goal) but any team that contains, Lallana, Oxo, Guly, Chaplow and with 4 attacking fullbacks to choose from clearly has technical ability and when we get our passing game on we're irresistable. Would love to stuff Brighton out of sight next season... WHEN we play them. -
I'm with you, I was going to say I'd go back and make sure that Fab Fabrice started the game... we'd probably have got spanked but.... who knows?
-
I have fond memories of watching Gazetta, in bed, with a hangover... perfect weekend morning telly!!
-
I can't tell if this is praisin or hatin? I personally think James Richardson is a genius!! And how he isn't given one of the main football gigs, when Lineker, Shearer, Townsend, Chiles... et al get to sit there and spout sh1t is beyond me.
-
alberto seidi? Where did he come from? Is he a signing in the same sense as Jack Stephens?
-
Give me a Fernandes/Guly/Belmadi ahead of a Prutton/Quashie/Viafara anyday. It's skill and quality football that people talk about for years to come, I don't go to football to see people huff and puff round a pitch. I go to watch us win (hopefully) and in the hope that I'll see a moment of genuine class. I agree you want people to put a shift in and you can't have 11 players like Guly but the team can accomodate Guly if others work harder to compensate (that's if you buy into the whole he's Brazillian so therefore is lazy argument... which I don't).
