Bought 4 seats earlier and the guy reckoned they were still selling strongly, only 2 places in the chapel where I could get 4 together. Should be a good atmosphere, and it's my first game of the season (and my youngests first ever game) so here's hoping for a good performance and a win!

I love the fact that people are so convinced (by 'people' I mean dulldays and hypocrite) that Adkins has suddenly peaked and there is no possible way he could ever improve. I think nc has the balls to make the tough decisions and hope he sticks it out for a bit longer. A year ago Martinez was being touted for the chop, but he turned things around and in is now being linked with the big jobs. People, in all walks of life, can and do improve with experience. Imagine if you were promoted at work and you didn't get it straight away and then were canned within a few weeks.

If the players, manager and management based their decisions on what the fans wanted we'd be an even worse position than now. The headline here should be. My whu supporting mate would answer that they just the opposite start to us. Our confidence seems to be the biggest difference at the moment.

Answered my own question, gabbidon is at Palace but Zambrotta is still available. 35 years old so probably not at his best, but exactly the sort of quality, old head we need. And a world cup winner. Controversially, thought fox looked pretty good at cb last year could be an option if we can conjure up a left back from somewhere else.

Are there any free agents out there as a quick fix? It worked well with telfer and Williams under wgs. A few weeks back there were a couple of Italian lb's available both of them former internationals (cant remember their names) are they still free? Also, I believe Danny gabbidon was without a club, he was highly rated when he was younger but seems to have gone off the boil, could he come in and take one of our cb's out of the firing line for a bit?

Stick with him, even if we go down. He deserves at least until Jan for those less patient than me, especially since he is only partly responsible for the lack of defensive signings.

Always had a cheaky quid on jaidi as first goal scorer when he played. Strikes me as a top bloke and a model pro, pleased that it looks like he's being kept around in some capacity.

Sounds much more like the kind of player we would be looking at, right age and hopefully the makings of a good prem player. One of the more realistic rumours.

Bit of chicken counting going on here but IF we go up I would hope for no more than a handful of signings, our team spirit is an important part of our success. Maybe a new cm, rm, cb and cf. All young and improving, perhaps from top ccc teams.

Reading this thread it does seem like the pubs in Southampton will be free of sanctimonious uber fans.... So that's good news for us 'not proper fans' we can watch the game without fear of feeling inferior!

I'm not a proper fan am afraid so won't be abandoning my family for the day and will have to make do with watching it at a mates or on a stream... If only I didn't have the inconvenience of a wife, kids and mortgage I could spend every weekend watching saints and be a proper fan. If I could only make those choices again and focus on what's really important in life. Still, I might wear a funny wig...y

He wouldn't have been caught in possession for the second goal, he's just much better than Hammond, and I do like Hammond but his touch in tight situations is poor!

Every village has one, as does every forum it would appear. When we go up he'll instantly switch to stressing about how the current squad isn't good enough for the prem (just like it wasn't good enough for the champ) he won't allow himself any time to enjoy our success he'll just be expecting it to go horribly wrong sometime soon...

Completely disagree, he was much better last week and played some lovely passes, could have scored two and had assists.

Still a better option than punch or re ridder though... Or chaplow on recent form, so deal with it. If sdr had shot when clean through we might have won... So perhaps it's entirely his fault we didn't win?.... Since we seem to pin the blame on individuals rather than the collective. Last week it was all Sharps fault...

Man up you ****ing bed wetter. Compare our form with west hams rather than pick 1 result against a poor Barnsley side, or reading who made heavy weather of beating a depleted and down to 10 men Leeds side. Gutted we didn't win today but its another point nearer to promotion.
