In what, two games? Boo-frickin'-hoo. There are bound to be some bad performances now and again. 'Scuse me for not sounding the mayday alarm every singe time that happens. Newcastle was an odd game, it really could have gone either way, and we really didn't play that badly. QPR wasn't a great performance, but still we were only undone by 2 pieces of poor defending and a keeper making good saves. Norwich wasn't that awful a performance. How is it, that other teams form can change, but ours can't? We did play well against Everton, Utd,for the most part Wigan & City. Shows how form can change, so if it can slump, how can it not improve?

That wasn't actually aimed at you Bazza. It may well have been before you joined in November. At the start of the season, when we had a tough run of fixtures (surely we can agree on that?), and some said "well, we were never really expected to get much away at City/Arsenal etc" - a group of posters went through a phase of not being able to make a post without sarcastically going on about "writing off games" etc.

The change of manager I will agree with you I thought was bizarre. I said that at the time, and still do. Unlike you I rated Nigel, and thought he would keep us up. Also unlike you, I don't think MP is awful, or a tactical moron or whatever else it is he is being accused of. The english thing is exaggerated, as he is largely able to communicate to the players in English, and I can understand why he may want to have a better grasp before facing a rather unforgiving media, that surely we can both agree on, will happily twist things to make a story on a slow news day. Overall, I thought it was an odd decision, and not one I agreed with. However, unlike you, I think Cortese's track record with us so far (call me a CoC member if you must - but I think what has happened at the club in his time in charge is impressive) gives me cause to trust his decisions, and at least give them a chance. For example, I found the Pardew sacking odd, but in hindsight, it proved to be correct. For me, this managerial change (NA for MP) is too recent to decide definitively just yet. My point still stands however, you are just as quick to dish out the terms such as clappers or Cult etc, but then when people call you (or others such as Glasgow, 110% etc) bedwetters, trolls, negative etc you get all up in arms about it. Seeing as most people would have happily taken 17th at the start of the season (I know for a fact I would), I struggle to see how being out of the relegation zone, still with our Premier League status very much in our own hands with 9 games to go all that awful. Even more so after the opening 10 games, when many on here had us written off already, saying it was going to be embarassing, we would go down with a record low points tally, most goals against ever etc etc etc - it's really not all that bad. Well, in my opinion at least. Is that totally unfair do you think? Or am I just a brainwashed clapping cult member?

It's funny. The same people moaning about how we are definitely doomed to the despair of relegation now, are the same people that were saying how awful the Premiership was at the start of the season. Also, they are the ones that find the notion of challenging for Europe laughable, yet also say that we shouldn't expect to get beaten by the teams currently challenging for Europe. But they are the most consistent posters on the forum.

"Having mongboard rucks since 2000. 13 years undefeated." Takes one to know one, I guess.

Please Barry, read what I'm saying first. I don't think that is too unreasonable to ask. I posted that in response to a post that stated we had someone in charge that had no experience of a relegation battle. So, this was of relevance in the context I made it. I'm not saying what happened at the end is of no significance. That is just not to what I was referring.
-
Well it does, because that is what I was referring to, when I mentioned it first. You decided to mention his last season after this. So yes, it is of significance. Yet another example of you missing the point of a post, and putting your own meaning on it.
-
That is so far from the truth it is laughable.
-
Were they relegated during his tenure? I was also actually referring to the season he was appointed, when they were in a relegation battle, and he kept them up.
-
I forgot you were a superstar manager, scout, and CEO all rolled into one.
-
Every single time Barry. "When first appointed"
-
Once again you are arguing with the ether, putting words in other peoples mouths. What I said, is that he may actually be listening to the people he pays to tell him about players.
-
What, the guy that was tasked with, and successfully kept Espanyol in La Liga when first appointed?
-
Prove it. Let me guess, Adkins (a football manager, that has been in football all his life) had never heard of either, but Cortese, who knows nothing about football knew these players and decided to sign them. Maybe, just maybe, those people who are employed by the club to SCOUT for players that can potentially improve the squad suggested them. Or is it a case of, I haven't heard of them, so Adkins can't possibly have either?
-
You are now just pulling stuff out of the air. You are now basically claiming Cortese is running the club ala Flavio Briatore at QPR. With no evidence. Football has changed from the old days. It's pretty common at most clubs for the manager not to be solely in charge of players who come in, they instead identify areas that need strengthening and scouts find appropriate players, which are then presented to the manager and chairman (who has to make financial decisions), and then the signing process is often left to the chairman. Or are you going to stick to Turks made up (by his own admission) idea that Guly had a 15 minute appearance clause in his contract.
-
Why should he? Are you actually saying that he played no part in the two promotions, but is solely to blame for relegation? It will be a disappointment and a set-back, but it really won't be the end of the world. I still think the chances of QPR staying up and us going down are pretty slim. For all their amazing turn-around (2 wins), they are still 5 points behind us. What you are effectively saying is that the 4 teams below us, after 29 games, are suddenly going to be better that us in the final 9 games. Personally, I think this is unlikely.

I've actually missed you of late. Compared to the new breed of bedwetters, you are actually able to have a debate, as opposed to just circular discussions of the same points, riddled with inconsistency. EDIT: It should also be said, that some (not all) of the people who claim to be bastions of truth, on a noble crusade against the evil Cult leader Cortese and his brainwashed minions are just as abusive the other way. For, balance sake.
