How is £35m 'on the cheap'?
-
I've said elsewhere, I have an awful feeling he is going to do keep them safe. It will still make me vomit.
-
Many would call this form, which as we all know, is temporary. 2 wins (QPR) or 2 losses (us) is not really enough to say either way how the trajectory of a season is going. I try to take a more wider view of things. However, it's clear you have something of a penchant for reacting to every small facet of a season as the be all and end all, your prerogative, which I am inclined to disagree with.
-
This is the point I keep putting to Bazza, 110%, Turks, Glasgow et. al. It's funny how quiet they suddenly go when you ask them how come these teams that are so brilliant, and so much better than us have spent the majority of the season in the bottom 3, whilst we haven't, and they can't catch us up, despite our awful form.
-
You are the one using QPR's transfers as an example of what we should have done. I am the one saying I would rather we didn't. Read the post again Baz, I have not once used the word wise, I used balls/y - which was the term you used.
-
On point 3), I would be more inclined to agree if we were being dominated week-in week-out and on the receiving end of constant thrashings. However, this really hasn't been the case very often. That's not to say it has not happened at all, an obvious example is Arsenal away. A lot of goals conceded, or dropped points have come as a result of lapses in concentration, or individual errors. This is not to do with tactics, or the manager. If the team creates a lot of chances, but fails to score them, that is the fault of the players not the manager (e.g. it's hard to blame Pochettino for Lallana's miss on Saturday, though I'm sure it will not be too hard for you to find some nonsense excuse for you to blame 'Tino, Reed, Cortese, and probably Fox & Guly).

Do you have the memory of a goldfish. How many examples of clubs going belly up do you want to realise that this approach you seem to be lauding is a seriously bad one. Are you totally blind to what has happened to clubs the size of Leeds, whose 'balls' have meant a very big club (strong argument to say Leeds are bigger than Saints) they have been away from the top flight for nearly 10 years, and had a longer stint in League One than ourselves. Or what happened to us, when we went ballsy with Burley in the Championship. Or Portsmouth, who ran up in excess of £100m worth of debt for an FA Cup and a runners-up medal. Do I want us to go down? No, obviously not. Do I want us to still have a club, not reduced to a shell of it's former self if the worst does happen, massively no. So yeah, I'm ok with us 'doing it on the cheap' and spending a measly £35m on transfers this season. Oh boo-frickin'-hoo it's so awful being a Saints fan.

Wrong. luck can only go against us. FACT. i.e. We were lucky Boruc saved that penalty Saturday, but it was not unlucky that Newcastle scored an Offside goal, a dubious penalty, and a freak own goal. Or it was not unlucky that Rob Green probably made the best save he has ever made from Yoshida. We are the doom-mongers, we make our own rules, and dislike consistency. FACT. (saying fact in capitals makes what you are saying true, ask Turkish)

Amazing, the pampers posse were previously complaining how much we had spent and how much trouble we were going to be in as a result. Now, it's a case of we were trying to do it on the cheap. Funny how all the people who told us how crap Adkins was are now talking of him as the best manager ever, and calling his sacking the reason we will go down. Despite us still not being in the drop-zone, still 4 points clear, and having not been in the bottom 3 for months. And despite all these amazing teams that are oh so much better than us, and us being so awful, despite a couple of wobbly results - they still haven't reeled us in. Funny that, isn't it.
-
How can you seriously point to QPR as an example in this case? They have spent way more, pay way more in wages, and are still bottom of the league, like they have been the majority of the season, whereas it's been several months since we have even been in the bottom three, let alone the super-wise spending QPR. As flawed arguments go, this is amongst the best.

Apart from you, I barely see anyone else mention Reed. You appear to have some fixation with the bloke.

Saints charged by FA for failing to control players vs Norwich

Christ alive, previously people were moaning that under Nige we were too nice. Now we are too aggressive. Make your sodding minds up. -
LAD. Post more often please.
-
1) that would still make the game 1-1. 2) we would still be 2 points above relegation if we drew, or 1 if we lost. It's also a silly argument. IF Gazza didn't drop changers v Norwich & Swansea we'd be 8 points from safety. If Kelvin didn't drop that cross onto Berba's feet we would have an extra two points and be 6 points clear. This could go on either way, pretty much infinitely. I also didn't realise you had become the voice of the saints fan base, I missed that clearly.
-
We're going down? Based on what? How long has it been since we were in the bottom 3? Despite us being awful, our manager being useless, our tactics horrendous & our chairman being a baby eating egomaniac. If all the teams below us are so great, why is it they are still yet to reel us in? Please inform me of this oh wise oracle.
-
That scenario would require both of them to be 3 points clear of the bottom 3 though. Which I, personally, think is unlikely.
-
Do you not understand that not taking chances is not necessarily the managers fault. You can make drastic changes, which can jus as easily lead to creating much less chances. It would be far more concerning if the team was creating nothing. Now change those damp nappies and man up.
-
How are you not a football manager? You're insights are truly dazzling. Adders didn't really change a great deal post WBA, apart from swapping Fox with Shaw and Corks return to fitness. I'd suggest this is far from 'drastic', as you put it.

Know I just said this on another thread, but am I right in thinking villa and Wigan meet on the last day? If they are both still in amongst it, this could help us.
-
...oh sorry, yeah I think it may well do. But, I think we may be in a better position than last time.
-
Am I right in thinking Villa play Wigan on the last day? Could help us if both are still down there? They can't both win.

If we maintain our Premiership position

Morgan by a mile. Easily. -
Going to be very tight, interesting for the neutral. I've said all season I think we will stay up, I still think we will, just. Though I will confess to being more worried now than at any other point. Fuming about QPR, think twitchy is somehow going pull it off. I'll plump for reading, Wigan, Villa. Though I'll probably be wrong.
