  1. *Ahem* post 4865
  2. Largely agree, though Cahill for the first was shocking. Watch it again, he is basically up Johnsons arse. Both CBs were doing nothing in their own box. Against a team with Cavani and Suarez up front that is suicide. I don't actually rate Cahill that highly if I'm honest (yes contradicting my opening gambit) anything he does well is recovery. He's always making up for that fact he's cocked up to start with. Bit like Rio in that respect.
  3. Welbeck wasn't the problem. Rooney missing chances, Gerrard being utter crap, and Johnson/Cahill/Jagielka being sub-par were the problem.
  4. In fairness the way the Aussies played, they would too.
  5. Why do we do this to ourselves? Did we really expect anything different? It's like having a girlfriend that cheats on you every two years and still going back.
  6. 10 in 36 apps last year? That's not awful, granted it's not great. I'm not sure how many of those apps were from the bench mind.
  7. I was always told look at the uni, not the course. People don't generally know the ins and outs of which courses are good at each place, but the names of the institution will hold much more weight. For example, when I went to uni in 2007 the course I was doing was highly rated, but the courses at places such as Hull were seen as better. But, out of Leeds University or Hull University, which is going to look better? It sounds cynical, but people are snobs really (also lazy). I'd say go for the best uni you can, and ideally somewhere where you are going to live. Another more recent example is my step-sister, who went to uni a few years after me. She put in loads of research and ended up going to Teeside University. The course was great, and they did have great facilities. But, ultimately, she still ended up being met with "I've never heard of that Uni, is it new?" etc. Also, she was stuck in Middlesborough for 3 years, and ended up hating it. I feel for her, as I had a cracking time at uni (would certainly recommend Leeds for a student), whereas I feel she really missed out on the whole student experience. Obviously, it's not all just about the nightlife, and where you are living, but it's only a few years, and you really should try to make the most out of it. Sadly, I think it is a bit like "it's not what you know, it's who you know", only "it's not what you do, it's where you go".
  8. I like Hernandez, he seems a likeable character, but I agree. I don't think he's that great. Would much prefer Welbeck of the two. Offers a lot more in terms of all round game for me.
  9. She coming to Glasto, pap?
  10. Sorry to get awfully British on you folks, but yay! http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/glastonbury-2014-weather-set-to-be-balmy-and-dry-for-festivalgoers-9546158.html
  11. 3 of my 'Friends' like it. Surprised, considering how many of their posts had been popping up on my feed I would have been sure it was more than that. Havn't actually spoken to any of them for years. Prime for culling me thinks.
  12. Sorry mate, I'm not much help. I've never stayed in or even been to the campervan site so I have absolutely no idea.
  13. She'll be fine once she gets there and is a little bit mucky. You stop caring. Glasto is also far cleaner than some of the other festivals I've been to. I read something about how they've spent like £600k getting stench-free portaloos ready. PS. re: Metallica, I'm struggling getting my head around listening to a band for 20 minutes and still only being on their 3rd song. It's quite the adjustment for this little indie kid used to 3 minute bursts!
  14. I disagree. I've met people like him, flit from major catastrophe to the next on a daily basis. The sun and the sky are constantly falling in at the slightest thing. It's bizarre, tiring, and ultimately pretty depressing. There are plenty of WUMs around, they are different.
  15. The sad thing is, I really don't think he is a WUM. He's just that wet. I mean, you would think he'd learn his lesson. If not a change in thinking, at least a change in posting. I mean, surely, at some point you'd think some part of that brain would pluck up that little bit of courage and chirp in with: "Hang on mate, we've been here before. Should we just take a minute first? This hasn't gone too well for us in the past, has it?" Even a child would soon learn their lesson.
  16. Best, Eusebio and countless others did all their best work way before I was born. I still know who they are, and did from a very young age. Don't be so effing patronising.
  17. Yeah, I guess. They are fair points, I'm not suggesting he would do bad there. For me, I just think has the technical ability and confidence on the ball that would see him wasted at CB.
  18. Ah I just think chavvy upstart in a pair of knock-off G-Star Raws from Wembley Market.
  19. Why do so many people look at Chambers and think, "yeah, Centre-Back in that lad". I'm not saying I think he would be bad at it, I just have never got that feeling personally. I actually think he could do a job as a Wing-Back in 3-5-2.
  20. They have no business being paired with a blazer. The pocket detailing is bad enough. Those jeans are for teenagers, and even then they would look bad. Hope his fitness regimes are better than his clothing choices. I'm starting to worry about this appointment.
  21. Donning my Turkish hat (sorry mate, no offence) those jeans that Jan Kluitenberg is wearing are terrible.
  22. So we aren't asset stripping then? I expressed my concerns at what was happening, the manager had gone and it seemed our team was going to be picked apart. Even in my worst case doomsday scenario, I didn't see our talisman Rickie leaving. Lots of us feared that maybe the good times we have seen over the past few years were going to be replaced with mediocrity and obscurity. I don't know if Koeman will work out or not. Like any signing, or managerial appointment, it's a risk. He could of course fall flat on his face, he may well be a huge success, and leave for a bigger club, or who knows maybe even the Dutch national squad. What the appointment suggests to me, and I suspect others, is that there is still ambition within the club. KL doesn't simply want to pick it apart (as you were suggesting, and a couple of weeks ago gladly telling us you had suspected for months) take her money and run. It also suggests that they aren't happy to be just also rans. They could have gone for a Hughton, or a Bruce or countless other people of that ilk. Instead of that, they have plumped for a big name in football. Granted, that name was made more as a player, than it was as a manager. But it is still a big name. Despite this, he has had some success, heck he has won cups in three countries - I'd be happy for him to have a proper crack at the cups. As big a fan of MP I was, this is a criticism of him. RK may not keep all the players, we may still lose Shaw or Lallana or both. But, such an appointment does suggest that he will be allowed to strengthen, I can hardly see him coming here to oversee a sinking ship. There may well be change, we may not finish 8th again next season. But from this, I, and I think others on here, will certainly see signs for encouragement.
  23. Haha, I can understand why they wouldn't! I've had to cheat a bit, and look up recent set lists to try and narrow down my listening prep. They've got just too much stuff to cram! I'm not going to know it all, but still think I'll know enough to have a good time. I'm excited though, it's going to be very different, never really seen a band like Metallica before. Still don't really know what to expect from them at Glasto. Finally ordered a tent yesterday. Office chat with fellow attendees is starting to irk people now. I'm just too effing excited already! Between Glasto & 3 football matches on terrestrial TV a day I'm just loving life at the moment.
