  1. Yes. She's great. Love her new album.
  2. Something like that. I work for a games company, my job is to keep track of what is going on in the market. What's popular, what's making money, what's doing new/interesting things etc. So usually the best way is to play games. I'm mostly concerned with casual games, but it's still all design. I obviously do other things, lots of spreadsheets and presentations etc, but yeah, it usually either leads to playing games, or giving presentations on games I have played. Having CEO's worth millions come up to you and ask you to play game x, or y is still quite odd. Been doing it 2 years now.
  3. Being a coach doesn't relate to how good you were. Surely Pellegrini, Mourinho, Wenger demonstrate that.
  4. That battle mode on race tracks is one of the most baffling game design decisions I have seen in a long time. That's coming from some whose job revolves around playing games.
  5. Not that keen on Ranieri personally.

  7. Guilty pleasure alert: I'm really liking the sound of the couple of new La Roux tracks I've heard. I'd feel dirty/guilty over it. But I'm too busy dancing at my desk.
  8. I'm going to start a new persona. I think it could be fun. I'm going to throw everyone off by getting involved in some very bitter spats. It's going to be an Alpine-style-y uber depressive, the sky is always falling in type. PaulosLostRattail
  9. I haven't but would love one. We have one in the office, and it's great. There doesn't seem to be a great deal of games for it. But, those I have played I really like. It's less gimmicky than the original Wii (which still had some great games). And yes, Mario Kart 8 is bloomin' brilliant.
  10. Thought you'd be with me on this one
  11. Song for RK if he gets appointed? Maybe a tad obscure for a football song, but hey, let's blaze our own trail here yeh?
  12. Ok, thanks mate.
  13. Is this legit? I wouldn't mind getting in on that. If you are ever in Central London, Monmouth Coffee off Seven Dials is the absolute one.
  14. Would be interesting if he does go to Germany as has been suggested. I'd certainly have a lot of respect for him doing that.
  15. Yeah, this. Somehow I sounded corporate (which is a new one). This is what I was getting at, I just used a lot more words(/waffle) to go about it.
  16. I think he has covered there on occasion (might be wrong on that one). Don't think it's a long term solution, but could maybe do a job in an emergency
  17. That wasn't exactly a widely accepted way of going about things. Ultimately, he was proved right of course. Also, it was a slightly different situation. We hadn't been left managerless, as Adkins hadn't left for another club. By the sounds of it, that appointment had been a while coming. Poch spoke of having watched the team for a while before he took over. So, I doubt that came about in less than a week. I'm sure work and research went into that appointment as well, it was planned in advance, not a snap decision. As I said, if the appointment goes well, it will be seen as prudent to speak to prospective candidates and see who offers what. If not it will be they dilly-dallied and took too long. Again, if they just appointed someone, without going through and interview process, if things were to go poorly the "we rushed into it etc." lines would of course be trotted out. Right now, we can afford to take a little bit longer to make sure we get the right person for the job. For me, that is most important. Despite the press trying to whip everything into a frenzy at the moment (generally, not just in relation to Saints) as there really isn't all that much happening - they are just trying to fill the void left between the season end and the World Cup. As long as the board stick to the "no players leaving til a manager is in place" we have a bit of time. Again, thanks largely to the World Cup. If it was mid-season, you need to move much faster. Right now, I think we have a little more time. It's been just over a week. That's not that long to wait to appoint a new manager, I'd much rather wait and put in the due dilligence.
  18. 1) That isn't what he is saying. 2) He did play most of the time under Nige, he struggled with fitness due to Confeds Cup, Injury and family bereavement (was it his Dad? I forget now), not exactly a great start for a 22 year old in a new country. So he did miss some games. 3) Have no players ever proven themselves after not being fancied by one manager?
  19. It wasn't just results though. It was the performances. As I said, I went a few times this season, and saw them under both Rene & Felix. The things which you have highlighted from my above post are really the key aspects of a managers job (along with man management etc.). It wasn't a case of just getting a few unlucky or bad results. They looked woeful. There was no cohesion, no style to their play, no link up between the different part of the pitch. It really was a shambles. They had a poor team to start, too old, not enough imagination (well, that you could rely on Dejagah, Kasami & Taarabt in spells but can hardly be relied on, especially when you are in a scrap) and probably were always likely to struggle. From what I saw, I have no doubt that if both men were given the same squad, over the course of a season, Magath would do better. It's alright saying oh he's written off now. But, why has he never moved into management before? He's not that young, plenty get into management way younger. He's clearly a good coach, maybe he has never been given Manager's jobs because, he is better as a coach?
  20. Will have little to no impact on the pursuit of Lallana. Emre Can is a holding midfielder that can also play in Central Defence. Clearly it's not an either or from their point of view.
  21. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I'm sure if RK isn't a resounding success from his first game there would be some saying, "why did we just appoint the first person we spoke to, we didn't even interview anyone else etc."
  22. I think part of his problem was that he struggled to keep Chambers out of the team. I think he would have had a better chance if he was starting every week. Woy mentioned he was on the radar last September when Jay Rickie & Lallana got called up. I know Milner wasn't a starter at City, but he has plenty of international experience (and to be fair, he has also been a member of 2 Premier League winning squads). I really don't think Milner is as bad as the kicking he gets, you know you're always going to get a decent shift out of him and he really isn't a fb. If he was to leave City, and was willing to take a wage cut, I'd happily have him at Saints.
  23. Yet, when he was playing, semi-regularly, the season prior he contributed more than Puncheon. Yet you, and your pal Glasgow (who you seem to lack the awareness is taking the p!ss), spent all last season harping on about how foolish it was to let the player that actually did less go. Because he cost less. I know logic is far from your strong suit, but that is ridiculous, even by your standards. Let's just fill the team with players that do less, but cost less, and are of course English. Otherwise, Alpine & Glasgow will worry about all that money they give to the club not going to games, and b!tching like 5 year old girls on here, being wasted. Yes, Gaston has not delivered to what everyone expected of him. He has been a little lightweight and struggled for fitness. But equally, saying he has done nothing is just as stupid. He is a good player, and there are times when we could have used him last year. It makes me laugh how the people that slate him, also moan about possession football, and as someone said before Cork sideways passing. Yet, when someone tries the killer ball to open up a defence (aka the more risky ball, and the one more likely to lose possession) he is slated. What's that lads, you don't know what you want? Moaning for the sake of it? Completely contradicting yourself? Well, spank my arse and call me Shirley, isn't that a shocker?!
  24. I don't really buy that. That never really applied to Left-Backs anyway, and hasn't really been the case for a few years now - since it became trendy to play players on the opposite flanks. He's noticed because he is already a top-class Full-Back at 18. His peers voted him the best in the league, was that because he was left-footed? I really like Clyne, there's a strong debate to be had over who is better out of him and Chambers, but Shaw is 100% a level above the pair of them.
  25. He did play Bent a few times, and he was shocking. Seriously, really really bad. I've got a fair few Fulham mates (I'm local), and went along a few times at the tail end of the season when they had spare tickets. I saw Bent, I promise you, he didn't look like a Championship player. The kids had more chance of scoring. Mitroglou wasn't fit, I don't think he was fit when he signed (it was a strange signing). It wasn't really a case of ignoring him from what I understand. Rene, is the classic example of a top coach, poor manager. Fulham were an utter shambles under him. No shape, no organisation, no direction, no real idea of what they were trying to do. Obviously it's opinions, and more often than not I agree with you, but not on this one. I saw them under Felix and Rene, they were massively better under Felix.
