    i'm feeling the love.
  2. How many high horses are you trying to ride ?
  3. Do we exist in a vacuum ? Plenty of US policy, both domestic and foreign, has an impact on the UK.

True, but your implication was that the story was suppressed, which it wasn't. The media chose not to run with it.

If it was going to cause problems then it is no wonder he didn't announce it. He had enough shit flying around already.
  6. All of the countries listed above have electoral systems that are less than 120 years old, and for some much more recent, ours is fundamentally the same one we have had since the Georges, allowing for us now having a much broader plebiscite. If, like them, we were starting from scratch PR might look to be the ideal option, but in the UK FPTP is deeply ingrained, and has been for a very long time.

No reason why the Fail, Mirror, or Grauniad couldn't print it though. Or perhaps SKY or the BBC TV news. You can blame Rishi for a lot of things, but not EVERYTHING.

The proceedings of the ICC are published, so our objections would have been visible.

No he didn't, but the media did.
  10. The new UK Government is Blairite rather than socialist. As for France, politically there has always been a tendency for voters to favour the hard left and right.
  11. Across La Manche the exit polls in France are confused; 1 gives Marine le Pen's alliance 1st place but short of a majority, 2 others have them in second place, and France Télévision have them in third place. Looks like the 'lurch to the right' is more of a drunken stagger.
  12. During the election campaign 218 of 220 people detained ahead of planned deportation to Rwanda were released on bail. Yvette Cooper has released the last 2.
  13. Former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has been appointed as a junior Minister in the HoL, she of the dodgy expenses claim for porn movies watched by her husband.
  14. Not that he can remember though.
  15. Would we be happy with perpetual coalitions ? After all, you would still be voting for a single party rather than a selection.
  16. Yes, but LD's point about regional parties/issues is something that PR would dilute. The thing about the US Electoral College is to prevent the more densely populated States dominating the more 'empty' ones in the Midwest. I'm not sure these 2 situations actually bear comparison.
  17. On the single issue question, how many Tories in the previous Government got in purely to ''Get Brexit Done'' ?
  18. The LDs and Greens would show a better votes/seats ratio if they concentrated more on seats they might win rather than putting up candidates across the board. Alternatively, under PR, where would protest and local interest independents go ? How would the successful pro-Gaza MPs have faired ? How do you run by-elections ?
  19. Votes per seat will always be skewed in favour of the winner;
  20. I suspect we will get an interim leader who will operate whilst the party fights internally for it's new identity, then in 3 years time the person to take them into the next GE, and probably lose, will emerge.
  21. Tubthumping by Chumbawamba.
  22. The "threat" of deportation has not been tested as nobody has actually been deported.
