Smith and Brook combined - 342 for 1, facing 441 balls. The rest of the team 65 for 9, off 119 balls. England certainly got their "ducks in a row", 6 of them..

From the BBC report, ( my highlighting ); "However, the council said a single transgender-related book aimed at adults was relocated from a display at the entrance of a library to a section unlikely to be visited by children"

Justifiable? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cgeqr73p8wyo "Moments before the explosion, artists, students and athletes were among those gathered at a bustling seaside cafe in Gaza City. Huddled around tables, customers at al-Baqa Cafeteria were scrolling on their phones, sipping hot drinks, and catching up with friends. At one point, the familiar melody of "Happy Birthday" rang out as a young child celebrated with family. In a quiet corner of the cafe overlooking the sea, a Hamas operative, dressed in civilian clothing, arrived at his table, sources told the BBC. It was then, without warning, that a bomb was dropped by Israeli forces and tore through the building, they said." "At least nine of those killed were women, and several were children or teenagers. They included artists, students, social activists, a female boxer, a footballer and cafe staff"

On the heels of the "10 tracks" thread, and possibly one for the slightly more mature members, ( although vinyl is making a come back ), what was the first record, single or album, you bought? For me, I bought 2 singles for my birthday in 1972; School's Out by Alice Cooper, and Amazing Grace by Judy Collins.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
badgerx16 replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
My wife's op was scheduled and handled brilliantly, it's the stark contrast between that and the service from the medical centre that is frustrating. Anyway, she is now going round to Fleetwood drop-in centre this lunch time to get things checked out. -
The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
badgerx16 replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
My wife had an operation on her shoulder on Monday, carried out on behalf of the NHS at the local private hospital. She was told to contact our local medical centre to have the wounds checked after 4 days, therefore tomorrow, July 4th. She rang the medical centre on Tuesday to make an appointmnt for Friday the 4th, and was told the earliest available slot was on the 16th. -

USA again pausing ammunition supplies to Ukraine, in particular anti-aircraft missiles. Russia says this is good as it brings us nearer to the end of the SMO.

Another point is that in almost all the other conflicts the UK are tacitly, or even actively, opposed to the aggressor / oppressor regime; Russia, the junta in Mysnmar, the Assad regime in Syria, etc. In the Gaza conflict we are supportive of Israel's right to self defence, and in some eyes of the actions of Netanyahu and his cronies. In this case, we are failing to stand up for "the little guy".

A German army joke from the Normandy campaign; If you look up and see a brown plane, that is the RAF. If you look up and see a silver plane, that is the USAAF. If you look up and there is no plane, that is the Luftwaffe.
