  1. Optimism in abundance; Saints to survive, with West Ham, Leicester, and Everton going down. Tomorrow's game will knock that out of me.
  2. Considering they prayed to the God of Peace, both sides in the European, ( Western and Eastern fronts ), and North African theatres certainly stretched a point, although Stalin did bring the Orthodox Church back into mainstream Russian life to boost morale and desire to defend Mother Russia. As for being like the Crusades, no, because we weren't liberating the Holy Land from infidels, ( as Britain already occupied it as the Palestine Mandate ).

    Russia

From Twitter via Rediit; MilitaryLand.net @Militarylandnet Here's how much territory RU gained during March 2023: Kharkiv Oblast: 1.98% to 1.99% (~3km²) Luhansk Oblast: 97.88% to 97.9%, (~5km²) Donetsk Oblast: 56.58% to 56.93% (~85km²) Zaporozhzhia and Kherson Oblast remained without changes. #UkraineRussiaWar
  4. Basically a continuation of the preceding 1600 years of European history, ( and 400 years of American history ), with fewer burnings at the stake but bigger bombs. How many millions through history have been exterminated in God's name ? I haven't been following the whole belt buckle theme, but do know that the Wermacht in WW2 had "Gott mit uns" on their belt buckles Also, on their enlistment papers, recruits to the SS had to state they were either Protestant, Catholic, or 'Believer in God'. Make of that what you will, and mock it if you think necessary.
  5. So is the "common denominator" comic actors, members of comedy duos, TV panel show hosts, or celebrities who own Black Cabs ?

A majority vote of member states of the General Assembly, followed by ratification by their national Governments, can propose the removal of a permanent SC member - provided all 5 permanent members agree. How you get the structural reforms to make that, for instance, 4 of 5 permanent members to agree I don't know.
  7. I'll let the wider forum audience decide on the quality of my posts, but if looking for examples of "boring as fuck" I would suggest looking no further than your insipid, inane, drivel. I tend to view the use of the Ignore function as a sign that a poster has lost the argument, or is at least extremely uncertain as to the strength and veracity of their position.

It is nigh on impossible to remove a permanent member of the SC. The 5 major powers that won WW2 wrote the rules and made themselves king pins.
  9. You don't even understand what you post, and therefore you are ignorant.

    Russia

It is April Fools Day and Russia assumes the Presidency of the UN Security Council; a nation whose Head of State is the subject of an International Arrest Warrant, and which the last time it held the Presidency invaded Ukraine.
  12. True. The raw statistical data is accurate, but to claim that because the EU's share of the Global pie is slightly smaller in percentage terms this means that the EU is failing is a load of bollocks, that probably even the Daily Telegraph's journalists know although they will print it because it is red meat to their slavering readership.. What GM does is cut&paste from the DT without any understanding of what he is posting, and then berate and insult anybody pulling him up on it. And stating that people who voted Remain are traitors and should be strung up with piano wire hasn't helped foster a positive image of him.
  13. Oh God, is there more than 1 like you ?

The population of Crimea has been manipulated for political purposes for the last 100 years. It has always been a mixture of Ethnic Russians, Tatars, and Ukrainians, with a sprinkling of Greek and Bulgarian citizens. Stalin deported almost all of the Tatars to central Asia, and encouraged Russians to move there in their place. As a consequence, the number of Russian citizens increased from 560k to 860k between 1939 and 1959. Since 2014, Ukrainians and Tatars, who had started to return after the fall of the USSR, have fled the illegal Russian occupation and yet more Russians have been relocated into the region. At the point of Ukrainian independence Crimea was part of it's territory, actually thanks to Kruschev. Naturally there were some ethnic tensions, as with all the other former SSRs, as the 'local' peoples found their voice and identities after years of Russian suppression, but there certainly was not any form of genocidal oppression. The illegal military invasion and occupation of Crimea was never to rescue the ethnic Russians, as it was framed in Kremlin propaganda, it was naked imperialistic expansionist aggression. If the Russians living in a liberated Crimea don't want to live in a restored Ukrainian state, they will be free to cross the Kerch bridge before Ukraine destroys it once and for all. https://www.rferl.org/a/russia-accused-of-reshaping-annexed-crimea-demographics-ukraine/29262130.html

  16. 1) I heve never denied Brexit, I just feel it is a big mistake. 2) I am not angry, but I am sad that the UK has started a slow decline into International obscurity to satisfy the selfish aspirations of a few extremists.. 3) What is there to bargain with or about ? 4) Depression - logging on here and seeing you have polluted the forum yet again. 5) As with (1); Brexit is a reality, but hopefully once enough of the old stagers harking back to the ( lost ) glories of the Empire have kicked the bucket, the next generation will put things right.
  17. Brexit is a Pyrrhic victory. It wil never deliver what you think it will. As for whining like a "bitch", at least I'm not Farage's bitch, or Rees-Mogg's stooge.
  18. Correct. The punt being taken is based on predictions and presumptions on how things might look in 30 years time.

    Coronavirus

I love posts where people state that we ought to be "reading the real science", and ignoring the vast majority of informed sources around the World. I prefer the surreal science, the outcomes are far more entertaining.

    Coronavirus

It is a known, very rare, side effect of certain forms of vaccine. The COVID vaccines were not special in this regard.
  21. Tears of laughter at gullible twats like you thinking the Telegraph is the fount of all wisdom and that Brexit is leading us to the Promised Land.
  22. GM is doing the Time Warp again.
  23. Can't even quote accurately - "kool aid". Question for you, how do the CPTPP regulations on pesticides and environmental poisons compare to those of the EU ?
  24. Why don't you just post a link to the Daily Telegraph every morning ? It would save you time, and at least give the people thinking up and writing this stuff the acknowledgement for their efforts.
