  1. Somebody needs to straighten up the camera at the hotel end.
  2. Notts 86-6
  3. Just look down that impressive list of trade deals that the 'lovely' Liz Truss has rolled over and then work out what percentage of our annual international trade it represents. The answer is approximately the square root of fuck all, ( or more accurately, less than 10% of our total trade ). At least rolling over pre-existing deals is easier than actually going out and negotiating new ones on more advantageous terms. As for the other deals, the one with Japan is reported to be more slanted, ( apologies if anybody sees this as a racist comment ;-)), in their favour than our previous balance of trade when within the EU, and then WOW!, Leichtenstein....,I mean, what a coup.
  4. I don't find the thread tedious at all, I have enjoyed 'exchanging free and frank views' since the date of the opening post with many posters on here, most of whom I diametrically oppose on the subject of Brexit. I don't intend to dictate the scope and course of the discussion, but from reading your posts over the last week or so there isn't any 'discussion' or debate, just a lot of repetetive shouting at a wall on your part. It is wasted effort - none of the 'Leave' voters are going to admit they were wrong because from their perspective they aren't. Any way, I think that this whole interaction has been a waste of my time becaue you seem to have entrenched yourself so deep there is no chance of your ever getting back out your hole. So crack on, rant and rage, vent bile and spleen as loudly as you can. If you can't take some friendly advice I shan't offer it. HTH
  5. Many people view the fact that we left the EU at all as a 'benefit' and that therefore came to pass on day #1. Whatever you think we 'lost' was the result of a referendum that voted "Leave". JRM said it may take 50 years to know the real benefits. If you cannot accept the situation so be it, but FFS give it a rest. It is tedious.
  6. It is, we do. Why persist like Don Quixote tilting at Brexit windmills ? Do you want every member of this forum who voted leave to openly admit that they made a catastrophic mistake and publicly address to you a mas Mea Culpa ? Perhaps there will be no benefits, perhaps it will take 50 years to know, ( as JRM said on C4 news ). But perhaps, with it only being 18 months since it was enacted, and with a Global pandemic wreaking financial and social havoc, it is far too early for us to identify them. Come back in 5 yeras.

    Coronavirus

Some of them believe that you can 'catch' the vaccine by being in proximity to a vaccinated person, and so get inocculated by proxy. This why some of them are arranging 'vaccine free" hotels, holidays, and travel, and also 'vaccine free' blood banks.
  8. You don't debate, you berate and belittle.
  9. The pedant would argue that even if all that were true then we have to accept it because we, the people of the UK, voted for it.
  10. Didn't think Canadians could be as whingey and sulky as Americans but what was Fernandez complaining about when Raducanu cut her leg ? Did she think it was deliberate ? Anyway, 10 matches including qualifying and never dropped a set. What a performance.
  11. Just wish he didn't dick about with step-overs and Cruyff turns in our defensive third.
  12. Whatever the perceived flaws of the referendum campaign, no matter how betrayed you feel by the result, we have left the EU, and no matter how angry you allow yourself to get you cannot alter that fact ( And we won't be rejoining ). Any vote ends up with one side losing, that's the game, hence we have a Brexit that neither you nor I supported, and we have a Government that neither you nor I voted for. Life goes on, make the most of it, and view the future with a degree, however small, of optimism - the alternative will only drive you to misery and high blood pressure.

    Coronavirus

Prosecutors in France are investigating and presenting charges against a former Health Minister for her actions in the early stages of the pandemic.
  14. That promise was never going to happen, the maths didn't add up: The big porky pie on the side of the bus said we would save £350m a week, ( a blatant fib to start with), and should give it to the NHS instead, ( at least that was the implication they wanted us to make ). This was, in any case, a gross figure and ignored any funds coming the other way, such as the regional subsidy to Cornwall. If all the reciprocal monies were to be directly matched after Brexit, there would have been far less of a headline figure for their headline grabbing bullshit pledge; "Once we have accounted for and matched regional funds and industry sector subsidies, whatever is left can go to the NHS" doesn't have such an impact.
  15. You have a brother ?
  16. Should never have been a straight majority decision. If the same rules were applied to the Brexit vote as to the Welsh and Scottish devolution referenda then it would never have passed: both of those required that 40% of the electorate had to vote in favour - in the case of the Scottish devolution vote there was 51% majority of votes cast that were in favour, but there was a turnout of only slightly over 60%, which meant that the 40% threshold was not met. If the same rule had been applied to the Brexit vote, as the SNP wanted, the vote would have failed as it only gained the votes of 37% of the electorate.
  17. Perhaps, but it would be more open than we previously had.
  18. No, because rejoining would mean accepting all the requirements of membership that we had previously got exemptions for, such as fully free movement and joining the Eurozone.
  19. He isn't advocating either, just suggesting a re-alignment of the boundaries between French and EU legislation on non-EU immigration. It is just pandering to the xenophobic element of the right wing of French politics.
  20. Freedom is an illusion, a myth that is promoted by those who would enslave you by other, more subtle, means.
  21. Yes I did 😉
  22. He was specifically speaking about immigration quotas, but also seems to have fallen into the classic 'leaver' trap of linking the ECHR with the EU.
  23. I posted this on the previous page. Do keep up.
  24. "Please don't quote xxxxx....." determines that xxxxx cannot be responded to directly. You are attempting to limit my ability to interact with another poster.
