Perhaps the answer is that whilst He could intervene, his attitude is "I gave you the garden of Eden and you fucked up; I cleansed the World in a great flood to give you a fresh chance, and you fucked up; I gave you my only son to save you from your sins, and you continue to fuck up. Much of the surface fleet, plus ( obvs ) all of the subs, would be useless in such operations. What exactly are the RN going to do ? Blockade the French coast ? Ram and sink RIBs overloaded with women and children ? Get them off their boats and dump them back on the French beaches ?

The international law remains the same, refugees are supposed to stop at the first "safe" country they reach. Therefore Greece, Italy, France, etc. It is possible that the UK could shirk some of it's previous collective humanitarian responsibilty because it isn't bound to EU joint commitents to provide suport to the southern border states.
