  1. No, there is not going to be an EU army in the forseeable future, the EU constitution won't permit it, but no doubt it is on the wish list of some people who want to progress further, in the mid to long term, towards a federal Europe. ( Which may not be such a bad idea if implemented properly ). I suspect most of the selective quotes being bandied about are being deliberately taken out of context, but I haven't the time or inclination to go through each to debunk it in turn.
  2. Let's assume the rhetoric is true. With the USA threatening to severely reduce it's commitment to NATO, why shouldn't 'closer integration' of defence capabilities across Europe be beneficial ? Where does the UK's isolationist/indepedent stance then leave it ? Acting under the delusion that we are still a World Power with the ability to independently 'project force', or clinging to the coat tails of a self interested USA ?

The combination of Turing's mathematical genius with the oft-overlooked electromechanical work of Tommy Flowers that produced Colossus.

    Dunkirk

( I think you mean British rather than English. ) Also, ( switch to MLG mode ); in the beginning it was the UK, ( plus the empire ), France, ( plus her empire ), and the Polish, ( plus the odd Czech ), versus the Germans. As the Germans advanced in 1940, Norway, Holland, and Belgium were added to the Allied side, although in small numbers. The Dunkirk evacuation pulled out not only Brietish troops, ( minus almost all of their equipment ), but also many thousands of French troops who carried on fighting alongside us after their home territories were overrun. How typically British to evangelise a disatrous strategic defeat as something to be celebrated. After all, didn't Winston Churchill call the Battle of Britain our 'Finest Hour' ?
  7. You're like a watered down Guided Missile.

  9. There is no EU army, nor is one in the pipeline. If Trump gets re-elected and reduces the US commitment to NATO there may be a need for closer defence ties across Europe, independant of the States, but that makes common sense and would extend beyond the borders of the EU. ( "Chinese virus" - boring, predictable, and slightly pathetic ) Most of the rest is rehashing the scare mongering produced by the leave side during the Brexit referendum campaign.
  10. But don't we elect Governments to make decisions on our behalf ? If not, we'd be having referenda every weekend.
  11. You said "the only poll that counts is an election", and it was this comment to which I replied.
  12. That would be the one where less than 45% of the votes gives an unassailable overall governng majority.
  13. So potentially nearly a quarter of a million people have been asked that question, and consistently the trend is for an increasing percentage who feel it is a bad idea. Surely that would be a representative sample ?
  14. I have just seen the "handball" for Newcastle. What a complete joke. ( But it was against Moanrinho and Spurs, so I have zero sympathy in this instance ). I wonder what will happen the first time such a decision goes against Liverpool.

  16. Well, the Swiss have voted strongly to retain free movement with the EU.

  18. Is it one of those elections where the result is announced before polling closes ?
  19. "I've been complaining very strongly about the ballots," Mr Trump said. "And the ballots are a disaster." "Get rid of the ballots, and you'll have a very - you'll have a very peaceful - there won't be a transfer, frankly, there'll be a continuation." Says the leader of what claims to be the World's leading democracy.

  24. Probably, but Spurs were poor yet still managed 2 "goals", and at half time Jose corrected their midfield and set them up to exploit our lack of awareness snd mobility at CB. Other teams can now look at that second half and start matches playing in that way if we persist with the high line.
  25. Son scored 4 goals in 20 minutes, with almost identical play each time. Why couldn't the coaches or players work out what was happening ?
