  1. Glad for you, the completely predictable result of a vote that should never have taken place. And it lumps you in with Rupert Lowe, yay !
  2. On one side you had the Brexit party, a single issue protest vote hoover. On the other you had a group of parties, including the Greens and the LDs whose core vote stayed loyal, and who split those voters opting for a Remain choice. They thereby spread the anti-Brexit sentiment between them. Labour, and especially the Tories, were always going to have a 'mare. If it had been reduced to 2 options, Brexit Party or Remain Party, it might have produced a more interesting outcome. Still waiting for Scotland and NI.
  3. But you don't explain why you feel these things are 'stupid'. If there is a possibility to persuade people that veganism is a sound and appropriate lifestyle change, then there must be persuasive and informed information and evidence to support it. Biologically humans are omnivores, this is an indisputable fact based on our physiology.
  4. I suppose it depends on whether she actually read the NAO report in question. The first line of the report body says "We think that there is no practical alternative to continuing with Universal Credit.", which McVey reported to Parliament as saying that the roll-out should "continue at a faster rate and to be speeded up.". The NAO report https://www.nao.org.uk/report/rolling-out-universal-credit/ Mcvey's 'correction' in her statement to the House https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/universal-credit-and-national-audit-office-report
  5. Somebody with form for blatantly lying to Parliament. Mind you
  6. Death by blue rinse and Zimmer frame.
  7. Perhaps because the post of Leader of the Conservative Party is still, in his eyes, the poisoned chalice it was at the last leadership vote. Trying to unite the 2 wings has never been easy, but at the moment it may, to him, appear to be an impossible ask, given the total mess that currently exists within Westminster, courtesy of the Maybot's disastrous tenure.
  8. If meat wasn't supposed to be a part of the human diet, why do we have canine teeth and the metabolic chemical processes to digest it ? One question I have for vegans is; if the entire country was to switch to such a diet, would that mean the immediate culling of all cows, pigs, hens, etc, as they would no longer have an economic purpose. ( So much for animal rights ).
  9. Remember, 80% of things that Rory Stewart says are made up on the spur of the moment. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-politics-46225696/rory-stewart-apologises-after-making-up-brexit-stat
  10. Somerset finding it far too easy in the early overs.
  11. 244 at least gives us something to defend, thanks to Fuller. Need the bowlers to put them under pressure early.
  12. My grandson Cycling Walking my dogs on the beach Cycling Picking fruit from my garden ( especially the grapes, with which we make wine, and the apples, a lot of which are used for cider ) Cycling One particular day at work when a Mercedes SLK was pulled over outside our office and impounded for being untaxed and uninsured.
  13. I loved the slip on R5 by the Tory backbencher, when asked about the possible new leaders he blurted "Oh God, not Gove", before continuing with " Ahh, that didn't sound good, did it ?"
  14. To quote Malcolm Tucker "Come on, this is ****ing history in the making, right, this is the ending of a chapter of a very thin book that nobody enjoyed reading."
  15. So, was Farage being anti-democratic in saying exactly the same thing ? PS: why are you afraid of a rerun ?
  16. Wes, remember this ? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-36306681 There could be unstoppable demand for a re-run of the EU referendum if Remain wins by a narrow margin on 23 June, UKIP leader Nigel Farage has said. "In a 52-48 referendum this would be unfinished business by a long way. If the Remain campaign win two-thirds to one-third that ends it."
  17. Worth a "cheeky insurance bet" ?
  18. What happened in your formative years to produce such a bitter personality ?
  19. Oh dear Wes, I have consistently said that whilst I think Brexit would be bad for the country, that the result of the referendum, once it had been legitimised, should have stood, and that having voted to leave we should simply leave. That is democracy. The whole balls-up subsequently should never have happened, especially the pointless 2017 General Election. My position on a potential second public vote is perhaps hope over expectation, but if a 'second chance' to produce my preferred outcome were offered, I would welcome it. I again ask the question, why are you so afraid of a second vote ?
  20. Remain supporters are not anti-democratic. They just accept that given a change in pertinent knowledge, people are able, and should be given the opportunity, to change their minds. Why are entrenched Brexiteers so afraid of a rerun ?
  21. I'm sad for you, based on your posting history on this thread, and that Brexit is likely to never live up to your expectations.
  22. Expecting far more than will ever be delivered.
  23. She has stuck a spoon into the dog's breakfast, given it a stir, and served it up as something new. It will be rejected, again, and then it will be "no deal", which Parliament has already said is unacceptable, or revoke A50. The diversion of the EU elections will throw some bile, hate, and spite into the debate, May will be replaced, but I don't think that we will leave this side of a hastily arranged GE.
  24. This. Inconsiderate and selfish dickwads like these end up colouring opinions held about cyclists in general, and people end up lumping all cyclists into a collective to be generically disliked.
