Hodgson is clueless, it was clear from the World Cup. He has no tactical ideas, he puts players in according to which club they play for and how much the media bigs them up. He has no idea how to build a team from the back and play a match on the front or back foot. His idea of formation selection is to pick a system and force it to work no matter the opposition, the flow of the match or who is suited to the system. To top it off he is embarrassingly arrogant, has little sense of how he comes across and fails to inspire any confidence in his media interviews. All he has done since being appointed is blame other circumstances rather than work out how to use what he has got. 'We don't have any strikers in England, not enough good attacking players' was what he blamed for World Cup two years ago... 'We don' t have the defensive players', is this tournaments excuse... 2 years difference and us now having one of the best attacks on paper in Europe suggests to me the talent is there but Roy has been paid a lot of money to travel around picking his England team and has completely failed to find anyone until their put right in front of his nose.

I do in the summer I won't lie, and Koeman didn't actually score us a single goal hinself in the last two seasons. We don't have to let players leave. We have had two great managers in last 4 years. We will get a new great manager. That excites me more than throwing the kitchen sink at someone who wouldn't want to commit for more than 1 extra year. Our bad patch mid season points to there being something wrong behind the scenes at the club and some sort of conflict, players have admitted they struggle with Ron's style (although they should get on with it and stop whinging). I'd rather not take the risk and get a new face in but since when have we ever had that luxury. They keep screwing us and we keep getting better. We also have the added benefit of our managers tactics and style being an unknown quantity again. It has worked well for us year on year.

Perversely...I'm quite excited by the thought of us having a new manager hunt. It goes against the sane and rational decision to keep Koeman that I know I should be thinking. But then I'm the sort of person who will move my house furniture around every 6 months just to have a room feel and look different. A new manager means a new managers favourite player buddies, and the rise and fall of other dressing room characters. Players have to push themselves to earn their place with the new boss. There's also the chance of more exciting attacking football. I appreciate Ron's defensive tactical nous (especially looking at Woy's complete lack of it) but I preferred Pochettinos more attacking edged play from a spectator point of view.

thanks for summary Shroppie

Wow this thread escalated quickly, nothings happening to miserable doom overnight. I guess that's what happens when you run out of biscuit puns. From what I can tell though nothing has really changed since 5pm yesterday other than more spurious tweets and debatable ITK's?

Is Marcelo Bielsa available. The man who Poch idealises.

Aww no harm speculating. I'd hope Les is so why shouldn't we. I know who I hope we stay away from and that's Van Gaal.
-
Talksport so patronising its unbelievable. Bless em Southampton they want to do well, and everyone wants to like them, but Everton are a club with real fans who care and ambition. They actually need a manager in there now.
-
Also its main discussion on Drive where Darren Gough will tell us why Everton are a better club for an hour...sigh. We'll end up with some Drifter.
-
Talksport radio reporting it now. Starting to think Saints have been out Foxed by Everton
-
No need to be a Nutbar. Nothing has happened yet.
-
I expect they are Yoyoing between the potential outcomes as much as we are.
-
If Ron really wants to Breakaway from the club, then we'll just have to get on with it. I'm sure we have a Trio of top managers to interview.
-
I trust our KitKat will make Les do the right thing.

Pancake was being a bit of a penguin and didn't spot St Charlies Nice reference.

Sorry but thats just the way the cookie crumbles.

It's too much for St. Charlie to Digest.

A lot of people agree, see Ron thread, but I admit that I hadn't considered the compensation we would have to pay to be honest. A mutual agreement would have to be made to terminate the contract early which is what we could be seeing, but the club should come out early and say that otherwise it makes them look like they have been done over by Everton's greater skill.

All I'll say is thank **** Brendan Rogers has a job...

I know right. Probably these same grown men are the same kind who show emotion, respect women, help out with housework, look after the kids, do the cooking and all sorts of other disgusting things like that. What a bunch of pussies.

Worth noting Koemans agent 'Rob Jansen' also represents loads of other players and possibly managers including Daly Blind, Dennis Bergkamp, Wim Jonk, Edwin van der Sar, Philip Cocu, Patrick Kluivert, Dirk Kuyt, Ibrahim Affellay, Stijn Schaars, Maarten Stekelenburg amongst others. (At least according to the validity of the website I found) All i'm saying is just because the agent is going there is no panic. If Koeman himself was on his way there then I would be getting more worried.s

Dubious ITK quote about Rons agent on way to Everton ground today. Few twitter news reports that contract talks stalled and Ron asked to leave. Odds reflecting this news and punters diving in to back Koeman as next Everton manager.
-
That's the word i was looking for. Thanks.

If Ron asks to leave and goes to Everton, it shows him to be a liar and have no integrity. It means mine and many peoples impression of him has been completely wrong and in that case, good riddance, there are other managers out there who would love a chance with our team and our current position. We have proven to be a great stepping stone for managers and players alike. -------- http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11700/10280591/southampton-boss-ronald-koeman-says-hes-staying-at-southampton He said: "I am manager of Southampton, everyone knows I have one more year of my contract. I got asked the same question last week. We will sit together and analyse this season and talk about the future. That's what the news is." Asked if he would be staying, Koeman stated: "Yes."

How many times has the poor bloke got to tell you all; 'He has a year left at Southampton and that is the end of it.' If he leaves in the next 12 months it's because he's been fired. That's it and its then up to him who he wishes to join.
