  1. Me too how weird, did she also ask you for **** pics?
  2. it should be based on league cup game tickets bought regardless of whether you a season ticket holder or not. Then season tickets, then members, then general sale. Season ticket holders (of which I am) on this occasion shouldn't get priority over those who paid money to follow the cup run.
  3. if they score in first 15 we will be too rocked to pull it off with these 2 cbs I fear.
  4. haha if it was a broken foot would be so typical Saints. Keep taking ridiculous gambles and eventually you are going to get caught out. Makes me laugh when on one hand the club presents itself as sensible and well prepared to take the careful approach but then takes gambles such as the Fonte and Austin ones without having adequate safety nets in place.
  5. Cheers for link. Although West Hams transfer policy has been darts in the dark for years though, their scouting and recruitment section isn't on a par with our own in terms of track record.
  6. I believe Redmond in last years team or our Mopo team would have been fantastic. I don't think we are getting the best or anywhere near his potential out of him yet.
  7. Yeah Journeyman is wrong word to use. Been guilty of it myself on occasion where I have actually meant; hard working jack of all trade players, solid all round premiership footballers but with nothing in their locker to raise them above their peers and regularly effect outcome of games with singular moments of brilliance.
  8. It's not that bad... there's worse out there. The **** that they play at Goodison for example.
  9. Thanks for link, now just wish you were joking. Discounting any potential injury, and with many other examples to choose from, this has surely got to be the smoking gun to prove players are performing significantly worse under the current manager/system/setup.
  10. Lol you've got to be joking right?
  11. I think if Wanyama was in our squad in its current state he wouldn't get in the spurs team today either. Romeu has looked good in a **** season, he could either be even better with a better team or he could just be a polished turd in a toilet bowl. I will say that he looked very good against Liverpool and some of the harder working teams we've played. It's going to be hard for anyone to definitively say either way until something changes.
  12. 1) People are paying money to the club to watch games (fair bit more than a penny). 2) No one is asking her to spend all the money 'she' has. They are asking the executives to spend the resources of Southampton FC (the business entity) in a constructive way that honors its nature as a sports team in a competitive competition. 3) 4th should not be the aim. To be the best Saints can possibly be should be the aim. To win every competition they enter should be the aim. 4) No one wants the club to go bust. That's just stupid. What people want is to see the club spend the money earned from transfers and from the humongous new TV revenue deals on continuing to build positively. When they see that Bournemouth and West Brom have managed to be ambitious and rise above us without breaking the bank, when we were on the verge of cementing Top 8 status, it makes the executives intentions for the club seem suspicious, especially when a lot of cynical PR statements, player unrest and staff turnover issues are becoming ever more prevalent. 5)When the average layman knows that the club would be ****ed without a striker before the season began, and the executives on fine salaries have still not addressed the issue 6 months down the line, you're going to find a lot of people questioning their confidence in steering a club that individual supporters have invested thousands of pounds of their own money in over the last 10 years. As for forum, some people don't understand the differences between argument, discussion, and insults. It is true of people in the real world too of course. They are the people who if you discuss something just keep raising their voice and you wonder why the **** they are getting so worked up about over such a simple and non important topic, that they can often be completely uninformed about. These people are not arguing their point they are not listening to the words at all on either side they are trying to simply 'win' to protect their own fragile confidence. It always seems to be people with low self esteem who are the most aggressive and quick to argue loudly in my experience so I would guess same applies on here.
  13. I've had a season ticket now since League one under Pardew (could only start affording one then). I nearly didn't bother this season (writing has been on the wall) and pretty sure I won't next season if nothing changes much from where we are now. Can't see the point in having spent all this money and not look forward to many games (and its not about results, its about the overall spectacle and match day experience). It feels as if the joy, excitement and passion is being sucked out of the club year on year. Whilst the overall game is getting more seedy, more corrupt and more ludicrous in its coverage. The league has been much more successful when more teams are in the race. The desire to appease the top 6 and make it a shut shop needs to come to an end. True financial fair play needs to be introduced.. Referees need to be interviewed and held accountable. The vast money involved in the game means referees need to be in the spotlight when they blow it. If they need to be paid more to do this, then the clubs together need to cough it up because it is intrinsically damaging the sport now. From saints point of view this should have been a great year but even in the build up to the Euro games I heard many fans saying they don't know why but they just didn't feel excited. The club is becoming more 'stable' sure but not in the least bit entertaining or inspiring. It isn't just Puels fault, there is a real sense that across the entire operation we are becoming very passionless and process based. Yet what makes Football so great is the passion, the rivalry and the competition. Bizarrely the thought of a relegation battle or a drop to the championship excites me much more right now than watching money be vacuumed out Saints whilst the team play a stable, uninspiring game with a group of mostly journeyman footballers and the occasional 'star' who rises above average and gets a chance to immediately move to a competitive team. (lower the overall quality and its easier for one or two to stand out? Could be a good sales tactic.)
  14. lol. v.good
  15. Yeah I think you are right and I think if people are honest with themselves they will know it to be true as well. As it stands this is the most logical and realistic explanation for where the club finds itself. My belief is that this is a very dangerous business move; in an entertainment industry standing still (being boring and safe) is the worst place its counterproductive to the entire point of competitive sport... I.e. To compete to win and be the best. Our entire structure is geared towards 'competing at an adequate level to ensure a steady stream of reliable income whilst overseeing the development of players for clubs who do aim to win and be the best.' This season Saints are actually taking control of each game we play and then turning them into dull, lifeless and predictable affairs. If we genuinely don't want or believe that we can move beyond our current achievements we may as well just turn ourselves into a development outfit... maybe we already have.
  16. Ambition: a strong desire to do or achieve something. People say we lack ambition because no one really has a clue what Saints FC owner and exec's really want. The problem is they seem quite happy with us dawdling along as we are, ergo: They have no strong desire to do or achieve anything in particular, they simply want to maintain the current status quo.
  17. (Maybe more relevant thread for this post) Funny how when we are doing badly the players get evaluated as not good enough for the league but yet last season many of the same players were apparently evaluated as good enough for the prem. It isn't the players, it is the tactics behind them (both on the pitch and in the boardroom) that has been wrong this season. The real trauma of the club failing to capitalise on the success of the last few years and in failing to appoint an exciting football approach is the loss of support from youth. In the millennial age of immediate reward and instant gratification there is no time for Sports entertainment businesses to rest on their laurels. If Saints execs do not regularly provide a product that excites and delivers enjoyable competitive football then they will quickly lose generations of our youngest supporters who are weened to buy a product and then expect immediate entertainment, success, glory, and big image branding all over their favorite social sites. Yes it sucks but this is the reality of modern and evolving culture. The club either move with it or fall behind. Edit: Also should note that the players we hope to attract/keep at any given point are also part of the same millennial mindset; instant success and reward for as little effort as possible because they are special... problem with these guys in football is that their special snowflake complex is reinforced.

Short sighted idiots in football in every direction you look. It isn't the players, it is the tactics behind them (both on the pitch and in the boardroom) that has been wrong this season. 19. Lost the game in exactly the same way as usual. One quality strike game over. 90 minutes of huffing and puffing, lack of attacking ability, silly mistakes across the park, lack of composure from most of our attacking players. We can't seem to get up for any games other than the top 6. Ah well, eventually it will be fixed and improve we just have to accept it and ride this season out by winning some of our home games.
  20. Definitely seen this match before
  21. Tadic selfish at all the wrong times again
  22. with some of the box play in this game I think Rodriguez could cause some damage.
  23. Interesting article and makes some sense, thanks for the link.
