It's amazing how true this is. The Premier League rarely imports star managers or players, it makes them. That said, AVB wasn't a 'top top manager' when he went to Chelsea, everyone just thought he had the potential to become one. Hasn't happened yet, may still do.

He'd absolutely smash it at West Ham. I hope it doesn't happen and doubt it will but if he thinks it'll get him the games he needs to get into the World Cup squad then I wouldn't deny him that chance. I'm not sure the club would either, in all honesty, but we'd have to get a good forward in and that might be difficult/costly.

Their away form is better than at home - WWLDW and LDLWL respectively and that away draw was at Goodison.

Newcastle handled them both well with backs to goal. I'm surprised we started Osvaldo and Lambert together for that reason but things are different at home and against different teams. Wouldn't call for a big change like that just yet!

I'll always be happy with a point at St James's. Decent performance second half against a really dangerous team. Is Morgan suspended after that yellow or not?

We were very good defensively at the end of last season with Hooiveld in the side. Boruc's presence makes a big difference.

We're really lacking a midfield base. Morgan on as soon as his fitness allows and Lallana for Lambert.

I think we'd have to shoehorn Lambert into midfield. He could be useful there but would he be better than Lallana, Rodriguez, JWP et al?

I've been thinking about this - it's about the price we put on our philosophy. £30m is ludicrous money and if it were any player we'd be crazy to turn it down, but a homegrown player might be priceless to the way we want to run our club.

I know a few Newcastle fans who would rather have Yanga-Mbiwa and Williamson at centre half - I believe that was the pairing at WHL and against Chelsea when they kept a clean sheet. Haven't watched them enough to know myself!

Well, he is right. Almost all of our best academy products have gone onto success at bigger clubs, and it's a very new idea that they can stay and succeed here. It's a work in progress. United should move to buy Lallana and Shaw. They should not, however, succeed.

They've got one of the form keepers in the league though, and they've kept clean sheets at White Hart Lane and Old Trafford recently. Their defensive record is starting to improve
