    Lukaku

You say that, but change has got him two league titles, four FA cups and a Champions League trophy. You're right that Mourinho will be more stable though...so long as he wins. If Chelsea do decide to sell Lukaku we'd probably have to pay more than £20m - they paid £10m for him from Belgium, rising with £17m with add-ons. We can only speculate as to what those add-ons are though I guess, he hasn't made loads of Chelsea appearances or earned any medals so perhaps they haven't paid out much yet.
  2. I'd like to get involved this season. Anyone know roughly how many points the winner finished with last time?

He might be able to perform to a higher level if he moves but you can forget about him reclaiming his Liverpool form, simply because his pace is gone. He's turning 30 this season and pace was his whole game at Liverpool. I think it would take someone truly exceptional for Cortese to spend £25m+ on a 29 year-old, and Torres is not that man.

Torres is a strange one - he's absolutely brilliant for Spain and very good for Chelsea but not good enough to lead a title challenge. He's got some serious confidence issues at that club but given the right move he might flourish again. I wouldn't go for him because 1. He would cost more than the players we're looking at now and 2. he is a gamble, and not the kind you take on young players. If he were to flop with us then his resale value would plummet. To be honest I doubt we'd want him or he'd want us anyway, a return to Spain seems the obvious choice. Ha, fantastic

If you forget about emotional attachment to academy players and our desire to bring them through to the first team, that's a no-brainer. A young full back who looks like he might reach the top is great, but young strikers with that much potential are worth their weight in gold.
  6. Just watching the U21s highlights and I realised that I'd never seen the socks before. Red and white stripes, which is, erm, something, but they look bloody horrible
  7. A+ photo
  8. They were saying that Wanyama was too for for Celtic and us, to be fair. Most were expecting him to go to a top club.
  9. He values the fans and loves the club, it doesn't make a difference to Saints. He probably wants to go back and play at Celtic Park as the opposition. If not, who cares? If he ever goes back to Celtic it'll be towards the end of his career or because he's failed somewhere along the line.
  10. Can you sing it to Seven Nation Army? I'd like to sing something to Seven Nation Army.
  11. I never can tell!
  12. I can't believe that someone's actually said this. He was left out in the cold when Benitez came in but forced his way back into the side and scored 15 goals in 29 games. 15 goals, in 29 games. From midfield. He was a substitute in 10 of them! I'd consider this season among his best if you consider his age and the scale of his achievement.
  13. That's my boy.
  14. Quite possibly, but we wouldn't stuff them. Not a hope at Celtic Park!
  15. There's a fair point to be made about Chelsea though - a decade at the top and anybody would laugh if you said they weren't one of the biggest clubs in England. They weren't small before, but it's success alone that's earned them that status. We'd be the same if we were to ever do what they have.
  16. His name is Victor He came from Kenya He's the big one over there He's built like a ****ing bear He is Victor (VIC!) Victor Wanyama The midfield machine straight from Kenya He is Victor (VIC!) Victor Wanyama He's taking the Saints to the top [video=youtube;NKR2n-G-wdM]
  17. Eh? He's at his peak. Pochettino doesn't seem to fancy him as much as Adkins but it's not an age thing.
  18. And give us an even tougher selection conundrum in midfield as there'd be one less place to fill.
  19. You could accuse us of blocking their access to the team, however, but we won't have a clue until the season starts. We'll have to see! I really hope we still have a chance of landing Damiao.
  20. ...does Dejan Lovren shave his armpits? Picture 46
  21. We'd lose the tag very quickly if we finished high up the table for a few years in a row.
  22. I don't know how the BBC operates but it may be that the sports desk don't have their own picture editors, so whoever chose and framed that picture might be working on news most of the time and not have a clue about football. The reporter who wrote the story won't have chosen the picture, anyway.
  23. The fact we knew it was coming doesn't lessen its significance, I don't think.
  24. Yes! Fantastic news and a bigger statement of intent than any signing we could make to bring a player to the club. Here's to the next five years!
  25. It's also just been pointed out to him that we won't have paid the £3.5m in full yet
