You're right that Davis doesn't score or create many goals. I'd be impressed if you can name someone outside the Champions League who does that and all the other work you describe. Of course it would be great to have it all, but we are quite simply a weaker team when Davis doesn't play, and that's been true under four managers. (PS - the big clubs would be interested if he were 21, not 31) Oh, last point. I don't want my central midfielders trying to 'beat a man', as it will result in losing possession and opening yourself to counter attacks. Again, the few players who are gifted enough to do it regularly are at the very best clubs.

He'd be a brilliant signing, but between his age and wages I doubt we'd go for him.
-
What are the chances of having Cedric back for this? If he's on his game and we have our first choice back four we might have a chance. A weak link and they'll be all over us. Really interested to see how Puel tries to stop them. Let's have Long playing on the break as well.
-
No problem with his tactics or selection, but Puel is responsible for motivating the players, which seems to have been a problem yesterday.
-
Hey, why not 20? 30?
-
Would give Puel the benefit of the doubt there, he probably meant a newly formed side, still adapting to his coaching and Europa schedule etc.

If they build the conference centre at Leisure World they fancy using it like the BIC.
-
Just as well that's not what we did!
-
We should really be like Real Madrid.
-
Knackered is pushing it but the Europa League schedule is tough and does get the better of practically every team that can't afford a huge squad of megastars. We've done well to handle it so far but can forgive being off the pace now and again.

I know! It's criminal. Anyone know if the Premier League lets you field robots?

Spot on, though this is the first game where the hangover has really shown. I've been very impressed by our recovery from midweek games, with that 1-1 against City, 3-0 over West Ham, 1-0 over Swansea. A point at Leicester was good too, and we played with plenty of energy. We had to dig deep against Inter, and I'd imagine it was tiring mentally and emotionally as well as physically. However, I do worry today was complacency as much as or more than tiredness, basking in the Inter victory and strolling into a game against poor opposition, strolling into a 1-0 lead...

Don't recall, but nothing would have saved us away at Bournemouth last season. That really was a terrible performance

Important to identify goals where he might have done better. Doesn't matter if it's the opposition's first or 50th shot if there's nothing he could do to stop it. He has made a couple of big saves this year, but could have done better for one or two. Only thing that really bothers me is his reluctance to come off his line. That'll cost us at some point.

There would be a very tight venn diagram between people who spend games shouting 'GET THE BALL!' and 'PUT IT IN THERE!' and people who don't rate Steven Davis
-
Yep, and that's fine by me. Cutting edge is the issue.
-
That about sums it up.
-
Oh, for the days when people thought Pelle and Mane were cheap replacements.
-
Where has this phrase come from and what does it mean?
-
Really frustrating that we only turned it on offensively when they went ahead. Did well to create a few chances against a resilient defence but should have done better to create them earlier. Ignore the trolls.
-
It's an Inter hangover. Can't muster up the same physical intensity, which is understandable to a degree, but we seem a little weary mentally as well. Still got enough to get a goal back.
-
Seriously? I'd be delighted if Ward-Prowse or Hojbjerg played like Davis did.
-
Clasie fancies a goal here doesn't he!
-
Tadic lucky to escape with a yellow there

Tadic off the pens! With you on this.
