  4. Scholes couldn't tackle to save his life! I think if we have to compare yesterday's performance to one of the England players of that generation I'd say Owen Hargreaves.

    Mane

I think we've got this year's boo boy, ladies and gents
  6. Terrific tactics and selection from Koeman to pin Baines and Coleman back using wing backs. Reed, Yoshida and Alderweireld particularly strong in a new system. Everton were trousers but we grew into that game very nicely. Searching for a vine of that Targett pass.
  7. They've been absolutely terrific. I bet some of their fans are frustrated we've been lauded as the 'surprise package' with fewer mentions for their team. I can't blame them.
  8. What a shame. It's strange to think the path his career might have taken had Cortese sacked him in the summer after he'd guided us to safety. He might still have been managing in the Premier League somewhere.
  9. Can you explain how his presence stops other players from making errors? Is it simply that he protects them from situations which they are unable to get through without making mistakes?

    JWP

Too right - he will be very useful for us over the next few weeks.
  11. I can't figure out how he's become so consistently poor. He's apparently upset with the lack of midfled protection. He's certainly far more exposed there than he was with Wanyama and Schneiderlin in front, but Liverpool have lacked organisation and basic rigour under Rodgers despite quality players in the back four. Skrtel didn't become a poor player overnight either. It's like Lovren's having the one poor game he played for us (Spurs away) over and over again.
  12. Because of one weekend in December where they climbed to two points below us?
  13. All of them. Don't get carried away
  14. If we win another 9 or 10 games, assuming we don't lose all the rest, we'll probably be a 5-6 points away from the top six. And that's if we give up on Europe and focus on the League Cup! Think of the possibilities if we don't give up on European qualification in early December...
  15. Far too expensive, I'm sure, but a rock solid player.
  16. Pelle was so underutilised today. Burnley defended well but Graziano looked capable of getting through them every time he was on the ball. Tadic hasn't had a good game for well over a month now.
  17. I don't think that's fair - we've got two good strikers injured and played two from the start today which naturally weakens the bench. Strikers this year: Pelle, Long, Rodriguez, Gallagher, Mayuka First year: Lambert, Rodriguez at his rawest, Mayuka, Guly, very occasionally Sharp Also, disappointing observation on our loss of defensive form: We've conceded seven goals in the last four games - two howlers (tonight, Villa), two from players left unmarked in the six yard box (tonight, Arsenal), two from moves which started from poor mistakes (City). Perhaps I'm being harsh, particularly with City's goals which were very well taken, but top defences don't concede that many soft goals.
  18. Not tonight, though. We didn't find it hard to dominate United because they were ready to hand us the game on a plate, but we didn't take it. We've beaten much tougher opposition than that this season. Only easier opponents in my book (in the league) have been Newcastle, Sunderland and West Brom.

    Yoshida

Quite right and I'm glad somebody's pointed out his good performances. He was largely solid last season too.
  20. He is an enormous drama queen, but we lost to 'the ****s' through our own errors and should be third. Fifth is great when it's the best you can do. At the moment we can be better than that.
  21. You can tell Koeman's angry.
  22. Has someone been playing with your calendar? Nothing's been decided tonight
  23. Can't say I agree. We made some chances but there's no excuse for our finishing and no excuse not to win this game given how poor United have been. Losing it is bordering on pathetic.
  24. Not good enough.
  25. No excuse not to win this game. United have been much, much, much worse than City or Arsenal
