  1. Christians do not approve of the lifestyle not the person. In the same way that promiscuity contradicts the institution of marriage they believe that so does homosexuality. Yes that might be a traditional or old fashioned viewpoint but people should be allowed to hold it.
  2. I think its very dangerous to start labelling people racists and homophobes because you disagree with them - that makes you the intolerant one. Just because you disagree with gay marriage does not make you a homophobe. Opposing the current relationship with Europe does not make you Xenophobic. Thank god there were people to fight us going into the Euro.
  3. I include lawyers as career politicians
  4. Generally a party of people who have a life out of politics. You see their warts more clearly because they do not have slick PR teams to manage them like the despicable career politicians that make up most of the Labour party and much of the Lib Dems and Tories.
  5. I did meet one of the last of the few who told me that they really did not know that they would be alive the next day. As a result they drank and drank running up enormous tabs in the local pubs. When Churchill gave his famous speech never has so much been owed by so many to so few. All the pubs had signs up locally saying never had so much been owed by so few to so many.
  6. Not necessarily. UKIP have a poll rating of 13 or 14% in the opinion polls yet in the recent by elections from Eastleigh to South shields have registered 25% as they did in the local elections. In the Euro elections they will score in my opinion 30%. In the general election they will poll 4%.
  7. Their education policy has some merit to it. Their health policy might work, but stands a good chance of making a mess of the NHS. Their tax policy is outrageous, a flat rate of tax would see the gap between rich and poor increase dramatically, while either overall government tax income would be massively reduced (meaning even more cuts to public services), or the flat rate would have to e higher than the bar rate is currently (perhaps everyone paying, say 30% might just work, hardly fair on the majority of people though). But hang on, in the section called the economy UKIP are proposing tax cuts. Where does this money come from? Or do they actually mean tax cuts for everyone earning £50k + (with the richest saving the most), paid for by the masses? Personally feel that their views on Europe, gay marriage, defence, and the environment are completely wrong. Pubs are much better since smoking was banned, and the fox hunting ban should IMO be extended to include hunting with birds of prey. Have you ever actually ever seen falconry? Or is your opinion based purely on your own perception of it?
  8. Yes one is a poll of 1500-2000 and one is a poll of several million.
  9. "Will some kind hand in this foreign land place a flower on my son's grave"
  10. So do you trust opinion polls because they use a tiny sample of the public.
  11. Not really because it changes the dynamics. Everybody knows that come a General Election most people will revert back to their usual party of choice however it may just push UKIP up to 4% which will be very influential in certain seats. It will also be significant in determining the policy of the main parties in their General Election manifestos. Most importantly I think that come the European Elections they genuinely have a chance of topping the polls. People will be desperate to fill the EU parliament full of people who hold the EU to account. Their budgets that nobody will sign off and their undemocratic attitude to the region's affairs.
  12. A quarter of the vote in an election is not overblown.
  13. Well actually you do not have to be a nutter to believe in a small state, free market economics with a healthy scepticism for the European project. After all what would have happened if we had joined the Euro. What I might find a little unpalatable is the reason why many UKIP supporters are opposed to Europe. I also think that controlled immigration is a good thing because people prepared to emigrate have a lot of drive and that is good for your economy. All core supporters of political parties are generally nutters
  14. How absolutely awful. RIP
  15. Sometimes you have to admit that you are likely to be wrong! I think Verbal is making more of a fool than Pap for the sheer level of venom and self righteousness in his attacks.
  16. As I understand it Al Qaeda is pretty disjointed, people get radicalised and then do there own thing. It is the umbrella, nobody reports into a chap with a big beard in Somalia. That is why it is so difficult to predict attacks. In my opinion it is likely that the elder brother got radicalised on the Internet and then roped is poor brother in. Radical Islam was the driver not a couple of college kids who felt their fellow students saw them as drop outs. These are all how I see it but I may well be wrong.
  17. Verbal seems to forget that he was suggesting that it was a Columbine style attack and that it was a conspiracy by the 'Republican Right' to suggest that it was a terrorist attack motivated by Islam. I think he is wide of the mark as are Pap's theories but I don't think they warranted such an outraged and angry attack. Pap is a likeable lefty and often comes up with interesting slants.
  18. I am really sorry MLG I should have looked harder. Maybe hospitality. Cheers
  19. Thanks for the idea but I needed two because one is for my young nephew
  20. I could not see any ticket information on the official site
  21. Pap the beauty of the freedom of speech is that people get to comment on what you say. The biggest threat to it is people talking crap. I rarely agreed with you but I always could just about see where you were coming from. This time you lost me!
  22. Well I interpreted Verbal's points as suggesting that the Boston Bombing was more closely associated to a Columbine style attack than a Islamist inspired attack. I am with the latter. I do not think there is a Republican Right conspiracy to portray the attack as a terrorist attack, I think it was. Anyway after what has happened to the poor people of Chechnya in the last two decades you can probably understand why Chechens have issues settling down and why their faith is often at the extreme end.
  23. What Viking? I am merely suggesting that I think that the attack was made by two Islamist guys who became radicalised on-line. Verbal has suggested that it is more like a Columbine style attack by College students and that to call them terrorists is part of a behind the scenes plan by the Republican Right. I think he is wrong.
  24. Verbal do you still believe that this is a Columbine style attack or an Islamist motivated terrorist style attack? Or are you being a little paranonoid in thinking it is some sort of theory put forward to further the agenda of the American Right?
  25. I would suspect that that the brothers were 'Islamist' terrorists motivated by a hatred of America shared across many Muslim people's across the world. Today's Al Qaeda terrorist is not necessarily part of some organised structure but is merely united by the Internet. The modern terrorist can be radicalised on-line and then educate themselves as to how to cause an atrocity without reporting in to some higher figure and I would believe that this is what these brothers have been up to. Perry Mason Pap may struggle to defend these guys but I am happy to listen to all the evidence. I think that you are wide of the mark when you say that the brothers were motivated by a university/college campus type motive. These style rampage's are in my opinion driven by a sense of resentment at being left out from the 'in crowd' and the 'college football' circles. Labelled as 'drop outs' a bitterness manifests itself and ultimately ends in a massacre. Unfortunately the gun laws in the States make them very vulnerable to these tragic scenarios. Its why gun laws need an overhaul. You criticise Pap for being Paranoiad Verbal but your Paranoia is very visible in your association with the 'Republican' Right and the cranks views you attach links to. Gun laws are rejected by a sizeable part of the American population because they don't like the Government telling them what to do. Whatever we may think of American gun laws many normal Americans object to gun laws for reasons we probably cannot relate to.
