Can we just play football in their half please? When the ball is in our half we look utter ****e. Sloppy, paniccy. Cedric needs to learn how to defend.

Am I right in thinking that the Saints game today wont be on SportsMania today? If so, where will the best 'place' to watch it be? I need a browser-based stream. Thanks.

CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal
mcbendy replied to Brizzie Saints's topic in The Saints
Wikipedia says he played 6 games for us on loan in 2011... Can anyone remember him? -
Couldn't help noticing that Forest had three ex Saints in their team tonight. Fox, Antonio and Blackstock. Got me thinking - what is the most ex-saints that have simultaneously been on the field? For instance if Forest played Liverpool. Any statos out there? MLG?

the fags on the seat are a nice touch!

+1 for this - great shout

Nope, but Arsenal were supposedly interested in signing Morgan/Wanyama and didn't/haven't.

Injured, again http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33801783 WhoScored.com @WhoScored Jack Wilshere: Arsenal won just 22.2% of the PL matches which Wilshere started last season compared to 69% of the games he did not start Seems to me to be massively over-rated, even when he is occasionally fit to play. Can't believe that Wenger can't see it. A Schneiderlin or Wanyama could turn them into genuine title contenders. Trying to play Wilshire in defensive midfield is laughable. He's a ming vase.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/11549333/Liverpools-signings-during-the-Brendan-Rodgers-era-rated-by-Chris-Bascombe.html All of the signings during the Brendan Rodgers era rated Twenty-three players have been brought to Anfield since Rodgers was appointed in 2012, with the transfer committee of Rodgers, Michael Edwards, Ian Ayre, Michael Gordon, Dave Fallows and Barry Hunter overseeing new signings. In a withering assessment of Liverpool's recruitment policy over the last three years, Chris Bascombe deems just five of the buys successes, but will this summer's signings be any better?

I note with some satisfaction that Brenda is the bookies favourite to be sacked. I REALLY hope that he is sacked this season. The man is so obviously an arrogant bell-end. It amazes me that the media love-in continues in many quarters, despite how poorly (obviously, surely?!) he invested the Suarez money. Have any of his signings been anything other than flops? Hopefully we'll be ahead of them in November and he'll have been sacked before Christmas.

CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal

Yes, I'm sure you're right. It's a system that he is a big fan of. Explains why we have been practising it throughout pre-season. -
Ross is about add small as Jordy Clasie - neither would look out of place in the curios sideshow of a circus
-
Here is 24 seconds from the Vitesse game in three screen grabs. 15:50 - that's Davis next to Pelle in the box 16:05 - Davis back in central midfield exchanging passes with Clasie (who loses it in a dangerous position) 16:14 - Davis overtakes Clasie and leaves him for dead, chases down the Vitesse player and helps Yoshida push him wide and out of play Also worth taking a look at the first (Pelle) goal in this game. Note Davis's starting position and where he ends up. If the shot comes back off the post or the keeper, he gets a tap-in. Makes you wonder why he doesn't score more...

The caption underneath reads "Nivea - official men's grooming supplier for Liverpool Football Club" So it is NIVEA (not Roy Hodgson) who have been grooming all of our players for LFC...

Steven Davis is a fantastic player for us. He is terrifically fit, technically excellent, passes well, tackles well. It would be brilliant if he scored lots too, but let's not lose sight of what he does do for the team. I can see it, and so can a succession of Saints managers...

I've just been watching the full 90 of the Vitesse first leg again. Lots of things to ponder, but one of the things that struck me is how much pace we now have in the squad. In JRod, Mane, Long, Juanmi and Soares we have five seriously rapid players. I'm trying, and failing, to recall a time when we had such a threat in behind. Is this unique in my lifetime (I was born in 1979)? I suppose the question is, do we have the players to play that perfect through ball (Tadic, Clasie?), and what happens when teams keep a deep back line and don't leave space in behind? IIRC there were lots of times last season when we passed it backwards and forwards across the edge of their box before floating a hopeful cross into the box which opposing defenders cleared. We certainly seem more of a threat when we build up a head of steam. Will our opponents cotton on and just drop deep? What is Plan B?
