Positives - Pelle was excellent. JWP had a great game - the best in a Saints shirt for a while. Caulker much improved. Targett had some better moments, although also a few not-so-good moments. Romeu added something and contributed. What was lacking was the link between defense and attack. Koeman asked them to play direct to try and get through the Midtdtdtylland midfield block and in some senses it was working, but although Pelle was winning almost everything in the air we created little as a result - the runs off him and around him didn't come together. Best chances on the whole from JWP set pieces (which were superb).

It takes a certain kind of determined narcissism to have composed the post-match reaction thread and be hovering over the 'post' button before the game has even finished. Congratulations - you can now see your name on the thread for the next couple of days. Does this help fill whatever void you are trying, desperately, to fill?

I just think having a porn star dolly bird doesn't reflect well on his character. Suggests he has an ego that needs massaging (or something like that...) and might not be the ideal team player.

Josh Debayo was wearing 35 today in training. Will Wood also trained with the 1st team but was in his U21 attire - no squad number. I couldn't see Isgrove (dropped to U21s?). No sign of Gaston either - either whatever unspecified injury it is rolls on, or he's been frozen out.

Bringing in a totally new first choice CB pairing, neither with Prem experience, would be a total complete and utter ****-up. There is simply no way that this will happen. Forget about it.

The more I see of him (e.g. last night) plus these paper reports, his choice of girlfriend etc, the less I want him at the club. Last night he looked pretty lazy, slack, casual. Hardly striving with every sinew for the win. I'm not sure he has the right attitude. I know that the club are supposed to be great at doing this sort of 'homework' so hopefully they know what they are doing. We have such a good dressing room, the last thing we need is a bad influence. Maybe it could work the other way and the professionalism of our squad could impact on him? He's only a young man so maybe the Prem is just what he needs to raise his game and his attitude.

Really good signing. Pleased with this. Thoughts on the contract length though? Three years seems short for such a young player. Do you think this was to suit the club or the player?
