There are some real 'characters' on SWF (for 'characters' read 'folk who don't seem to understand the basic [frequently stated] philosophy of the club, nor the wage structure').

It staggers me that some so-called Saints fans know this club and it's transfer policy so badly that they think we might consider such things. Buying players who are at the end of their careers and on high salaries makes no business sense. Their value depreciates rather than grows. Their physical capabilities tail off. The likelihood of them getting injured increases. It makes no sense. That is why we don't do it! QPR under Redknapp did exactly this and what happened to them ...?

A factor in whether to 'keep him' will be whether he is happy to stay if he is not getting many starts. Remember that he was dropped from a recent matchday squad for having a poor attitude in training. Team spirit is very important and Koeman will not want sulky people in and around the squad. This is why the likes of Yoshida are so important - good back-up professionals who have a good attitude.

I've seen the award of the penalty. How is that different from the Falcao:Stekelenberg one? It looks to me like Bertrand sees the sliding tackle coming, taps the ball and goes down before any contact. I'm happy with the win, but it looked like a dive to me...
