Shows a lack of commitment to joining Saints is you ask me. He should be throwing the game to accelerate his transfer -

Celtic 1-0 up... -
Bizarre... I am delighted by the job that Les is doing and hope that he keeps doing it for a long time hence.

What does it take to be banned from SaintsWeb? I come on here and - without fail - there are the same few people acting like ****s. I say that because I firmly believe that some people - naming no names - are quite deliberately trying to provoke a reaction via their inflammatory posts. Trolling, in essence. Isn't habitual trolling a basis for being banned? -

Still, we could use Caulker to plug a hole in the defense. -

You can't have Forster or Bertrand. Boruc in goal. Left-back is Shaw. Mings on the bench? -
As a distraction from the lack of transfer news... name your best XI and subs if you can from current (2015/16) Premier League players who have previously played for saints (at any level). No more than two players from each current club. As a bonus, name your all-time fantasy XI from ex-saints (including retired players)

Leaving who to fill in Wanyama's place in defensive midfield? A centre-back should stay in the centre at the back, unless spreading wide to receive the ball from the goalkeeper. -

The videos of VVD bursting forward from defense into the opposition penalty area make me think... I don't want a central defender with so little defensive discipline. David Luiz anyone? Leaving who to fill in at centre-back? Jordy Clasie??? -
Point 1: Longer with the squad, more training, minutes in the Espanyol game, minutes as a sub in the prem Point 2: Reed has been around the 1st team for a while, knows how we play, has experience of prem-level tempo, is much fitter and is (at the moment) a more effective defensive midfielder.
-
Honestly don't think Clasie should start yet. Doesn't know his team-mates well enough, doesn't know our system, isn't fit enough. Reed or Davis alongside Vic.
-
Stek Soares- Fonte - Maya - Targett Vic - Reed Tadic - Mane - Davis Pelle Subs: PG, Martina, Stephens, Clasie, Juanmi, Long, J Rod

When De Gea first signed for united he had a few ropey games. It takes young (skinny) keepers, however good, a while to learn how to assert themselves. If I had seen no sign of progress from PG I would agree with the OP. I actually think he has been brilliant this pre-season and deserves his chance. As per my earlier post - list any better 23 year old keepers... If we had just watched a 23 yr old put in a performance like PG did against Groningen we would all be saying "he looks decent. Under Dave Watson's coaching he could turn into a quality no. 1"
-
List other goalkeepers aged 23 (or under) who are better than PG.
-
2-1 Saints with J Rod and Long scoring, apparently
-
For info Gallagher played for the U21's last night - so it's not that he's injured, he just didn't make the cut for the senior team. (source - OS U21s match report)

I agree that when he had possession he rarely gave it away. I'm looking for much more from him than occasional backwards/sideways passes. If he gets premier-league-fit then I think he'll be brilliant for us. Those saying he looks the part right now are blind to the truth. He isn't (yet) fit enough for our 1st team.
