  1. Meh. Sell to anyone but Liverpool. Can take a lower offer now as no "loyalty" payment.
  2. 100% this. Good post.
  3. Let's get rid, sign Wimmer and Hoedt for £32m, then chuck £30m at a proper water carrier DM.
  4. Serious question, is there any legal action we can take against Liverpool, that their illegal approach to Van Dijk has resulted in an unhappy player, and that if he doesn't play that is; (a) diminishing his value; (b) potentially affecting any performances he does make; and © affects the club adversely when he doesn't play? Surely there is something a lawyer or two could come up with, as well as pushing forward the extra evidence we apparently have on Liverpool and getting them a transfer ban.
  5. I'd be happy with staying with the status quo. We have a pretty good squad, and hopefully the new manager can re-invigorate them. It is always exciting signing new players, but for once maybe we do just stand still and see what happens.
  6. That's always been the issue. If VVD tries to push through a transfer now, Liverpool will likely get a transfer ban. It would be interesting to see whether they may have to pay us additional compensation as their comments and tapping up have essentially made VVD less attractive to other clubs, and driven his price down (potentially). As an aside, even if he did hand in a transfer request, we can always turn it down.
  7. Our PR department are the absolute nuts. That's hilarious.
  8. Aren't you talking about Charlie Austin?
  9. So this information is pretty much 4th hand, about something that would not be common knowledge to anyone but the player and his agent. Yeah, not sure I'll be taking this news as gospel.
  10. I agree. I would like a new CB to partner VVD, but tbh Yoshida and Stephens may be decent enough to step up. Don't think we need anything else.
  11. What about Rooney kissing the United crest when he used to play Everton, to wind the Evertonians up? That's the one that makes me laugh.
  12. Looks like Everton are signing Giroud from Arsenal for £20m. Now I'm jealous
  13. I think we'd see 2 x £20-£25m players, but yes, I think that's what's likely.
  14. Agree with this. And to be fair it's mental money as long as we spend it well on replacements.
  15. ****-swinging contests between two bull****ters. Good stuff Saintsweb, good stuff.
  16. May be wise to pipe up the other side of the family and get one of their cranes then...
  17. Where did I say it did? I wasn't replying to you. Just puts him in the same realms as the likes of Djimi Traore.
  18. I seem to remember Ryan Bertrand played in Chelsea's final win over Bayern didn't he?
  19. Every time Samuel writes one of these articles, F365 catches him out on Mediawatch. It's very funny. One rule for one… The Daily Mail’s Martin Samuel has praised Monaco for doing ‘what they do in France’ and giving Tiemoue Bakayoko plenty of first-team football last season before selling him for £35.1m to Chelsea. And this is because Chelsea are evil and do not do the same thing with their young players. Thus, Monaco are to be praised. Well done, Monaco. The Daily Mail’s Martin Samuel feels a little differently about Southampton, who ‘sell their best players’ and merely ‘have a fine Academy that generates revenue’. This is because he hates Southampton. Thus, Southampton are to be derided. Boo to Southampton. Oh when the Saints… Mediawatch cannot spend too long on Martin Samuel’s latest nonsense about Southampton but claiming that you ‘could argue’ that Swansea and Stoke are ‘more successful’ than the Saints is quite some claim. You could argue that, but you would be a damned fool with a massive axe to grind. ‘Let’s see, Swansea won the League Cup in 2013 and have gone further than Southampton in Europe…’ Yes, and they have just fought a relegation battle in a season that saw them employ three different managers. They have only once finished in the top eight over the last five years, which is a feat achieved in four successive seasons by Southampton. ‘Stoke have reached as many domestic finals this decade and got to the Europa League’s last 32.’ ‘This decade’? Just about. They reached a domestic final in 2010/11, when Southampton were still in League One. And they have never once finished in the top eight. Mediawatch suspects that Southampton fans are rather happier than their lot. But why let that get in the way of yet another pop at a club that has no ‘ambition’ (despite spending more on transfers over the last five years than every club bar the top six)? http://www.football365.com/news/mediawatch-alexis-sanchez-wants-spain-or-england-or
  20. Well, that was considered wrong. Perhaps you can post a link. May is far further right than Cameron, for instance.
  21. He may be alright as an assistant or a coach..?
