I know the Football Rumours site is a bag of sh*te, but it is a good laugh! http://www.football-rumours.co.uk/southampton-rumours.php 05 Sep 2010 19:42:40 southampton fc to appoint eric cantona as manager tommorow and for southampton to sign michail antonio on loan and either luke moore or michael kighlt on loan. Yeh right... Eric Cantona obviously keeping an eye on lower english league signings.

I think he works for MI6
-
I have seen his name mentioned on here, is he in the frame then? or just wild speculation.
-
Nor me, PM that is, not the HRT!
-
yes, I give in!
-
Come on Alps come clean, you've wanted the job for years! I can just imagine it "The Alpine Stand".
-
Please not Lothar Matthäus.
-
Is it Alpine Saint?
-
Ok, where have you all gone?
-
Has this person everyone is pooing themselves over, been offered the job or accepted the job?
-
Cant really see Maradona trogging it up to Rochdale on a cold and wet winters night!
-
This potential manager must have the wow factor as all those ITK are creaming themselves. With that in mind it has to be someone outrageous like: Keegan and Shearer dream machine David Beckham Player manager Maradona Eric Cantona Keegan and LeTissier dream machine The Pope George Bush junior Eddie The Eagle Have I nailed it?

I disagree. There is plenty of managers licking their lips at the moment, just look at the list of names linked, I grant you though, a third of them are imo not up to it. I suppose the leading question is how much control does the manager actually have and that is a question we do not know the answer to. The finances are there, the stadium, the infrastructure, a team until recent years that was in the top flight for nearly 30 years, to me this is a great opportunity for the right person although the demands on him will be great. To me it is a job that will either make or break a manager but I recon there is a whole bunch of them out there chomping at the bit.

Keegan and Shearer dream team, now that would be interesting, not sure if it would work, but very interesting.

You guys and your PM's...............bless!
-
Well at least Wilkins wont get the job. I'm worried about Lambert, he is not the same player in any shape or form, and when he does'nt perform, nor do saints.
-
Who the feck was that who punted the ball into the penalty area for them to score?
-
Where's Gully? Is'nt it being rumoured that him not being played much in the last game is the reason why NC and AP fell out. If that is the case Wilkins will be gone by 5.30 tonight!
-
I have to agree with your sentiments Saint Lard.
-
NC confuses me. He demands instant success and wants to do it in style the Southampton Way. To me this can only be acheived by selecting a manager with a proven track record in producing results and in a certain style. The likes of Howe and Adkins etc, although doing very well atm and producing the style of football that presumerably NC wants, these guys are relatively inexperience with no top flight credentials. Although it might just work if one of these guys were selected, it would be a huge gamble and one that I cannot imagine NC taking. I cannot imagine NC being tempted by the likes of Brown, Dowie etc, they for me do not fit NC's criteria. That is why I am struggling envisaging the next manager.
-
Forget who you want as manager for a minute. Who do you see in your (realistic) minds eye stood there in the dug out? For some reason I cannot imagine any of the names being mentioned managing saints. I've tried and it just aint happening.
-
Yeh, heard it in the second half. Doh!
-
Probably barking up the wrong tree, but I'm watching the England game and cannot see Stuart Pearce on the England. Anyone seen him?
-
For the ladies possibly but not sure about saints.

Well I suppose it is friday..........................................when nothing normally happens!
