I am nervous about saturday mainly because saints often have this habit of not living up to expectations. Most pundits are classing us as favourites, that makes me nervous. I was hoping that a side was going to be put together that would undoubtably look all dominating with some exciting new signings. The signings we have made have been ok but not wet myself ok, and with the loss of Papa and Antonio we have lost some buzz and speed, perhaps this will be rectified shortly, but overall I am a little more nervous and cautious than I expected to be at the start of this season.

Cannot understand putting him on even in a friendly if he is that bad. I know some people on here think that friendlies are meaningless but why play a player who is simply not good enough and no part of any future plans.

Oh come on, you are talking about players from teams that have more than ample cover if these guys get crocked.

The older you are the longer it takes to get over injuries. Look this is my opinion, if we sign DV and he does the business for us great, but I remember the old days when Lawrie Mac use to bring in these ex stars, and yes there were a few that done the business not least KK, but I also remember watching some of them who were shadows of their past and spent more time injured than on the park.

Different type of league, less protection from lower class referee's. Dont get me wrong, I use to rate DV, had good speed and use to score some cracking goals, but I also remember him being injured alot, and as he has only managed 4 goals for a Turkish club may I suggest that his best is behind him. With the sort of salary he will want would'nt it be to our benefit to look for a younger player in his mould that would give us better value for money and who perhaps is a bit more hungry. For those that have used Connolly and Jaidi of examples of good ex prem purchases, good though they have been when they have played, injuries guys, injuries.

Do we really need another injury prone player on our books? Fading ex prem players will not cut it in L1, it is too physically demanding. One stiff tackle and he will be out of the game for months.

What I want and what I think are two different things altogether. I am not taken in with this talk that we are going to walk this league. The best possible start would have been to have had a good pre season, that would have given me much more confidence but as of now my confidence is draining.

The problem is, we more often than not seem to have sh*te pre season results followed by sh*te early season results. If true to form then we are once again playing catch up when it counts, and then we blame our early season results for us underperforming.
