Sky reporting deal is now very close to being done at £18m... Would seem we're getting that Norwegian lad, Elyounoussi, into replace him. Dusan will be a massive loss on and off the field - big character and very well liked in the dressing room i'm led to believe.
-
I've heard from a mate who is associated with the club 'don't worry about all the negative media stuff, it is happening (Hughes) and will be announced soon' Not claiming to be ITK - just what I heard.
-
No truth in it.

Surely there must be a genuine ITK who has a little more knowledge on the situation? I wouldn't have been overly concerned if it hadn't been for the classic mouthpieces of the club letting us know the deal was imminent. As has been said on here many times over on this thread there wouldn't have been an overwhelming clamour of appreciation for Mark Hughes at the beginning of last season but we are where are and as it stands it seems the players have responded very well to MH so it makes sense to give him the job whilst we consolidate. Any reluctance from Mark Hughes part at this moment should be seen as rather worrying because from Ralph and Mark - there was nothing other than to suggest this was a formality and if this is no longer the case then it means that we're moving the goalposts (excuse the pun). MH won't be offered a better opportunity than this in the near future so surely he'd be chomping at the bit to get this over the line... That being said, he might be on holiday, this is all done and dusted and they're going to announce asap and we're all losers for spending time on here panicking when we should be at work.. Cheers then.

VVD's picture with a Liverpool shirt had a bloody Christmas tree in it - that is how long Saints have been pottering about. 'Difficult Market' - not that difficult that clubs around us have managed to strengthen - Guido Carillo might well be excellent but he would only be part of the puzzle. I've not felt this frustrated in a long time about Southampton Football Club - we shouldn't be where we are and we shouldn't be waiting until 11.11 on the last day to realise that the Promes deal won't happen. Pretty sick of it to be honest - will always support and follow SFC but today can be marked under an annoying one to say the least.
-
This is so so frustrating - we are crying out for pace and we've known this for months, why wait until the last day. If Spartak had a caveat that they wanted to replace Promes before selling then we should have been looking for other options too - safe in the knowledge that we would be able to bolster sufficiently. Classic.

I don't want to be pessimistic but i'm counting down the hours until Adam Blackmore tells us it'll be a quiet night for Saints as their transfer business was wrapped up nice and early.

What a load of pony

Well that's that then.

Considering we're 17 days into the window there is a surprising lack of murmuring go on - ordinarily this wouldn't bother me because Saints don't do their 'shopping' in public. However, after we've been fed names quite obviously from the club, it is slightly worrying that everything has gone quiet now, and I mean really quiet - there isn't a single rumour floating about - other than Carillo (another story). I guess the thing is, the reason everyone is feeling **** is because this is the first time since 2009 that things that have genuinely been rather worrying. Yes, when Cortese went and then Poch that felt worrying but then RK came in and that was great. Then he went and we panicked but then Puel came in and was dull but an 8th place finish and a cup final alleviated some of those worries. We're now in a downward spiral and all fans want is some reassurance from the club that they understand the predicament and are looking at ways to sort it out - we currently have nothing.

Thanks all, all sorted!

Now that Sam has come out and publicly stated his and Everton's desire to acquire the services of Theo it'd be a bit of a slap in the face and bad PR for Theo to end up at Saints. As a result i'm sure they'll end up paying a little over the odds to make sure the deal gets over the line - I mean, who would want to lose out on a transfer to 'small club Southampton.' Joking aside, all relatively respected outlets such as Telegraph and Independent suggested that we were looking to make this transfer happen to appease the fans, if that is the case then they should have tried harder to get it done because what actually has happened is the opposite. They've mentioned names such as Gaitan, Walcott and Sturridge and whatever your views are on these players we know that they can all play and importantly, the latter anyway, score goals. To mention these names and to ultimately end up with none of them and perhaps someone that nobody has heard of isn't necessarily a way to appease fans. I understand that Les has to, to a certain point, treat the club as a functioning business but the annoying point is the above players weren't pulled out of a hat by Jeremy Wilson, they would have been fed to him via the comms department to alleviate some of the Saints fans fears - if this happens you must try harder to sign them. We know for a fact that even if the VVD money is to be split over a series of windows there should be a minimum of £20m available at any one time - that is enough to try and make a substantial signing. It just seems that party line is 'we tried but it didn't work out - not our fault' For me, it gets to a point where the above isn't good enough.

Think they're gone now, thanks anyway.
