I went to see Yeovil almost grab a win against Millwall last night - key points from the game that may be of interest for Saturday... Pitch. Looked in very good shape - the occasional bald spot but nothing at all to worry about. It was also watered at half time with those pop-up sprinklers, obviously to the Millwall subs' surprise. Stadium You are very close to the pitch. The seating Millwall fans were located in Blocks PP and P of the Cowlin stand. Block N is next to the black sheeting that provides the segegration, but appears to have a few season ticket holders on the end of the rows, perhaps to be expected. Yeovil Played 4-4-1-1 on the night. Appear to concentrate its attacks down the left with a long throw threat very potent on that side from their pacey full back. They worked themselves into some decent positions last night but lacked the killer ball. Danger players Gavin Williams plays in the 'hole' and is arguably their playmaker and best player, certainly in terms of running with the ball. Central midfielder JP Kalala and the aforementioned left side threat, Nathan Smith and Andy Welsh should also be watched. Dean Bowditch took his goal well, but was sometimes left isolated up front. Verdict Before last night's result filtered though I thought that if Saints go behind, it may prove difficult to get back and win. However as long as they are not over-confident they have a good chance of victory, but Yeovil can and will bite. Millwall had a lot of the play and the chances last night but just couldn't get the decisive opener. Yeovil did and then had something to hang onto, preferring to concentrate further goal threats on the break. They nearly managed it too - Millwall's equaliser was scored by Jon Obika, ex-Yeovil loanee who didn't celebrate. There was a small pitch invasion which led to the stewards, local plod and the Met Police trying to get the fans off. The Millwall keeper didn't help, celebrating and then hugging some of the fans that came on!

..and be quick about trying, Yeovil may (and probably will) introduce restrictions on buying tickets, to people already on its database if they reside outside their local postcodes (BA, SP, BH, DT, EX, TA)... I believe the away fans will be sat in the Cowlin stand, Block PP (and possibly P)...

Didn't he have a good long throw on him when at Saints? If so, Spurs don't appear to use it

about 2 miles or so, accessible by an awful winding road that I wouldn't recommend walking on... Bus or taxi I think would be the safest means of getting to the town.
-
If Saints hadn't had the 10 point deduction, we would be now eight points behind 2nd with a game in hand... Next season will be the one to judge AP, with a full pre-season and transfer window to wheel and deal available. 6th would be fantastic of course next month however!
-
Look further up, we would be 8 points off 2nd as well with a game in hand.... Ironic

I may be going to see Yeovil play Millwall on Tuesday so I will scout the surface in preparation for Saturday!

Looks like it's a sellout folks.

203 appearances, 119 goals according to Wiki, at just 22 years of age. Superb. You'd think just get a beast of a physical centre half on him, and you'd keep him quiet! Reading up further on him, it would appear Barcelona identified and really looked after him and his family from an early age. They paid for his medical bills for his growth hormone deficiency for example. I'm sure he would have more goals, had his debut not been put on hold until he had Spanish citzenship as well. Saturday it's the Ronaldo vs Messi show

Yep. I was surprised to see them listed online this morning. Yeovil have been very strict on letting people into the seats in the past, with people being shuffled onto the terracing (space permitting naturally). I'd be interested to know in which stand the actual away seating is located. I always remember it being in the Agusta Westland Stand (in the corner next to away terrace on dugout side of pitch), but Saints' site lists the Cowlin stand, which is the opposite side?
-
Looks like either the seats have been sold out, or withdrawn from general sale as they are no longer listed online...

Yes, there is usually a few ready for business. If not, the ones we used to use were Radio Cabs 01935 426666 but not sure what they charge now. http://home.btconnect.com/yeovilradiocabs/ is its web address... There should be a bus service that runs to the Town Centre as well. If you get the bus into the town centre, jumping on the No.1 to Abbey Manor will drop you off almost next door to the Arrow, there's a local Tesco store nearby also. HTH,

What time are you getting into Yeovil Junction? You may have to get a taxi to the pub/ground as the station is 2/3 miles outside the town itself, and the road is not exactly the best for walking either! Pub-wise, you have three choices, though I am unsure which one is best for away fans today as I moved away from Yeovil a few years ago now. 1. The Arrow (BA21 3TL) which is on Stourton Way on the Abbey Manor estate is the closest. Google Map link 2. Airfield Tavern (BA22 8UX) on Bunford Lane. (Palmers fish and chip shop is opposite). Google Map link 3. Further afield you have the Bell, which is on Preston Road (BA21 3AG). Google Map link Huish Park is BA22 8HF.

Donnelly would be a decent acquisition, perhaps the attacking central midfielder we desperately lack in the squad? He's does have a growing reputation - Sky sports compiled a report on him a few months ago... http://www.skysports.com/football/transfers/scout/0,24035,15198_5705290,00.html -
It was quite amusing to see Lambert being put in a sleeper hold at several throw-ins, yet did not get one free kick. Happens every game though....

An off day all round for the starting XI with the exception of Lallana - when will Saints actually wake up the moment the match begins! Before Orient scored inside 90 seconds, they could already have been 1 up! Following the goal, Orient just stuck everyone behind the ball and allowed Saints to try and pass their way through the block of 9, sometimes 10 players. Puncheon's corners were woeful with always hitting the first man, but credit where it was due, his quick switch of play and cross contributed to both Lallana's goals (as did Lambert's header for No.2). Regarding the subs, Seaborne always has one or two lapses of concentration a game, but I am sure that will cease given time. Paul Wotton again also causes some moments of panic, with his aimless headed clearances. Antonio again looked raw, some good bursts and some poor ones...

Davis Otsemobor Fonte Jaidi Harding Puncheon Hammond Wotton/Schneiderlin Lallana Barnard Lambert ...with Waigo, Connolly and Antonio on the bench if required?

If there were awards for League One's worst refereeing performances of 2009/2010, Eddie Ilderton at Tranmere would be in with a shout. He missed such an obvious handball a blind man could see it for Tranmere's third goal! Nil marks for the lino also for the 1st penalty decision as well.

...and a draw at the Moo Camp between MK Dons and Charlton...

Carlisle are currently winning against Bristol Rovers 2-1...

I had heard how bad the view was from the away end, but didn't realise it would be that bad! Didn't expect to be frisked either, or 'encouraged' to go into the away 'suite' as soon as we arrived either (in good time prior to KO). Cannot comment much on the first half, as it was played out of sight with regards Saints attacking, but defensively it seemed we were getting exposed by the midfield being bypassed by Brighton's quickness. 1-1 was good at the break and I did think AP would have seriously considered changes immediately or shortly after. Someone surely would have suggested it through the dressing room window on their way back from the loo Barnard was warming up for over 15 minutes before he came on second half, but to be fair we were having a decent spell early on, but Brighton broke away and scored. I think most Saints fans wanted him on ASAP after that, as Saints just seemed to run out of ideas and play hoofball. Post substitutions they played better and funnily enough when we got the ball on the floor, Waigo burst to the byline, hit the ball low across the box, goal. Happy with a point considering the performance in parts (wanted 3 naturally), but it leaves absolutely no margin for error now - 8 wins a must and that probably won't be enough.

No, that was 95/96 season if memory serves. Saints were playing Wimbledon - 0-0.
