Rumoured to be in talks with Orient...
-
Sending him home would be suicide for his career. You have... a) A keeper with perhaps no confidence with a little man on his shoulder saying 'will you catch this?, will you stop that?' in his ear. (Green) b) A keeper that is not match fit, is getting old and prone to at least one gaffe or nervous moment per game. (James) c) A keeper that is on form, played most of the season but is vastly inexperienced. (Hart). To me, Hart would be the No.1 choice, but his lack of experience may hold him back and earn Green another shot (boom boom).
-
Does Capello now go for a keeper that is low on confidence (Green), a keeper that is carrying an injury (James) or the vastly inexperienced yet probably the best choice (Hart)? Carragher over Upson and Dawson as well last night? Why is Dawson there then? Friday I'd tweak it slightly and go for Hart Johnson Dawson* Terry Cole Lennon Lampard Barry Gerrard Rooney Heskey ...*if King is not fit.
-
Joe Cole should have been brought on instead of SWP.
-
Can anyone see Michael Carrick figuring in the team? Perhaps his slot in the squad should have gone to Adam Johnson.....
-
Always going to be a draw, and I suspect both England and USA will win their other two games, hence it'll be decided on goal difference who tops the group. England vs Germany? England vs Serbia? England vs Australia? Hmph.

Thanks to some help from Lee Hetherington at the Ticket Office (who corrected an unfortunate administration error), I was able to renew mine this morning.
-
Interesting paragraph beside the ticketing section...
-
09:34 still being updated - its been like it for at least 4/5 days now.
-
I think the prices for the wings/goal were to be expected, at least by me. With the renewal price for 09/10 being £288, I suspected the club would increase the prices by between £1 and £1.50 per match. Add onto that a 2.5% increase in VAT and I had a guide price of between £318-£330 in my mind. It didn't cross my mind that I'd have no choice but to pay for it in one lump though... The £3.00 booking fee is unfair to all fans that live outside Southampton that go regularly and cannot get to the ground during the week. As I and others have said earlier, clarification is needed whether this applies to home games only and/or per ticket...
-
Wonder if the £3 booking fee applies per transaction rather than for each ticket. Hopefully the former.

GKs (3) Joe Hart, David James, Rob Green FBs (4) Glen Johnson, Jamie Carragher, Cashley Cole, Leighton Baines* CBs (4) John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Ledley King, Matthew Upson* Ws (4) Theo Walcott, Adam Johnson, Aaron Lennon, James Milner CMs (4) Stevie Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Gareth Barry**, Joe Cole* Ss (4) Wayne Rooney, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey * = Capello said he knew 20/23 players that were going, these are the three I think were undecided. ** = He'll go if he is fit to play a part post-group stage if we qualify. Therefore, these won't go... Michael Dawson - didn't get a chance in the wam-ups and Upson is left footed which may give him the edge. That said, wouldn't be surprised if he did actually make it. Stephen Warnock - as above, Baines only in by the skin of his teeth and the gulf between Terry and Bridge. Michael Carrick - poor season and some would argue not always 1st choice at Man Utd any more. Tom Huddlestone - blew his chance really to impress, but still has time on his side and a good season next year will help his cause for future squads and tornaments. Scott Parker - I'd take him if Barry isn't fit. Shaun Wright Phillips - I'd take Johnson instead, and Walcott has the hat-trick in Croatia to fall back on. Darren Bent - tough, but Heskey's better hold-up play (rather than scoring) gives him the edge, despite that horrific miss yesterday.

Not long now, so how about a predictions thread.

I think if England win the group, they are gaurenteed a 19:30 k/o game all the way to the final? An occurrance that would be ideal for keeping sicknotes at work to a minimum I'll check again, but I'm sure that's accurate.... edit - tis correct. The online system is down at the moment by the way for "updating"... perhaps an announcement is due next week?
-
Local rag in Southend states it is indeed Brentford....
-
Brentford could be the club apparently according to the Shrimpers site....
-
He looked good at St Marys, running with the ball and very decent long-range set-pieces - much better than Davis. The 'unnamed League One side' line certainly adds weight to the possibility of Saints, how many knew about Barnard for instance? Did we also pay a first option fee for Francis at the same time? If not him, maybe go for Johnny Mullins at Stockport, Club caption and can play centre half as well as right back...

I think he would play for us again if given the opportunity, not necessarily now though. Doesn't surprise me to hear he's a Rangers fan either -

Could work in his favour, with a solid season in 2010/11 he could then be in a better position to challenge for a first team spot in 2011/12. Still only being 20 would be also be ideal for his development. May be a case of one of Jutkiewicz or Vokes on loan? -

I'm sure Stephen Dawson is mentioned earlier in the thread, now available on a free! -

I'm sure they released him as he wouldn't sign a new deal... maybe wanted a big bucks deal to stay there perhaps? -
Kieswetter was born in South Africa, but I believe he waa educated in the UK... Highlights of the final can be seen here... http://www.cricket-online.tv/

Still think we should go for Simon Francis at Southend - he's expressed a desire to move to 'a Championship or a top league one' club. Another name that appears highly rated is a chap at Stockport... Johnny Mullins. He's out of contract now I believe and at 24/5 could be at the right age for the journey. -
Bartosz Bialkowski - May be given pre-season to decide whom should start as No.1 Ryan Doble - Must have something that Pardew likes Lloyd James Correct - Not strong enough to tie down RB or hold a place in central midfield Simon Gillett Correct - Not in the first team squad picture Oliver Lancashire Correct - Not in the first team squad Chris Perry Correct - Will not get need the 1st XI next season due to Martin's encouraging start Wayne Thomas Just too clumsy and slow at RB, not good enough at CB. Also has a history of injuries, even though he has the healing powers of Wolverine. Graeme Murty Correct (harsh) - Could Saints really afford to give a contract to someone who played such a low percentage of games last season? Jamie White Correct - If he's done his cruciate, very harsh on him, I seem to remember when Craig Richards did his ankle prior to release Saints' kept him on for his recovery. Football wise, seems to have missed the boat with his below-par (I'm sure Saints' expected more) loan spell with Eastleigh. Michael Poke Correct - needs to be playing 1st team football and don't think he's strong enough to be better than 3rd choice next season. Jon Otsemobor Correct - doesn't seem to have a defensive brain for a right back and let himself down with some poor showings late on. Jake Thomson Correct - not in the 1st team picture. Kayne McLaggon Correct (harsh) - never seemed to be able to get back to where he was pre-injury, and will probably step down the leagues before coming back up again in due course. Tom Dunford Cannot comment. Jack Boyle Cannot comment. Ryan Tafazolli Seems to have impressed at Salisbury and will act as the back-up central defender to the squad in case the big four get crocked when not out on loan. Tony Garrod Has also impressed seemingly and perhaps will go out on loan for the next step.
