Imagine he'll be on the bench for the first three games at least. Even if VVD does stay he hasn't played a competitive game since January and training separately for the first team squad who knows what his current fitness situation is. Rather worryingly were currently an injury away from a Stephens and Bednarek CB pairing.

Other Premier League Transfers - Deadline Day

To be fair, considering how awful we were against Midtjylland I couldn't foresee us finishing 6th yet we did. Hard to judge a teams prospects after a single game!! -
As a fan I don't disagree with the sentiment but our players are employees of a football business, they're never going to feel the same way about the club as we do. In reality we're stuck between a rock and a hard place...I think Virgil will be here after the window closes but the guy clearly doesn't want to be here so I find it difficult to trust him if he stays. It's all well and good saying he'll knuckle down once the window shuts but is he prepared to make a last ditch tackle which he knows is going to get him clattered? Is he prepared to play when not 100% for the benefit of the team? I can foresee a season of supposed 'niggling injuries' preventing him from playing regularly. As I said I think he'll be here when the window shuts but unlike some I have big doubts as to whether he'll preform to the same level as the previous two seasons.

Pretty sure Martin Samuel criticised us last summer for going for Puel when (in his opinion) we should be giving a British manager such as Micheal O'Neil a chance considering the success he's enjoyed with the NI team. Now he's criticising us at the end of the season for reviewing Puel's position, nothing like a bit of hypocrisy. Anyone would think he had a bit of a chip of his soldier.....

Seriously, who gives a toss what they think? I don't!!!

Did we not interview him last summer prior to appointing Puel?

From the Kingsland it looked like he got both hands to it though he was at full stretch. They were there for the taking but we couldn't keep them under pressure for long enough to get the break through. -

Thought most of his saves were pretty routine, wouldn't put any of them in the top drawer category. -

Please tell me your going on Sunday! -
Any chance we could buy a left foot for Redmond?

Season ticket has cost me £37.89 per goal so far. -
Travelling up from Bristol. My brother stays in Sheffield so will use that as a stopping off point on Friday and Saturday night. The Riverside is the only ground in the North-East I haven't done.

Generally agree but we finished the 12/13 season on 41 points so we've at least beaten that (just!). The goals scored at home is nothing sort of embarrassing, 17 goals in 17 home games and 9 of those goals coming in the matches against Burnley, Leicester and Palace.
-
9 of those 17 were scored in the games against Burnley, Leicester and Palace! Additionally that's our first league defeat by Arsenal at St Marys since our return to the top flight.

Liverpool 0-0 Saints - Match & Reactions Thread

A point at Anfield (which historically hasn't been a happy hunting ground for us) is a good result but I do have a slight sense of disappointment that we couldn't muster more of a threat especially given how poor Liverpool have been defensively this season -
With the squad available, do you think we should have gotten out of the group?
-
Out of interest, what did you think of our European campaign?
-
Positive we tried playing Mane, Tadic, Long and Pelle a couple of times under RK and like yesterday it didn't work. Not enough workers in the middle of the park!
-
Agree completely. I can forgive Puel for playing Redmond, Tadic, Boufal and Gabby but it was clear from early on that it wasn't working. He should've have changed it at ht and brought on PEH for either Tadic, Boufal or Redmond. It wasn't working why not change it?
-
We have been unfortunate with injuries but hand on heart could you have seen us winning yesterday even if Vvd and Austin had played? Pretty much untroubled defensively but guess Vvd may have chipped in with a header from a set piece. Austin? He requires good service and despite a number or offensive players on the pitch we created virtually nothing for Gabby so doubt Austin would have done better. Be interested to know how many touches Gabby had in Hull's box yesterday, two perhaps?
-
Let's not forget our poor campaign in the Europa League. For a club which qualifies for Europe so infrequently we really did make a **** poor fist of it. With Puel's experience of European football cited as one of the reasons for hiring him his failure to get us out of the group was/Is a big black mark against him IMHO.

Would've seen more entertainment if they'd wheeled on a couple of carts of horse manure and set them alight. Absolutely dreadful!
-
As has been said before, is the manager getting the most from the squad of players he's got? That's the only question that can determine his future for me and at present the answer IMHO is a resounding no.
-
Romeu has though you could argue that's just a result of him getting more game time.
