Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 1-1 FC Midtjylland
Trout-Tickler replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I didn't think we played too badly last night. We had two good chances through J-rod and Mane early on and if either of those goes in it's a completely different game. The middle part of the first half was turgid I have to say. Why was Targett left completely isolated on the left side? Whenever the ball came over to him people around me were ripping into him for not passing the ball or going down the wing himself. In reality how many times did he find himself with the ball and nobody ahead of him down the wing? He could've tried to take their player on but if he'd lost the ball we'd have been completely exposed down our left side. It wasn't until Mane came across to the left that Targett was able to get forward and (IMO) things started to improve. The second half was better until we started punting long balls. IMO we got the most joy from getting our quick players away down the wings. We needed to keep playing our football and not panic and start playing long balls which in reality is what we did. One last thing, how bad is our long range shooting? Vic, Maya, J-rod all had horrendous efforts from outside the box. The effort from Vic when the ball came to him on the edge of the box was particularly horrific. When the ball was coming to him he should've put his boot through it, instead he tried some sort of side foot effort which troubled only the crowd behind the goal. We're still well in the tie but it's going to be tough next week! -
Wanyama Transfer Rumours - Summer 2015 Edition
Trout-Tickler replied to brett24's topic in The Saints
Can't see us selling him, especially with Morgan having already left this summer. -
In reality I don't really mind being a so-called 'stepping stone' club as it's pretty obvious that's what we are. Sign players from lower profile leagues, get a few decent seasons out of them and then get good money for them. I just wish the players would be more open about it as every time we sign someone we get the usual horsesh*t about Saints being a big club, the EPL is the best and most high-profile league, their looking forward to improving, etc. In reality they're here for the money, will play well for a couple of seasons tops and then expect to move to a bigger club and CL football. It's complete bullsh*t but it's now how we're seen.

CONFIRMED - Oriol Romeu joins on 3-Year Deal
Trout-Tickler replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Hope the medical guys give his knees a good examination. According to Wiki he's had a couple of knee injuries! -
CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal
Trout-Tickler replied to Brizzie Saints's topic in The Saints
Be interesting to see whether he plays for Celtic tonight against Kilmarnock. If a deal is close then you'd have thought he wouldn't be risked. -
CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal
Trout-Tickler replied to Brizzie Saints's topic in The Saints
It's seemingly the modern way but it does seem odd that you first agree terms with the player and then negotiate the fee with their club! -
How on earth can you judge that at this point in time? In reality, you can really only judge how good a players season was at the end of it!

CONFIRMED - Steven Caulker - DONE DEAL (loan)
Trout-Tickler replied to washsaint's topic in The Saints
Surely cover for Gardos, why else would we sign him on loan? He was ok at Spurs and Swansea but pretty poor at Cardiff and QPR though I'd be surprised if those moves weren't more to do with £££'s than football. -

If we dont get through the qualifying rounds of Europe ......
Trout-Tickler replied to bender's topic in The Saints
Through injuries and suspensions everyone will get the chance to play during the season. Up to the players to convince RK that they should be in/stay in the team! -
Strengthening immediate Competitors
Trout-Tickler replied to Saint Without a Halo's topic in The Saints
Maybe we do but there's always the possibility that the contract has a CL or fixed sum release clause in it. -
Really? Being a little bit dramatic methinks! Had we even signed a player by this point last year?
-
I hope your right but I can't help feeling we'll have to pay more for said defender than Spurs have for Toby. As someone posted earlier if you want the player ask the price and pay it...at £11.5M for a top international defender who's already adapted to the English game we really should have matched Spurs offer and given Toby the choice.

Tbf, I think he said it was '99% a done deal'.

Cuco Martina - Signs Two Year Deal (Official)
Trout-Tickler replied to mcbendy's topic in The Saints
Guess we've signed him due to his versatility. I'll reserve judgement until I've seen him play!! -
Now that's a claim to fame!!
-
I've never heard of it! Had to google it to find out where it was
-
If it is in the hands of the lawyers don't expect he'll be able to say much about it.
-
What a bloody palaver! Let's get it sorted one way or the another as it's all getting quite tedious!!
-
If anyone can get him firing it's RK!
-
Noticed that the club didn't wish him all the best for his future career....

Less about 'History', thoughts on the future?
