  1. Chalobah’s appeal passed years ago - reputation was over inflated big time, had never done anything at senior level but always got lauded. Not good enough.
  2. Get him in if we can - he’s struggled with injuries but also hard if you can’t get regular game time, to get back up to fitness before your next injury. Great player, and 100% exactly the type of player we’re crying out for. Physical, quick, but has the skill to burst past a few players when we’re struggling to break a stubborn defence down.
  3. Always a bit nervy at the idea of new ownership tbh. Gao isn’t a Venky’s, or an Allam, if he left tomorrow i think it’d be hard to say he did much (if anything) wrong in his time here. Yes, he’s not the owner we’d all love, but he also doesn’t seem to be a total basket case either. Be careful what you wish for and all that, I guess.
  4. I know, that’s what I was pointing out to people who have as always taken what was said (by Le Tiss in this instance) completely out of context when explaining it to others. It was pretty clear to me that he was saying ‘just because it’s the law, doesn’t make it right’, but I don’t have a particular axe to grind or particular political leaning, so I tend to take things as I see them, rather than the way that suits my agenda. Like when Corbyn said ‘Osama Bin Laden’s death was a tragedy because he wasn’t tried in a court of law and held accountable for his crimes’ - naturally the headlines lead with ‘Corbyn thinks Bin Laden’s death was a tragedy’ and most don’t read past the headline so it suited them perfectly.
  5. He retweeted an image regarding Anne Frank, pointing out that just because something is ‘the law’ doesn’t mean it’s right (essentially saying those sheltering her were breaking the law, whilst those trying to capture her were obeying it). But that was a few days ago, so I think now he’s an anti-semitic holocaust denier, if i’m following things correctly.
  6. I guess the first initial comparisons of this tactic would be to see what has become of two of their staple Sunday morning shows that have seen male presenters replaced with female presenters. Sunday Supplement and Goals on Sunday have both been on for more than a decade, and within one season of ‘change’ have both now been cancelled..
  7. Broadcasters will eventually realise that the crowds they are pandering to, often don’t actually watch what they’re complaining about anyway. Think the BBC are cottoning on slowly.
  8. Tiss already alluded to people contacting his employer trying to get him sacked because of his Twitter posts. Imagine waking up in the morning and thinking ‘that guy on the internet has a different opinion to me so i’m going to try and get him sacked’. Fucking weirdos everywhere.
  9. They were leading to it all last season, every week one was missing, replaced by a newbie. People don’t watch it for the quality of analysis, they watch it because of the chemistry and the humour - if people just wanted score updates they’d watch football focus or just check their phone. It’s a shame, completely expected, but a shame. I like all the ‘why do you care, it’s only a tv program, who cares’ brigade when people find this stuff irritating - all the while we have days of coverage about song lyrics, ways of addressing people, and statues.

  11. Presumably they didn’t insist given that many players did go and posted about it on social media, as did the club. However if my employer advised me not to, and I went, and then left myself unable to work for two weeks because of it then i’d expect them to be pretty pissed off - especially if I was a contracted, high value asset.
  12. Redmond had been in France, they’ve had a quarantine period put in haven’t they? Bednarek has been away somewhere sunny but not sure where
  13. One of the most disappointing transfers in recent years simply because of what a great footballer he is really. Palace away in his first season he looked like a top midfielder, that would be gone to a top club by the end of the year. Such a shame we couldn’t have found that consistently because he would take us to another level, but clearly there’s something about him that just holds him back from finding that level on a regular basis.

  15. Interesting the Cavani comparison - just looked and Nunez is about 6’2. Links to Chris Wood yesterday (probably false) but wasn’t it said Ralph’s style normally incorporates a big CF for players to play off. Poulsen at Leipzig springs to mind. These links to big CF’s may not be a coincidence...
  16. I went to the Saints big quiz thing with the ex players vs current players a couple of years back and Cedric was there. He came across as a really nice guy, real good laugh, obviously popular amongst his teammates and was happy to be the brunt of the joke a lot of the time. So I wish him well and hope he’s successful at Arsenal, I just think we needed to upgrade - appreciate some probably rated him but for me he wasn’t good enough at the things we need from a full back. KWP may or may not be either, but i’m optimistic from what i’ve seen, really glad we seem to have got him onboard.
  17. Cedric’s problem with defending wasn’t particularly his height, it was that he was pretty shit. As mentioned, plenty of small fullbacks who do just fine, he’ll get beaten for headers sometimes i’m sure, but the game isn’t played in the air particularly often these days and what he lacks in height he more than makes up for in pace, desire and agility.
  18. KWP is going to cost us less than we sold Targett for, albeit Targett had a bit more experience i’d suggest he isn’t as highly rated as KWP has been at times in his career. If it’s £18mil for Hojbjerg as mentioned above I think it’s fairly decent considering we’ve very much got our hands tied - a player in his final year who’s made it clear as day that he only wants to go to one club!
  19. I am convinced his reputation is significantly enhanced by how ‘passionate’ he appears from all the air punching, and his post match interviews being interesting at times. For me he appears to have graduated from the Alexis Sanchez school of pretending you care more than anyone so people ignore the fact you let runners jog past you and give you an easy ride when you continuously give the ball away. Can see why some find it endearing but for me it’s just really grating. He missed 10 games by suspension in 2018/19 if I remember rightly, which is insane, but people credited it as ‘passion’ when it was just fucking stupid and let his teammates down.
  20. I don’t have a problem with it being one of the talking points of the season, of course it will be. I have a bit of an irritation when it comes to mentioning it every 5 minutes during our games - it’s like when Van Dijk was playing for us it was mentioned every 5 minutes that Liverpool wanted us. I just group these things as evidence that most pundits never watch us and don’t have much else to say - like when Sunday’s commentator said it was a ‘rare start’ for Che Adams when he’s started most games since lockdown, or when Danny Murphy said Cedric was a good crosser of the ball when we played Derby in the FA Cup last year.
  21. Yeah he laid it off to Onomah who then beat about 4 players and scored haha, so not one i’m sure would make Reed’s highlights reel! But he had a great game, just dictated the pace, won the ball back and never gave it away. Was surprised he takes the set pieces but despite some poor ones tonight, the fact he takes almost everything suggests they rate his delivery and passing ability. I’d like us to use him personally. JWP, Romeu, Reed, Smallbone as a selection of CM’s would be decent imo, they aren’t expected to provide huge amounts of creativity so i would rather the PEH money was invested into a Lallana/Tadic like playmaker, who can find the bit of magic to carve open a packed defence late on.
  22. Just the usual ‘ohhh Moussa Djenepo’ formerly of Gabbiadini and Yoshida fame (Seven Nation Army)
  23. Not to mention Djenepo hahahahaha, who’s literally played like 10 games, also gets his name sung whenever he’s on the pitch. We don’t have songs for McCarthy, Stephens, Bednarek, Armstrong, Smallbone, Vokins as far as i’m aware. Grrrr, bloody racists.
  24. One of our best signings ever in the Liebherr era in my opinion. £12million for 6 years of his prime, at his best i’d say England’s best left back (why they always picked Rose was beyond me) and now i’d still put him top 5 or 6 in the league. Will be very sad when he either leaves, or hangs up the boots. Can’t tell you how underwhelmed I was when he was replacing Shaw, I started to wonder if we really were having a fire sale to balance the books and replacing with cheap options. How wrong I was! Probably my favourite Saints player now.
  25. Villa also had that incident where they scored a last second winner at Palace but the ref had already blown his whistle for a Grealish ‘dive’ when he’d been fouled. Absolutely scandalous that was. They’ve been shafted a few times this season, I don’t think they’ll feel guilty for that goal against Sheffield United.
