I think the players would like to see fan loyalty not just to themselves individual, but to their friends on the team. I doubt any Southampton player was happy about the way many fans treated Fox and Guly.

Not sure Pelle will be in big demand this summer. No English premium. He will be 30 and would cost a lot for that age and would have to be given a big bump in salary. Plus, he will want to play for Italy in the European Championship and sitting on the bench at a bigger club will likely eliminate that opportunity.

If you think about it, it is funny that we would not want to trade our entire team for Spurs' entire team. They might not be any better, and we could not afford their salaries.

For Salary Cap and Financial Fair Play reasons it would make sense to sell Rodriguez and, if necessary, Clyne and Schneiderlin after July 1. It would have to be a tremendously good offer to be worth selling in January. This does not mean that I want to sell any of them--just that the sales would make more sense if they happened in the next fiscal year.

I believe your methodology is flawed. Part (but not all) of the reason we appear to have faced an easy schedule is that our opponents have had to play us. Sunderland's schedule looks tougher because they opponents got to play them. If someone who understands statistics wants to do some sort of regression analysis the result would be more meaningful. Of course, your look ahead doesn't suffer from that flaw.

And with their London base and the new stadium, they are in a great financial position for the future. If anyone is going to penetrate the current BPL elite and compete regularly for Europe it will be us, Newcastle, or West Ham and financially the other two have an edge on us.

I wasn't going to reply to the West Ham guy. I was going to answer the sincerely meant questions of the Stoke fans who wondered why their team couldn't do what Southampton was doing. But it is weird, I can log into my proboards account, but somehow I can't use it to post on the Stoke forum or register for it separately.

To be fair, the goal that went in hit the woodwork too so that is 1 in 5 going in and one of the four was on the same play so really we were 1 in 4 on woodworking goals. I don't actually have a point to make now that I think of it.
