Think Perraud looks a definite upgrade on Bertrand. Might be a little too early to say but is definitely quicker and all over the place

£30 mil for a bloke who’s going on 30 with 2 dodgy knees and a year left on his contract is great value. Much rather we sold him and invested the money wisely than have him moping about for the whole year and leaving on a free next year. He only scored 5 goals since January, of which I’m pretty sure 1 or 2 were pens. Good luck to him and his champions league dream 😂
-
£25 mil is an absolute joke. Assuming he’s on approximately 100k a week that will cost them roughly £21mil just to buy out his contract!

Good signing. Intrigued to see how Palace do this year, they let half their squad go so undoubtedly needed some signings, but it’s whether Vieira can get them all to gel

Cardiff are streaming it on their website if you’re prepared to sign up and pay 3 quid

Agreed. Never understood what Winks brings to the table. Everytime i watch him play he seems too lightweight in defence and doesn’t have the capability to go forward. Neither a CDM, box to box or CAM

Gunn - £5.5 mil roughly (+ add ons) Hoedt - undisclosed (I’d guess £1-2 mil) Bertrand - contract expired Jankewitz - 550k roughly Nlundulu- Loan to Lincoln Minamino- End of Loan Sims and Hesketh released

Dan N'Lundulu - Official: Loaned to Lincoln

Don’t disagree he could turn out to be crap but if he is 7 figures over the 3 years that’s not exactly a lot in the long run - worth a punt if he’ll only cost a mil or 2 -

Michael Appleton isn’t it- ex Pompey? He’s been diagnosed with testicular cancer and having surgery during pre season- hoping he recovers well as he’s done a good job there -
Think it was more down to the fact everyone was in lockdown and not seeing each other rather than masks

Disagree, he won’t be on much, Lincoln will be paying a good chunk of his wages this year and it only takes 1 good season of 15-20 goals and we’d be able to flog him for several mil/have him as a backup. I reckon with his height and pace he might do alright in the lower leagues. Nowhere near as baffling as Shane Long’s contract extension a while back -
This is my worry - I can’t see it ever being completely wiped from society, it’ll become a bad version of the flu and is something we’ll just have to live with. I wouldn’t blame vulnerable people for not attending games straight away, but as the cases decrease due to herd immunity and everyone having antibodies, those people are going to have to take a risk at some point. Either that or live a very boring life forever
-
Now that restrictions are being lifted and full stadiums are expected to be allowed for the start of next season I was wondering whether people expect stadiums to be full across the country or below pre COVID levels? I’m sure there will be a much younger age group - I know plenty of older people who are sh*t scared of a catching COVID. Would you all go back to St Mary’s with no worries?

Really impressed with Hungary, they hold their shape brilliantly. I think a few of these players would be shrewd signings for cheap money. jinxed that!

Seems to be one of the most passionate assistant managers out there. Was just wondering if anyone knows if it’s iust Ralph having an impact or whether he can take a lot of the credit too?

Saints 0 Watford 2 - Match & Meltdown

Davis has been beyond awful, we're getting dominated in midfield so no wonder our wingers and gabbiadini can't get the ball! We don't seem to have a game plan or a planned formation.. -
Agreed they all have different strengths and weaknesses but any good team is built on the foundations of a solid defence - which he has achieved. He can't win. If we were scoring with ease but conceding just as many he'd be axed as the fans would be complaining. Agreed we can be boring but you can't deny we've become very hard to break down and beat easily. Just need to score some now! I think we need consistency as the players never seem to get more than 2 games starting. JRod for example scored and assisted against M'boro but was then dropped for the next game, which in my mind makes no sense as surely strikers thrive off confidence?! A few little tweaks from Puel and i believe we have a strong looking side for next year with the correct investment in the summer.
-
Puel has built from the back this season, and if you bear in mind that VVD has been out half the season it's remarkable how we've kept the joint 3rd most clean sheets in the league. All we need is a clinical goalscorer and we will be challenging top 6 again - we create the chances but can't finish it off. It will make a massive difference have Gabbiadini and Austin fully fit at the start of next season, im all up for Puel staying. We've played a shed load more games this season as well with the Europa League and Cup run so finishing 8th (all be it on a lower points total) isn't a bad finish considering everything
-
Do you not want them to stay up next year in a funny sort of way? Quite enjoy a good derby
-
Can't expect to sit back against a quality team who had scored 101 goals prior to this game and expect to win, especially when there's no plan B for when we concede a goal. Hard to have a go at Boufal - he has had no game time and every time he is subbed on he's expected to be a game changer and win it for us. He then tries the spectacular to bring something different but gets slated for it, he needs confidence from playing a lot. Stephens and Davis were very good today. Pretty poor to not even have a go at them and only have 1 shot on target all game
-
Now that we're in the final, assuming Man Utd get to the final as well, does this mean we go into qualifying rounds of Europa League even if we win or lose, if United finish 6th or higher? Anyone know the rules?
