Would a white cabinet minister get away with saying this? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11983663/amp/Police-use-stop-search-despite-overly-affecting-ethnic-minorities-says-Kemi-Badenoch.html

Probably the worst centre half ever to pull on a Saints shirt.

At least we got our country back. Sadly though, sovereignty doesn’t put food on the table or pay the heating bills. Pathetic really that there are still people who think that the colour of the flag we stand under is far more important than the future of our children. It’s all okay though. Apparently, according to our very rich Prime Minister, all we have to do to turn things around is get better at maths.

I am not saying that the police did not go over the top in sending 5 officers (although I don’t know the reasons behind that decision) but the “far right” are lapping up the whole golliwog thing. And thanks for your advice egg, perhaps you should also pass it on to a few of your mates on here too. When you say that Braverman had a point, don’t you think that the Home Secretary could have at least check in with Essex police and asked for their reasoning before launching her attack on them?
-
Even some of her own party members think she is racist. She didn’t even bother to speak to the Essex police to find out their side of the story before she launched into her usual knee jerk anti woke rhetoric. No surprise there, or that the far right swallow it up. https://amp.theguardian.com/politics/2023/apr/15/braverman-rebuke-police-golly-pub-dolls-home-office

Funny you should post this. Earlier I was thinking that Nathan Jones was the Liz Truss of the Premier League. How anyone can think that anything she says or did has/had any credibility in the real world is completely deluded. When history looks back at a period where people like Trump, Johnson and Truss were in power it will think that those who put them there were completely devoid of any vestige of cognitive thought. -
Yet still he is making a better job of it than Donald Trump, as I expect your Dad would do too.

Strangely the issue of are golliwogs racist is a thing again thanks to a racist pub landlord having a selection on display in his pub and them being removed by the police. Surprise, surprise, Suella Braverman has also waded in on the side of the landlord. It seems I went to sleep in 2023 and woke up in 1970. Cue the usual white reactionary suspects on here lining up to argue that they are not. A 19 year broadcasting career and this is the best you can do? Anything else? Do you have the same obsession with everyone else who was hoodwinked by him too or was O’Brien the only one? It’s good to see you finally worrying about people who destroy other people’s lives though. Perhaps you will eventually even turn against Suella Braverman, or don’t the lives of refugees count? -

Thank you for you in depth and deeply considered reply. When I wrote that I was just giving my impression of him from what I had heard on the radio. Since then I have googled him and he considered himself a “centrist” a “liberal” and a “do gooder” (or in your parlance, a “pinko”). Given your support for the likes of Farage and Thatcher (does it still give you a stiffy when you type “Iron Lady”?) you clearly have no idea what it is like to hold a view that politics should be for all. Keep the foreigners out and keep the Lords in their castles whilst we doff our caps and let the gentry wipe their feet on us. His take down of the anti woke types and Brexiteer disaster deniers is a joy to behold. Perhaps you should give him a call Duckie? Do you have the balls? -

I am a relative newcomer to the James O’Brien show but would agree that he spends a lot of time dissing Brexit. I have yet to hear anyone get the better of him on the subject though. From what I have heard so far I wouldn’t call him left wing at all, his views seem to be liberal and humanitarian to my ears. He seems to take great pleasure in pulling apart callers of the Gammon and anti-woke persuasion and again, I have yet to hear any of these people get the better of him. For that alone he is worth listening to because these are the very people who are trying to keep us rooted in a 1970’s mindset when the rest of us are desperate for this country to shed the millstones of the last century and to become a modern, forward thinking, open, caring society that works for all, not just the privileged few. -

Sadly, that’s what stalkers are all about. Interesting that he used the words “furiously typing”. I “furiously” typed two whole words! I must have used up so much fury that I ran out of steam! His effort to troll when calling into doubt my support of Southampton is also laughable given that there is graphic evidence of my football posts on several different Southampton FC based social forum platforms going back decades. To quote Del Boy, what a plonker.🤪 (I didn’t see the match and was spending Easter Saturday with friends so am not qualified to comment on the game, not that I have to justify myself to a stupid internet troll/stalker) -

Interestingly, Baroness Warsi is currently on LBC with James O’Brien talking about Home Secretary Braverman’s comments about Asian rape gangs and has referred to her language as “racist”. She has also pointed out the police and local councils often failed to prosecute these gangs when the information first came to light because the victims were seen as “trash” and not worth pursuing, not because they were being PC. She also made the point that it is ironic that one minute the police are being labelled racist because of the way they prosecute and deal with ethnic minorities and in this case they are labelled as being PC because they are supposed to be doing the opposite. This is a senior Tory politician of a ethnic minority, not an old White liberal keyboard warrior. It’s refreshing to hear someone from the right of centre commenting on this and completely contradicting the right wing attack dogs. -
We live 5 or 6 miles from Sevington and completely agree that, so far, the site has been a total waste of money. They would be better off parking lorries there during Operation Stack rather than clogging up the M20. Mrs SOG’s niece works for Border Force and is assigned to Sevington. She is trying to get a transfer elsewhere as she is bored there.

Racist jibes for calling out a xenophobe? I am not sure which of your crowd is more stupid. You I guess because you have been at it longer. Just think about what you are saying for one minute. You spend your posting life having a pop at foreigners and minority groups and you are trying to say that I share the same views as you have when I call you out for them. If you can’t work out what is wrong with this picture you are beyond help. It proves my point so thank you. The Tories are guaranteed votes from certain sections of our society because they are pig ignorant. Footnote: Thank you RB for restoring my faith in humanity and responding with intelligence. There are clearly huge issues with policing and the Criminal Justice System in general, but when putting the spotlight on sex crimes in particular it is also clear that the issues surrounding child sexual exploitation and serious sexual assault in general are not being addressed properly and just having the focus on a specific group speaks to a political agenda rather than a will to deal with the alleged crimes without prejudice. To that end it is good to see a number of these gangs brought to justice over the last few years, no matter what race or religion (even if the West Midlands crew wasn’t labelled as “white”). -

So she won. When times are tough people need to apportion blame and that is why the current crop of Tories are targeting these minority groups; refugees, Asian sex offenders, trans people and you can throw in Lefty Lawyers and some judges who have been labelled “enemies of the people”. It is food and drink to the Gammons and they are still lapping it up, fuelled by the right wing media. Duckie would have it that the present Government are not right wing. He is wrong. You can’t get more right wing than demonising minority groups and stirring up the masses against them. It is why Lineker tweeted what he did and he is spot on. He poked the right wing apologists with a stick and we all watched them react. The same happens here. Defend a minority group, point out that the problems are wider than that and need to be seen in a broader context rather than being sucked in by hate propaganda and they swarm after you whilst stoking each other up in a feeding frenzy. Whilst it is depressing to see a dreadful human being such as Suella Braverman get a vote of confidence there is an upside. She will still be around to fight the next election and will hopefully remind the millions of people around the country that still have a shred of decency left what you get when you vote for this party. -

Call me old fashioned, but I expect the current Government to be mainly focussed on dealing with major issues like the cost of living crisis, the energy crisis, sorting out the problems in the NHS and other public services, getting Brexit working properly, sorting out the failing infrastructure etc. I would also expect the forthcoming election to be fought on such issues. A short while ago a political commentator suggested that the Tories would try and refocus our attention away from these issues and instead turn their (and our) gaze towards small boats, Asian rapists and trans issues. Guess what, exactly that has happened. The phone in shows have been swamped on these subjects over the last few weeks thanks to the Government’s flurry of bills. Apart from the clear attempt of distracting us from the God awful mess they are making of running the country, it begs two questions - this Government has been in power for 13 years, so if small boats, Asian rapists and trans people are such major issues, why has it taken them a year before the next election to realise it and why did they let things get so bad in the first place? For my usual stalkers, these are rhetorical questions. We already know the answers but you might want to think about it a bit more before putting your cross next to a Tory on the ballot paper. PS. 21 convicted in West Midlands child sex abuse case. Feeling the need to vent your anger Batman? Oh, sorry, they are not Asians. As you were. -

I was under the impression that the gangs had all been prosecuted? As for anything that Braverman and Batman broadcast, things are rarely exactly as they say. https://www.ucl.ac.uk/news/2020/dec/analysis-new-home-office-report-admits-grooming-gangs-are-not-muslim-problem https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/group-based-child-sexual-exploitation-characteristics-of-offending/characteristics-of-group-based-child-sexual-exploitation-in-the-community-literature-review-accessible-version#conclusion https://amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/apr/04/suella-braverman-grooming-gangs-child-seual-abuse-home-secretary-prejudice There is also a very good report from the BBC about systemic failures to tackle child grooming right across the board but I wasn’t able to cut and paste that. It is called Child Sexual Abuse: Extensive Failures In Tackling Grooming - Tom Symonds, updated 1st Feb 2022 This is the report. If you don’t want to read it all just read the conclusion. https://www.iicsa.org.uk/reports-recommendations/publications/investigation/cs-organised-networks/part-l-conclusions-and-recommendations/l1-conclusions.html And what Braverman and Batman don’t tell you that there was pressure brought on finding more Asian rape gangs to prosecute at one point rather (clearly for political purposes) but that news isn’t as sexy as a PC cover up. So, in a nutshell, consistent systemic failures to deal with all child sexual grooming across the country, including the lack of data capture from the alleged perpetrators and victims (so we don’t have accurate figures on the ethnicity of alleged offenders or victims) yet what we are talking about is the red meat headlines. Fortunately now Braverman has discredited herself so much as soon as she opens her mouth most of the media outside those in the Government’s pocket rush of to fact check her latest piece of b/s but it is shameful that we now live in a country where your Government from the PM right through the whole cabinet takes you for a mug. One last thing on this subject today, are you managing to muster up any outrage about Operation Pavarotti (Bolton grooming gang) yet Batman and chums? -

Any outrage about white, child rapist Sean Hogg? 🤔 As for the ignore thing. I do have several of the clowns on ignore now. Sadly though their posts still appear if someone quotes them and everything is there still if you forget to log on when you open the forum. These people have been posting the same crap for years and it has been frustrating watching them get away with it. Fortunately some other posters are now taking the time to call them out so things have improved slightly but people who regurgitate the Government’s propaganda, who spout mindless right wing rhetoric, who support racism or xenophobia, who troll and are just looking for a wind up should not go unchallenged. I don’t find it funny when they pile on but I do find it odd that the same few people appear below my posts seconds after I send them. You would think that grown men would have better things to do with their time than to stalk a complete stranger on the internet wouldn’t you? Thanks to these people and others like them, this country is going down the pan. Time for people who genuinely care about others to make a stand against self centred bigots, whether it be at the ballot boxes or on social media. -

People like me don’t say shut up for the sake of diversity. They say treat everybody the same no matter what race or religion. A rapist is a rapist no matter what colour or religion and should be prosecuted and treated as such. People like you and the Home Secretary however try and pretend that somehow those in the ethnic minorities are worse which is why you never post about white rapists or child abusers (in fact you even supported one even when he was in ritually found guilty) and actively seek out those of an ethnic background to post about. How embarrassing for you when some recently were found to be innocent! You, Braverman and people like you are deliberately stoking up hatred against minority groups. She was told in her interview that white gangs are more prevalent that Asian gangs but she ignored that to continue to talk about Asian gangs. By the way, they didn’t get away with it, they got prosecuted. You yourself have just done the same thing trying to pretend that even though the figures show that this isn’t a particular problem with Pakistani men, somehow it is because this is a predominately white country so it doesn’t matter if their are more white rapists. Sexual assaults are carried out in the main by males. Males of all shapes, sizes, races, creeds. This is happening in every country on the planet. When you post, as you do frequently, about one small element of society as if it is just them responsible, it is driven by your hatred and mistrust of foreigners. Bizarrely we have a Home Secretary of an ethic minority background who behaves in exactly the same way. -

https://amp.theguardian.com/society/2023/apr/03/nspcc-warns-against-framing-grooming-gangs-problem-as-ethnicity-based More vile politicking from Suella Braverman. We are used to Batman’s constant posts about Asian rapists whilst completely ignoring sex crimes committed by white men, but when the Home Secretary wilfully ignores the facts and targets one specific group of people, then we have a major problem. Another example of dog whistling from this useless, incompetent Government and another chunk of red meat thrown to the hard of thinking in time for the May elections. Cue confused or laughing emojis from those who fall for this dreadful woman’s bullshit and some pathetic posts trying to justify her attempts to stoke up a culture war.
